Hi All,
It has Dakine footstraps and pads (black and white) and an Air-rush handle(grey).
Board is 150 cm + and has a random 'rainbow commando' spray on the deck.
it is charcoal grey/black on the bottom and the
Fins have little spider webs drawn on them!
I lost it when the wind died and I was trying to relaunch - it was upside down and we got seperated in a gust - that was it!
I am happy to provide beer or wine or a cash reward to the lovely person who can return this board.
I am a beginner and I've found this board gets up and running very easy for me and I miss it heaps already!
Thanks Heaps everybody
-Pattie
Hey Scotty777,
mate I was at Shearwater avenue, south of Howard st, Runaway bay Gold Coast, yesterday(Tuesday 6th March at about 6pm). There was only one other windsurfer out at the time. She offered to help but didn't see the board.
Thanks for your interest mate. Would love to have it back, it goes good in the waves for my level!
Cheers
I chased and returned 2 boards on Tuesday and 2 on Wednesday, pitty I left at 4:30 that day.
Tide was coming in that arvo so you might be lucky it floated up somewhere.
Name and number on the board?
Good on you Troy, mate those guys are super lucky you were there, maybe mine will wash up somewhere i hope:) Were those kiters above beginner level? I mean can this happen at any level in the broadwater? Cheers mate and thanks again
Yer some guys were from Italy and really good kiters. Their problem was they didn't know how harsh the tide is and were looking downwind.
It's so easy to take a big splash and become disorientated, you could land directly next to your board or 50m downwind. Plus the choppy water can make spotting your board extremely hard especially when your eyes are at water level.
And it seems alot of boards are dark colours too.
Before I started using boots if I couldn't spot my board I would body drag to shore if nearby, so I could get a higher view of the water. Run along the beach to get upwind of the board so there was no chance the tide would beat me.
If you get your board back right your name on it, hopefully someone finds it and puts up a poster at shearwater.
Thanks Troy, I'll check Shearwater for signs:) It was my first time there but i'll be a bit more regular in the near future! It was upside down and has a Black/charcoal bottom so....next to impossible to see. I hope a boat full of revellers don't stack on it, it is a big board. I'm thinking of getting a leash for my next one. I don't do airs and i've never been thrown further than about 10 feet from my board, how long are leashes? If I do feel it start to ping, maybe I'll just go under water?
If they were 'good' kiters I hope you have some extra beer in your fridge Troy. Sterling effort that, 4 board recoveries in two days, nice!
Haha not much of a drinker, it effects my already average kiting.
Hopefully when I lose my board someone will bring it back to me, a bit of good karma.
Leashes are pretty dangerous heaps of people will tell you not to use one. But if you have too there a seatbelt style retractable ones that have heaps of length to keep the board from coming back at you.
Chuck a big orange sticker on the bottom of your board.
Or your new board will be brighter colours
Hey Troy,
I've been looking on line for new/2nd hand boards.
Not much about in the big sizes, so i've started converting a surfboard - adding more weight, straps.
I might even put a big yellow smiley face on the bottom!
Those retractable leashes look the goods to me.
Cheers
Hey thanks heaps for the heads up. I'm keen on a bit of twin tip in the surf and for having a light wind board when i'm intermediate. I'm looking 136 x 40 up but from what i've read I think 140 x 38 is probably as small as I should go, maybe bigger? I'll give Surf FX a ring tomorow. Cheers for all your help Troy. ![]()
Sounds good, if your a fat bastard just go wider. Im 75kg and I ride 136x42. I could easily ride a 132.
A 140x42ish would suit someone heavier.
Anything with large rocker will kill light wind performance and upwind ability. I was at surffx today and a saw a couple cabrinha calibers second hand That look good.
The guys at the shop will sort you out
Hey Troy, I'm a 70 kg fat bastard. :P
I called the guys at Fx today and they have me sorted with a 144x43 chopstick :) So thanks heaps m8 again for the heads up, they're really very helpful and are trading my trainer 1.5 Imp which is saving me a few bux. (I'm so amped, I can't wait!!!)
I know 144 sounds massive but I just want to get on my feet and upwind a bit. I can trade it later or keep for light wind, which I figure it will be super good in at any level. Apparently they're good in the waves too? - which is where i'll be most of the time.
