Just a warning that yesterday(Sunday 6th Jan) i was at woodman point 2nd carpark off o'kane St.On beach for 40 mins, when a guy with his family came on the beach asking about the parked up vehicles.Returned to find my Van window smashed, phones and wallets stolen along with my sons brand new i.phone . (total 3 phones )
2 Wallets, my 8m bandit kite (brown),shorts and t shirts.probably some white Trash on acid or other?
Hate to think it was a fellow kiter?
heard some time ago that this happens now and again at this spot?
Thanks to the swedish family and kiter who lent us a mobile phone to call the police.
Also prior to this I would like to comment on the idiot instructor? who was teaching someone to water start,we were waiting for his student to walk past us upwind while i was unhooking/swapping over a kite so we were waiting for him to pass by.The instructor (flexing his authority told us 'drop yer kite mate")thinking we were in some kind of strife! what is it with some people can't keep their mouths shut thinking they own the beach.if he really thought we were in trouble, which we were not,why didn't he take the 10 metre walk over to us to help.
overall not fond memories of that place, think i will stick to the Northern spots
Who leaves 3 phones 2 wallets and a kite in the car when parking at a location that is known for break ins?
Maybe WAKSA should be asking the council if they can install a few cameras around the place. These low life nob heads who smash and grab really piss me off.
Who leaves 3 phones 2 wallets and a kite in the car when parking at a location that is known for break ins?
do you leave your phone, spare kite and money all at home Hybrid?

guess you never think it'll happen to you, hindsights a wonderful thing. items were out of view in glovebox apart from the kite.
guess its a reality check for what some people are like in this world.

just because it is out of sight doesn't mean that will deter the thief . they know that most people are too lazy to remove anything of value , especially from a remote spot like woodies .
Anyone is entitled to leave their own property locked in their own car , the point of the story is the mongrels that stole it ,it seems now your treated like a fool if you become a victim of crime . As though you somehow did something wrong and need to be told off .
I often have a phone and spare kites in my car , often I need a kite I wasn't expecting to need but brought with for this very reason , this is my right as the owner of the property .
And it has crossed my mind that I could lose them , but you can't live like that or you would be scared your car gets stolen while your out there , oh you left your keys in a lock box ??? Have you learnt anything from this , everyone who kites leaves some window of opportunity for scum to do this .

My phone is part of my wallet and i am often "working" when kiting so cant leave it at home. Always leave somewhere where you would have to search bloody hard to find it. Never take spare kites to Woodies.
Sorry about your **** day Evans, i went there myself about 4, too freaking busy so didn't go out(have been kiting on my own previous 8 days in Yanchep), how do those low life's get away with it when its that busy, surely someone would see.

Yeah it's all so easy for you say this now. It could have happened to anyone, you obviously have no idea how angry and upset we are to have been robbed like this and we get these horrible uncompassionate comments! Geez you guys are brave talkers over the internet, be interesting to hear your comments said to my face! I've always left phones & wallets in the car all my life especially when surfing and I've never had anything stolen, there aren't too many places (especially more populated carparks) where someone will just walk up to a car and break the window, it simply didn't occur to me that this would happen.
DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING FROM THIS EVANS ????
Oh and to this guy right here.... OF COURSE WE LEARNT SOMETHING!!! I've learned something else too, how bloody rude people can be on these forums! maybe you should think about how much you can piss someone off before you fire away thoughtless comments! you really are a "NoB"
I got my window smashed and phone and wallet stolen at Triggs yesterday. They were hidden from view, in a hiding spot in my car so they fairly rifled through everything. Yes my wallet was in my car, but I believed my hiding spot was good! And that it was safer than in my kite bag on the beach.
A police car drove by as I was inspecting the damage so was able to report it on the spot.
Cancelled the cards, no one had used them, not even a pay wave. Did a find my phone. They were in Mirabooka. I locked the phone remotely with a message on the screen that I knew where they lived.
NoBS, I learnt that all thieves are ****s. But then I guess I already knew that.
Hey Jevans. My window was also smashed at woodman point this time last year, they got away with my wife's handbag. It was also well hidden but they managed to find it. I went looking up by the ship yards and was able to find all our belongings excluding the cash. We got everything back, they just dumped it. It would be worth while going to have a look.

What would you do face to face ?
Assault someone ?
Come on mate, calm down . I understand you are pissed about loosing stuff but be thankful you are still breathing and able to enjoy this fantastic city . Scum will be scum and they don't give a **** about other people's property . Kite's can be replaced , lives can't be . I'm sorry but thieves breakin into places where you would think they wouldn't . They are very smart at making people passing by think that it is their car .

