Just do this then......

get the smallest kite you own, pump it up, remove the bridle
Hold it above your head.

Sweeeeeeeeeet.

I just find it hilarious that its basically the failed WindWeapon from the early 1980's (albeit a worse version due to being inflatable) with a foil from the same time (albeit refined now)

Sooooo progressive.

Naish budget will ensure its a success.

Just about every kite brand is about to release their own version of the wing: Duotone, Naish, Slingshot and Cabrinha to name a few. I think the wing has its place and advantages, reckon it's going to be around for years.

I reckon it's the worst of both worlds.

I bet you make your own within 2 years out of old gear in your shed.

Nah, Kitewing has been around since mid 2000's. Its not a new thing other than they have changed the struts to lei. I didnt get into it then, nor now.

Fck this off to the genderless windsurf forum .

It has little to do with kitesurfing.

Foils came, went, came back again, got good, got better and better and better and better ....

The wing surfers have come, gone, come back again and that's as far as we've gone so far. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Soon wind winging will be as popular as Street SUP

I am looking forward to see how it pans out. It could be a very useful tool to have.

My one niggling concern is that it promises that we can catch waves, turn off the sail, properly surf the wave, then sail back out again. You'd think that with all the brands and riders testing them then we would see somebody doing exactly that. It shouldn't be that hard to do in front of a camera. The most I have seen is somebody riding about 5 seconds of slop.

Ive never seen a foil boarder properly surf a wave ever

That's because foiling is not surfing the wave. It's foiling with the energy of the wave. Totally different feeling and experience. To say I've never seen a foil properly surf a wave is to miss the point entirely.

for example but not related to surfing. We went wakeboarding the other day. Also took a surfboard to scurf and my prone foilboard. Played around on all three. They are just very different feels and experiences and require different skill sets. To say one is not like the other is a futile process and meaningless to be honest.

I think it's got potential myself and I see some pretty interesting downwinder potential on a sup foil. Bit cumbersome on a wave maybe. Who knows where it will lead. Exciting. Reckon inland crew on lakes and whatsnot would enjoy it with their normal shifty winds. Even coastal crew with crappy wind conditions.

Hey gets you on the water and that's all that matters hey.

Im bullish on it.

I've been a kiter for 18 years now, and I'm with you. Anything that gets you on the water.
For light winds on an SUP could be fun....especially s the design develops.
All the " I'm cooler than you because I kite" attitude is so predictable and dull.

Bingo!

It has nothing to do with kite surfing. It's not even a kite!

I can just see the tears from your partners and wives.

Husband: Honey I need $1200 to buy a kite-wing (or what ever it's called)
Wife: WTF!? You've just asked me for $3000 to buy foils and boards and now you want to be a sheep like everyone else?!!?
Husband: I've always been a sheep.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Just guessing you believe the "wing" is here to stay. Plenty times I've gone on a long SUP and wind has picked up earlier than expected, if I had one of these in my backpack it would have been way easier to get home than the upwind paddle I've done. Wing has its place ......

What if your a monkey up an awesome tree and don't want to swim?

What if you had a poisonous fish, a cat and a tree on a deserted island? would the fish climb the tree? would the cat eat the poisonous fish and die? We do not know. Until we observe the fish and cat on the deserted island the fish and cat are alive and dead at the same time!

If I am in the forest and talk and my missis doesn't hear me, am I still wrong?

I stayed up all night last night wondering where the sun went.... then it dawned on me!

On a serious note. I see the usefulness of this kind of device for the dedicated waterman. That type of dude like Eppo that has many watery toys to draw from. For multi-skilled waterman this simply adds another string to his bow of water toys to expand his grin factor and water time.

Wow. I don't ask. New boards go in old bags, if caught out who GAF what she thinks.

Hiding it just means you're more of a wimp than the guy who needs to ask

Me:
"What's in the box?"
"New kite."
"Okay. What color?"

Actually with me it's more like:
"What's in the box?"
"New bar/board/part to replace the stuff I broke."

The fish I've spoken to really enjoy Foil Supping, and downwind Supping / foiling and they see value in the new idea.

I'm not one of these Fish (currently) hence I try not to judge them but try and see it from their perspective which doesn't include climbing a tree.

This video shows a bit more promising footage. I'd like to see wave riding on a normal SUP or longboard.

All the benefits of surfing, suping, kitesurfing and windsurfing in one inexpensive package.

To resist this new and exciting sporting lifestyle is futile.

Open you mind and get involved, in 3 years time when these things have evolved with 10-20m jumps, deep barrels and a plethora of amazing freestyle tricks you will regret it.
