Pure porn, I wonder what the poor people are doing....... coz they surely aint on this piece of deliciousness ....
I don't really get the attraction, 500kg electric furling booms (just guessing from looking at them), push button sailing a giant unresponsive barge that would plough through any wave state under 10m. It's not really the dance of wind and water I look for in sailing.

Thanks for putting that up.
They also make a 81metre at 90 million Euros.

So what's your opinion of the Victory dry docked at Portsmouth. I thought it was a work of art and was in awe of the construction after crawling around it one day. The guys in charge didn't have electric winches, but a crew to do all the hard yakka. So they never even had to push a button, just a verbal command, but I bet they thought they were sailing. I've found that no matter how big, small and dollar value, the magical feeling of sailing is always there when I know they only thing moving the boat is the wind.
I saw it as I past river gate in Brisbane, there is a person standing in front of the aft mast which shows scale.
woops! Not the same boat ...... need more coffee ![]()

And yet they could not afford real anchors! Look like stainless CQR's!!!!!!!!!
I thought I had pictures of Aquarius from Rhode Island last year but they were similar yachts. This one appealed to me and has a similar anchor set up with what appears to be a stainless CQR.

And yet they could not afford real anchors! Look like stainless CQR's!!!!!!!!!
Boats like that don't need anchors as they almost always use marina facilities so they pick the anchor that is least likely to spoil the lines of the boat.
It's porn! Or art. Something to look at. Don't over think it.
is porn because of the lingere like sails? ![]()

Speaking of anchors, this boat has none!!
Was 'anchored' down here on the Derwent for a few days and she uses thrusters and GPS to stay in the same position. Apparently can hold her position in 30 knots plus!!

Well as a mobile gun emplacement I believe it was pretty successful :) But in all seriousness yes I would be in awe seeing it also, I love timber.

You've just invented the future of mega yachts, voice activated holograms to man the electric winches and scramble up the holographic rat lines :) :) :)

So WOXI gets a pass then as while it has a 100hp engine running constantly the locomotion is provided by sail :) :) Just joking.

Yes Rumble, that's Hetairos. We went for a spin around her when she was " hovering" in Peppermint Bay. Awesome looking vessel!

I have been on cruise ships that put down an anchor then the computer uses the azipods to hold the ship in position. Sometimes they have to hold the ship in a certain position no matter what the prevailing wind. The anchor is probably just a reference point.

Wow, Im buying one.

Sorry, to me this is a piece of obscene wealth, even though it made jobs for lots of people in building it. (And I'm no leftie)
Designed by top naval architects, but clearly not much freeboard for Atlantic or Southern ocean storms. Of course, with so much wealth, this boat is not going anywhere near heavy weather. Don' t think the owners would like to be on-board as massive seas sweep across the decks. IMHO, not a patch on the old clipper ships.

Precisely my sentiments on it.

Well yes gents its a tad over the top, but it's also sorta herrisoffish if you know what I mean. At least it's got style. ![]()
It may be an expensive boat but it doesn't change it from being elegant with graceful lines and probably well built. Looks like great joinery in the timber work, sail plan great and trim excellent - she was powering in the video. I didnt see obscene, I saw a job well done by the builders. Criticising its seaworthiness is like criticising an AC28 because it cant cross the Atlantic. Irrelevant and ridiculous. Its designed for a job. Though I cant afford it either, this week at least, I'm not going too drag down a beautiful boat with the typical Aussie cut down the tall poppies syndrome. We are Australian. Lets not strive for excellence, lets drag down those that do right? ![]()

she has about 8.5 foot free-board .
I would rather be sailing her in a gale in the southern ocean than an old clipper
that is a thing of beauty !!
there is nothing wrong with that sort of obscenity !!!

IMO just change excellence for opulence and you are on the money. I don't strive for personal comfort or think that is excellence, it seems to me people are best with a bit of discomfort/challenge.
On another angle where could you sail that boat without feeling like a complete alien?
For me if the door handles were gold plated, taps crusted in diamonds and safety rails silver plated that would be excessive. Like this one - it DOES have gold plated taps - https://www.superyachtfan.com/superyacht/superyacht_white_rose_of_drachs.html. Imagine how much it would cost to start up the engines! Its not elegant. Cant sail. Looks like a block of flats. On Aquarius I just see everything as good as it can be on a new big boat. The fittings are even simple stainless steel, just polished. If someone gave me the keys I would be quite happy.
Not everybody is a 'jobbing' sailor Yara. Perhaps these obviously very wealthy people choose to sail because they love the
movement of everything, the boat moves, the water moves, the clouds/sun/moon, maybe with all their wealth their world is
quite static and one way they can feel 'alive' is to be on a boat.
Chartering this Bruce King beauty around the Med would be my idea of a blast. Or it would if I had a few 10s of $Ks to spare.

That qualifies as boat porn in my book, even if it doesn't have freeboard according to some on here.
Sit back and enjoy the ride.