Evans sorry too hear I learnt the hard way as well, first weekend in Perth years ago rented a scooter to check out Woodman point returned to find scooter stolen.
Now back in Qld same here cars left in isolated surfing spots getting windows smashed and everything stolen.
Solution drive a **** car leave it unlocked keep your phone and wallet under a sleeping hungry pit bull.
Feel so sorry for u guys this is happing far to often and if r not on these forums ppl got no idea this happens regularly
Would love to set these guys up and then do the right thing call the police even that they probley only get a slap on the wrist
Sad - sorry to hear especially when new / visiting a place...
I decided to add my stock of kit to the house insurance - one less thing to worry about....
cheers AP
Thats actually not a bad idea! Will have to check my insurance out.
Whilst i park in plain view of a busy footpath, houses and plenty of traffic i rarely take my phone or wallet anytime i go to the beach. I also leave my glove box open. As much as it sucks, i figure if someone elses car is an easy target mine is left alone.
I'm surprised no ones hid and waited at places like woodies. You cant really rely on the police too much and it happens all the time. When i did my lessons the bloke left his doors unlocked and windows down
I too had my car broken into at Trigg 3rds yesterday - must have come out of the water just after Glug had reported his break in / theft to the cops.
Got to my car after washing off and noticed that my glovebox and centre console was open - went around to the other side of the car the b@stards had jimmied my drivers side lock to get it. Rifled through the car and borrowed to never return my 1 week old iPhone5S... had another kite and surfboard in the car which they didn't appear to be interested in.
Nothing of value visible from the outside and also have (or now had!) a usual hiding spot for phone, wallet etc but the crackers must have had a similar idea.I don't usually take a wallet down for that reason, but that's not always practical. Unlucky but lucky this time. To me it's the frustration, inconvenience and time lost to sort out the new phone, cards, car repairs etc rather than the material loss itself, which of course also sucks big sweaty balls...
Was also parked at the front row, right next to the pedestrian / cycle path about 4 bays down from the shower. At that time on a summery Sunday, there's a fair amount of foot or bicycle traffic going past, so they must have been pretty efficient to hit a couple of cars without anyone noticing.
Thanks to the fellow kiter that lent me his phone to call the cops to report it. He was parked 3 cars down from me with some valuables in the car but was lucky they got cars either side!
I pulled up at woodies for a kite on Saturday, a lady walked past n she said to me watch your valuables as there are thieves around. She said someone tried to enter her car and rummage around when her kids were inside. I asked if she got the vehicle description, she said no, it was a middle aged women tho.

Hey Rusta. Ship yards? which one's exactly? could be worth a look.
I'm a QLDer with NFI where in WA woodies, trigg, etc are and even I know not to leave anything valuable in a car there. WA way worse than QLD for car break ins, in a different league.
/yes the constant "break ins at woodies" threads should be in the WA section too ![]()

I FARKING hate thieving scum. Hopefully someone catches some of them some time and smashes their faces in.
But what I don't understand is why someone would steal an iPhone (and possibly other brands) that can be remotely locked and wiped? What's the use of it? Pointless and of no value anymore?

we are talking about petty thieves not rocket scientists here .
Have windsurfed at at Melville for 20 years and have never had my car broken into, touch wood. Went a few times to Rockingham, once with a friends wagon and it got knocked off within half an hour! Standing on the sand bank my friend said my car is not in the carpark anymore,to which i replied, dont be stupid.it must be! My new trainers, clothes, food etc all gone. Friend never did get the old Ford wagon back. (He put the keys somewhere on top of the tyre) Or my friends various other older sails and boards. Thank you to the high profile judge who drove us back to Perth, forget his name now. Woodmans Pt has a well deserved reputation by the sounds of it.
If you have no alternative but to leave gear in the car I know that hiking stores sell steel mesh (looks like chicken wire) bags, to put your kite or backpack in, that are secured with hardened steel wire trace and a padlock. Lock it to a secure point in your car. You can also get in-car safes from Bunnings or othe big hardware stores for wallets and phones that can be secured to points like the legs of seat rails. I have one of these. That way you can leave the car open and windows down. These thieves generally aren't bright enough to carry something that can cut hardened steel wire trace.

Actually it would help if he changed his name from "NoBS" to "ExclusivelyBS", would be much more accurate. ![]()
