Bit irrelevant to romance and sailing but seeing we're on the topic of magpies...lol!
I had my final exam for a fairly intensive course I've been on today, I'm the oldest and only female in my class studying to succeed in a technical field, I was the only one who got 100% :), I learnt that working your ass off pays and if you want it bad enough you'll get there :). Now I get to move on to eighteen months of more learning and study (bit like an apprenticeship) to fulfill the dream of what I've wanted for a long, long time but always thought I was too dumb to achieve (this is despite people often telling me I'm clever, but hey what would they know?! I always let myself down.). I know now if I grit my teeth and work hard and focus and just hang in there I'll get there. Achieving your dreams has to be the best feeling in the world (better then love, it lasts longer ).

Well done Meg good stuff.
keep it up

Hi Meg

Where the crc can is I put an old cock pit cushion in there turn up the stereo and layed in there for a few hours cleaning out my Bukh Anode hole at the back of the engine block I had to take off the throttle bracket so while I had it off I gave it a very quick clean and painted it black.
Also finished off my water pump hoses and filled the engine with sea water. I have a exhaust hose ordered Ill pick that up on Wednesday and power up the motor.
The next few jobs on the motor are replace all the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine and replace all the filters . Oil and fuel.
Beofre I conect the new fuel line to the fuel tank I need to modify it so my fuel gage sensor fit and then calibrate it instead of having a piece of stick to dip into the fuel tank to see how much fuel is in there. Then I will replace all the Bukh injector return lines with new Bukh ones.
That will be all thats happening with the motor this year .
Next year or the year after I might take the motor out and give it a slight rebuild Rings pistons and big end shells and the head new valve guides and a valve grind.
That should freshen it up for the next ten to fifteen years.
I have stated fitted Deucht electrical plugs to the loom from the engine panel in the cockpit and it ends in a compartment next to the engine and Ive pined 90 % loom coming from the engine panel and labeled them so any one else knows whats wire goes where and Ill then match them up with the loom from the engine and give it a run this week.
Also ran 6 more pairs of wires over the top of the cabin roof under the cedar some are to replace all the speaker wire with quality marine grade wire some are for navigation lights and some for LED lights and a couple of spares. I had 200 meters of 3 mm marine grade wire Ive about 50 meters left all used for LED lights and speakers .
Oh yes pulled my manual bilge pump apart and went through it and have moved the inlet so I have easier access to the rear of the engine bay. I have to buy a couple of PVC pipe elbows and put the plumbing back together.
Then its back the the stove cabinet for a few more refinements .

Hi Miss McNautical,
I was hoping to knock on your door/cabin and say hello on my way north but as we were passing along the coast yesterday AM (about 5) we decided to keep going north to avoid the looming northerlies.
We are now in Canapia Passage just north of the gold coast after a passage from Port Macquarie.
Perhaps we can sat hello later in the year when we sail south again.
Cheers, Rick

I should have called in. Perhaps I would not be stuck at Jumpinpin with no gearbox if I had. lol.
To be more precise, I still have a gearbox but it now dislikes forward or reverse.

Yes, I'm watching everyone's posts though not saying much. Learning as I go how much I don't know....lol
A bit daunted at times but actually contemplating going out for a solo sail for a few hours soon.

Romance? I'm actually in love... one of those rare once in a lifetime moments of love at first sight... just waiting now to see how things go.... hopefully there will be photos posted soon if all goes well.

Sorry to hear about your romantic let down McN. I saw a show the other day where a lady offered herself as a "whole woman"
the response was "men don't want a whole woman, they just want the bits that first took their minds off Meccano.
Hope springs eternal McN.