Again Troy thanks for the heads up, I'm stoked to be headed in this direction even though I may never see my Stonka again:( . Now I feel like I'm going to be on an amazing board as I have read up on them and it all sounds good. Again mate I can't thank you enough for your attention.
Cheers
Chopstick yer they have flick tips great for surf riding.
Well hurry up it's blowing a Gail right now
Hey Troy,
Thanks heaps m8 , picked up the Chopstick on Saturday from the fellas up there. Looks like i'll be a regular there as they have heaps of stuff and are really helpful. Nice shop for sure. Mucho Gratis.
I can't wait to use it. I took a smaller board out today because it was so windy. maybe 2moro before work?
Thanks again mate
Cheers
Hey pattie what kite have you got? Were you at shearwater? I was out from 10till4 getting smashed around.
Hey Troy,
I have an 08 Rev 11m.
I was out at Sth Golden north of Brunz River. Pretty wild. today again but the wind died at launch time! (4-30pm d s time)
Did you fair better today? What type is your kite m8?
Cheers
Umm well my normal is a 11 switchblade black and red. I ride with boots so you won't miss me. But I also have an 8 switchblade red and black too more red though. I used to have black boots but I destroyed them and got a brand new shiny white set on warrenty.
Had awesome fun on Sunday getting smashed around all day. Today had uni but going down tomorrow sometime shearwater
Yeah I'm a big fan of boots, I gotta get some d'you just use normal surf brand ones, with the hard soles? Warrick Capper would like your new ones
! they'll definitely make you easier to pick. I'm similar in that I always wear a blue water cap, the Rev is Green Black and a little bit of grey.
I'm headed to Sth G'n now for an early, time to christen the Choppie! I'll let you know when next I head up Shearwate way Troy.
Have a blast today m8, its looking good at the mo!
Haha I mean wakeboard boots/bindings.
I call them boots because every company markets their straps as bindings and causes confusion.
How did the board go?
WC will definitely like those, thanks for clearing that up! You must look like a storm trooper in those things. Is falling off front side a problem in boots? Upside is no leash required - no lost board!
I scored about 15 kts (no sand lifting) and could have used a bigger board.
Choppie was super fun & way more flexie than the stonk, easier to transition, just a great feel and landed in the white stuff nice and spongy. Though upwind the stonk was easier (it did have 70 mm glass ins & was prolly more like 160 mm) I miss it..
But maybe upwind was easier because of the single concave (Choppie has a double fitted into a V) and the rolled down edges? I don't know.... Upwind - Stonk, feel - Choppie - anyway I'm getting some 2 1/2 to 3" fins to see if it makes upwind nicer.
Also I think I ride a little pigeon toed as, I want to point my rear foot forward (both directions), and the sync bindings I scored
keep your feet locked in, so I was pulling out of the straps and riding on the outside of the pads. This made sinking that rail easier
Did you get the 8 out last few days?
Other day A fella had his Noise 8 out and was up way easier than my rev11, he was on a directional but his kite was up 3 - 5 kts earlier than mine after the lulls. Not bad for 8 methinks!
Cheers mate
Sorry for War & Peace sized post. No wind 2day....
Cheers m8
dont worry about upwind, new board means different technique, and getting over any bad technique from the last board. fins may give you a feel your more used to, but once you get the feel of it fins wont make a difference.
my wake board boots are killers. everytime you catch an edge its like having your feet bolted to the ground and getting hit by a car. hahah but way more fun than straps.
the guy on the BWS noise 8m is a mate of mine, he can kite with that thing in less than 15knots. hes pretty light. but heaps good
and yer ive been very overpowered on my 8 lately. i had a couple hours yesterday on the 11m but got the 8 out. unhooking is very uncomfortable in 25knots on an 11m but still doable. unhooking in 35knots on an 8 is also uncomfy.
Hey Troy,
Haha Those boots sound dangerous to me! But hey , u live on the edge !
That's what i'll do to get better at upwind on the Choppie then.
I just gotta sink it i guess. But problem is it is so wide, 43 or 44 ... stonk was so easy , sigh, haha
Your m8 is a cool guy I can't wait to have a sesh with him. I was wondering, after, why he didn have the 12 up that day? Prolly cause it was blowin hard when we all first looked.
He must be about 68Kg ? Defo an advantage around here in the arvies. Speaking of... I'm going to check it!
Hope you get some boost 2day Troy
Cheers
