Hi crew, Dave here, I'm new to the forum and relatively new to sailing. If anyone would like an extra crew member, I'd be more than happy to come along. I live on the Sunshine Coast so it would be convenient for me to leave from there, but can travel if need be.
Cheers
unwrritten?? An interesting handle maybe implying you may have experience not yet documented or a future you wish to record.
Either way, welcome to the forum. If you are a sailor, you will find things you like here.
If you can latch into this sailing weekend, you will have a ball and meet some great people.
I am committed to going to Lord Howe Island with MorningBird and HaveFun, two fellow Seabreezers I have sailed with before. It is a long way to go for just a BBQ but that is the stuff we do.
At best, if all goes to plan with the LHI trip, I may be able to be at one of the docks when the Brisbane Seabreezers come back to accept their lines. That would be classic.
Anyway, I am dedicating this song to "unwritten", the Brisbane Seabreeze sailing weekend and the forum in general.
Get on the boat people, get on the boat. Get on the boat people, we got room for a hundred more.
Finally on our way home from the reef and am currently in Mackay Marina with a number of other boats waiting for the northerly breeze to come in. if I can convince the misses to get back on the boat after being away on it for 4 months and weather is good we should be there for the weekend.

Dave,
Have you been able to get a spot on a boat leaving from Mooloolaba?

Jode5,
Hope you can make it, looking forward to hearing about your adventures
Seabird,
I have messaged a couple of members, no spot confirmed yet... anybody leaving leaving from the Sunny Coast? PM me if you would like a +1.
If I don't receive anything in the next week or so, I'll start asking people leaving from the Brisbane area.
Does anybody have a spare berth for this trip? Also I should have a couple of days off prior to departure, so if you need a hand with last minute maintenance, I’ll be more than happy to assist.
Cheers, Dave.

don't think hg02 is coming up form Melbourne. so you can jump on with me if you like. I will be leaving from beachmere, mouth of the Caboolture river.
do you have any previous sailing experience?
Hi! I thought we should do a roll call.
Shaggy is in. Sonata 8m, sailing out of Manly, can take one or two if anyone gets stuck!
Warning: sheer boredom looms from skipper talking about new boat. Will even tell a post.

Unfortunately not this year Bubble next year defiantly will be going
Thanks Bubble, that would be great.
My only sailing experience is 10 days sailing a 40ft sloop from Mooloolaba, down around Moreton Bay and back. This was during the practical section of the RYA Competent Crew and RYA Dayskipper courses... I wanted to get into sailing and thought I'd start off on the right foot.

Can you take Dog on Moreton Island Beach?
I was thinking game from Hervey Bay if Wide Bay Bar is kind for as.
Should hold a Seabreezers weekend at locations in each state. Just sayin'
.
Yep.. I was thinking of just this myself. I would've liked to have come over from WA for this one and for a while there it even looked likely, but alas work had different ideas. Will start a thread tonight or over the weekend.![]()

Thanks McN, shame you can't make it.
Space on my boat if anyone wants to come along.
just a quick question but are people going to go if the weather is bad. or if its dead calm with no wind? or if it a predicted westerly as the anchorage would be pretty rollie as I have found out before. although a strong westerly would be pretty strange this time of year.

I guess we will make a final decision on the weather on Wednesday, fingers crossed for 10/15 ENE![]()

Not sure if we will make the weekend now as the wife went to her heart doctor today with a few passing out problems. She now has to have her pace maker replaced on Thursday. The doctor said she will need to take it easy for a couple of weeks so we will have to see how she goes. I still may come by myself or have a spare birth for someone. ( not in the wife's birth beside me
)
Jode5, I am sorry to hear your wife is having some problems, we're all sending her our best wishes mate, I hope everything goes ok.
Regards,
Greg
Hope she gets better Jode5. I'm looking forward to sailing up from the Goldy with my wife, it will be her first sail longer than a few hours
The 7 day weather forecast suggests northerly winds on Friday which will suit the guys coming from the Sunshine Coast.
With a 4pm high tide it will be nice run down.
If you decide to stay Friday night at the Tangalooma wrecks you will be able to come in over the bank at the northern end of the wrecks from about 3.00pm on given it's a 2.16m tide. There will be at least 2.5m or water over the bank.
You will see yellow buoys which mark the channel the Micat uses, I would stay in the centre of the buoys and swing in behind the wrecks about half way to shore. I don't beleive these buoys are marked on any charts.
In a northerly wind I find its a better anhchorage it you head to the southern end of the wrecks where it opens up and anchor close to shore allowing enough depth if you swing back to shore.
If you don't come across this bank you will have to stay out wide and go down to the channel south of the jetty and then come back up to the wrecks. This access is on the charts.
I understand the wrecks have been cut down to the water line in the recent weeks so they will be harder to spot from the shipping channel.
