So as a member of at least 4 other clubs I can not sail at royal geelong without a sail pass at all.
So why be a member of another club, I have to buy a sail pass anyone if I visit
Seems like a lot of unnecessary paperwork just to create a mailing list for AS. I personally think most clubs will turn a blind eye as this does nothing but discouraging new people for entering our sport and owners willing to take our extra people. I sure we can all say we have been short of crew at some stage and grabbed someone from the bar, no more unless they have a number or you go through the paperwork, all for nothing.
But that's just the thing, you can't turn a blind eye to it because it's a RULE. If you ignore it you're opening your self up to a rule 69, which is REALY bad!
I posted elsewhere...in the Notice of Race rules can be amended....NOR: Rule 46 is amended as follows, crews may sail three time before club membership is required.

Isn't it no paperwork? From what I understand if someone fills in a paper form then someone at a club would have to receive it, possibly keep track of or give a crap about how many sails they have done.
NOTE: I haven't seen the implementation but this is what the process flow should be.
From the user's perspective the phone will auto fill contact details for anyone who has even the slightest online presence. Literally hit a web page, start to type in the club name and select from a list the correct one, one click Chrome/FireFox autocomplete personal details, 1 click payment and voila signed up, 30 seconds.
Sail on.
From the club's perspective every six months someone can have a look at how many people are sailing a lot and try and encourage them to join.
In an ideal world, or even just a vaguely sane one the above makes perfect sense, give me 3 weeks and I could build it for you. But people are what they are, there will be competing self interests and the plan won't be objectively decided...
