That's awesome. Wishing you fair winds. Might be best to still fit the inner stay though, just in case.

With the weather systems moving towards you, and you sailing towards them, I guess you'll be keeping a close eye on the weather. I'm not sure if it helps or not, but thought I'd mention this free weather routing program:

Thanks Someday

So how does it feel Andy? What's the overriding emotion...excitement or too focussed on tasks for it to sink in yet?
I'd be part nervous and part elated!
Send us all something that we can push out there to likely sponsors!
We should get Sailor girl to do a piece on ya.
Cheers,
SB

To Andy - did a quick browse of recent forum posts, but couldn't see any thread about your preparations or departure. Are you still aiming for October 2?

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted for a while 'my excuses are:
1. My macbook died and I am forced to use windows because expedition needs windows and all rugged laptops are windows and if you never used windows before its not fun
2. My Daughter just had a baby, my first grandchild, so its work on the boat all day go home have a shower go to the hospital, go home and collapse. Mum and grandson are all doing fine.
3. I have been so unimaginarily busy, my to do list on the boat just kept growing and growing, I've been on the hard now for 14 days I will post some pics as soon, i promise I just have to spend some time figuring this new system out, which I know is pathetic.

All feeble excuses I know, I will promise to do better in the future

Hi Shaggy
Thanks for thinking about a sponsor. I'm hoping once i get under way I can get a sponsor to come on board for the cost of uploading a video blog, at $7.50 a meg its pretty expensive.
it doesn''t seem real yet. I just focused on getting the boat ready and dealing with all the preparations. I have set a departure date of 3 October 2016 so its looming up closer and closer.

G'day Andy,
I am in Canada until 5 Oct so won't be able to call before your departure.
The obvious, fair winds and following seas. Learn to really enjoy your own company and get immersed in the sea. I wouldn't say I envy you but I do admire your determination and courage.
Cheers mate, John

Hi Mcnaughtical,
Not only has a lady done the westabout, but did so non stop. Dee Caffari in 2006. Then she did an eastabout non stop in 2009 just to rub it in

What battery charging systems will you be using on your trip around the world Andy59? Solar / wind? and will you have a refrigerator?

Unlike nuts crazy Andy doing it in a 40', Dee I think used an Open 60 for her westabout.
There was a great excerpt I read from her book in some airline magazine where she had to go up the mast and got stuck and was getting pounded. Took hours to work out how to get back down .
Certifiable bunch :)

Hi Southace, I have 2 Rutland wind generators and 2 100 watt solar panels. No refridgeration. The solar panels are flexible so that they can be stowed away in heavy weather. I will only use 1 wind generator the other is a spare. he wind generator can be taken down and stowed if I am expecting heavy weather. I will probably take a spare solar panel as well. Finally I have the alternator if all else fails.
Ha ha Shaggy we're all a bit crazy
