Open invitation to anyone to come down, where else in the world can you knock off at work, drive to your local beach 20min away, and then kite among Kevin Langeree, his sister, Aaron Hadlow, Hannah Whitely and Nick Jacobsen at the same time..yep that was this afternoon, amazing to see these guys out on the water.

Sounds crowded....combine that with cold water and a high chance of being robbed at gun point, I think I may give it a miss, but thanks anyway.....

Cape Town is awesome. Food and drink is cheap in comparison to oz and the party scene is amazing. My last visit in May last year I found the security much better than previous trips. It can be crowded but there are heaps of options if you look around. The water is only really cold on the Atlantic side the Indian ocean side is fine.

Ps the great whites are well feed and prefer seals there are very few shark attacks in Cape Town

Hahaha.

Been kiting with both men's and women's world champs most days right here in Aus and I don't even need a wetty .

P.s. South Africa is pretty cool though, I enjoyed it a lot, I wouldn't be hanging around Cape Town though if I had the chance to go elsewhere.

South Africa can go F... It's self, 1 rape and murder every 3 mins, worst aids HIV epidemic in the world, reverse racism ( rainbow nation my arse) corruption and rapid destruction of natural wild life thanks to poaching. No thanks plenty of other country's far more beautiful and safer to visit.

Well there's a profoundly learned and obviously well traveled opinion.... Albeit, a bit "forward" racist.... but hey you're gonna get that.

The last time I kited Blougerg was on a North Rhino 7m (not a Rhino II) - all the people you mentioned were still in primary / pre school, still to discover kite boarding and there was me and 1 other guy out on the whole beach - that was a great kiting trip!

9 days to go and I jump on a plane for ZA - will be heading up to Mozambique this time though with the kites . . . report in 4 weeks :)

I'm going to chime in here too, the list of countries I've been to, for work and play, is longer than a very long thing. South Africa is awesome, and Cape Town is a big highlight. I have to put Cape Town and Vancouver as top cities for me in the world. The Cape has its challenges, but so does Oz, just in different ways, but if you haven't been there...... what can I say...... go! Kiting is just a small part of why you should.

You're alive, so live! You owe it to yourself.

From what I have heard there landscape is very similar to WA.I ll defiantly check it out at some stage ,but right now we have good wind here.Just head further north of perth where it blows its bazookas off most days of the week with out having to pay $2000 for a ticket to get there and back.Camping out is cheap and there is 2000 ks of waves, flat water lagoons and huge down winder stretches for everyone.

President Jacob Zuma of South Africa sings of murdering whites

"All whites are seen as "boers". Remember the other song "kill the boer and kill the farmer". Yesterday in court a ...
And just recently a yank one an auction bid of 400k to go there and hunt and kill an endangered rhino for "conservation" purposes, these are just some of the reasons why I wouldn't spent a single dollar in this corrupt racist country, it needs to have an embargo place against it again

Hi diamond2001
Your right head north out of Cape Town and it is very like WA. North of Perth
Head east and it is very different to any where in Oz. Real Mountains
You'll notice if you ever go. A 1klm tall mountain rises out of the CBD

Shame75
You hold some bitter resentment there
Luckily there was a person like Nelson Mandela.
There are plenty of other smart People in RSA who want to make it work!
I'd love to do a kite against racism from Muizenberg to Strand or the other way.

Sure Nelson Mandela fought for the freedom of his people, but you all forget he was jailed for being head of the ANC known for its terrorist acts and killing many people in the process, even the US condemned these acts back in the 80's and the only reason he wasn't let out earlier was because he refused to denounce political violence. The only difference between him and Osama bin laden was that he never branched out to attacking other nations. Oh and he had good media representation .
Also the resentment, well I'm not an Africana but we did move there in the late 70's from the Uk and we left after the ANC "Mandela's" group set off the Amanzimtoti bomb killing friends there and wounding my dad who just walked past the bin seconds before it went off.

Shame 75
Nelson Mandela had justifiable reasons being the leader of a terrorist organization
How many 10's of thousands were killed by the SADF and there subsidueres.
The apartheid geoverment was evil. F.W de Klerk was the only one to see sense
I know this because I live in RSA from the eighties to the mid nineties.
I also spent a lot of time in the townships around Joburg in the last five years I was there.
He had no other option
Nelson Mandela was a Freedom Fighter
