I have seen two on the hard having major osmosis repairs , one of them had the keel out would hate to think what all that cost, and that doesn't even consider the deck and cockpit laminate.
Gelcoat malfunction on this square hatched ss34. Looks like an attempt was made by a previous owner to repair by covering with a highbuild primer but the gelcoat continued to blister breaking through the covering primer and paint.

Loose keel. Keel was removed and rebedded. The studs or bolts where replaced and problems rectified which resulted in the keel being poorly fitted in the first place.(probably was never tight)

Keel bolt crevice corrosion

Gelcoat sanded off , hull faired and a dozen coats of continuously applied epoxy, primed and antifouled

Jolene did you do all this work yourself, ? Looks like it's in your yard.
if so do you have a blog or more information on the work ? It looks fantastic.
Thanks for your comments, Zzzzzz & Andy
So ,,,,, I don't know much of the boats history and the boat doesn't have a name. I'm very reluctant to give it one as I have very mixed feelings about it. Its old name is "that which can never be spoken"
I don't have a blog but I have a few photo's.
I had it out of the water for 3 years in my workshop yard doing the work on it but it has now been back in the water for 3 years.

Very nice, looks great under sail, well done ![]()
Were you called Noah while she was in your yard?
Thanks Craig,, The wildlife thought I was Noah , I was always moving on Ants, swarming bees, and even a few bats. I was a little worried that a bat might get under the vinyl headlining an die in there .
It's the hardest thing ever to name a boat. My new boat was named Tignanello. The first time I logged into seaway tower I swore I had to change it. I ended up just keeping the name of the SS 34 and putting an x on the end "Impulse X" not very imaginative!
That old name sucks on so many levels. I would change it.
Here's a name for you courtesy of C S Lewis
"Dawn Treader"
anyone else got a name for Jolene?

The Missus is trying all the time to find and convince me she has good a name for it. She likes it more than me.
The trouble is I don't know if I really like the boat,, through my lens I see a sort of disappointment and betrayal , to the point when someones starts telling me how good they are I just want to spit on the ground . I guess I feel they could have been so much better.
Sticking with the "Morning" tradition, for a while there I could of quite easily painted Morning Migraine on the side of it ![]()
It may me the fact that I don't see a boat but rather just a collection of stuff .
Could have a seperate post on deciding on a boats name.
When I purchased the Sonata she had no name so after 15 mins discussion with misses decided upon "Mango". Why? Because clearly understood over radio , current stripes on hull and she came from tropics originally .
I swore never again to have a name over 5 letters after racing with the ORCV back in the day where at each sked on HF you had to identify using phonetic spelling and give lat/ long position. Try it in rough conditions without a cheat sheet.
