If you can smoke one, off the wind plums I'm all ears.... Maybe you have a special speed mutant to take care of business?
A speed mutant.... now that's a good idea!... No. I have no such location locally for offwind flatwater speed runs.
The closest I get to that scenario is when I step off the water and onto the land into my kitebuggy. The kitebuggy smokes the hell out of the land equivalent of a windsurfer a blocart.
come on grandpa we better take this back over to XK or was that kiteforum ? think theres a small section of my brain that exists to read your thousands of posts i thought i talked a bit of **** but i seem to have been on all the forums longer then you somehow. while im at it taranaki is for kooks
It is hilarious whatching their sails flop over when the wind drops a tad and we go zooming past with grins on our heads

If you don't like my posts you can always choose not to read them.

It's hilarious when the wind drops and the kites fall out of the sky, while I stand easy on my big waveboard, put-put back out and ride more waves while they are untangling their lines... Hehe.
tried that, windsurfed for 10 years then kite, windsurf sup sux
A pretty famous kiter, I believe 3 time world wave champ has gotten into wind sup a little lately. Says it's pretty fun. Dude could probably rip windsurfing if he wanted, but seems too busy getting gnarly barrels with the kite.
I think lotowind really nailed it with his last post, most of those observations about windsurfing are true, but it doesn't make it suck for us... it's just more rewarding when we do drop into that set wave or score a powered up jump. Windsurfing and kiting are so different, feel so different, have different skill sets... I can't believe people really want to waste time comparing them. Luckily where I sail and kite, the elite kite guys like Felix P., Tophat, Reo, Rafal, etc. are stoked to see somebody windsurfing because they all came from windsurfing. Those guys hoot you into waves, let you take off with them even if they are deeper, and generally just give you a lot of respect because they know what it's like to sail.

keahi is sponsored by sup companys hes been working in this role his entire life pretty much i wouldnt be surprised if he genuinely loved every single aspect of everything all his sponsors do. its basicly impossible to get anything negative out of him. so take that for what its worth. if you want to impress me get someone who hates something to convert and become an advocate like.....oh i dont know the majority of kiters who are ex poleys
i teach kiteing and windsurfing i can get a 70 year old geez tacking and jibeing faster then i can get one makeing a downlooop transition or any transition on a kite. and im much better at teaching kiteing then windsurfing. so i dont fully understand the stigma behind the rugby league / union differences thugs game gentlemen blah blah cause honestly i think there equally easy/difficult sports the right equipment in the right conditions has a fair bit to it. most the windsurfings harder to start crowd but easier to perfect or vice versa seam to have been restricted in time or simply didnt own 6 oxen and a tractor to carry all the windsurfing gear about. there is plenty of windsurfing simulators but i havent seen an appropriate kite surfing simulator.
i travel alot so its kites and paragliders for me. IF i was a little older and had a house with a big shed and a big ass van i MAY just have been a windsurfer and hanglider sorta bloke with the mullet and fast shades but ultimately the whole reason for the sport and living as a wind gypsey is as much about knowing and understanding the elements as it is to float and sail thru them. ill never own a ppg or a v8 it would make my kiteing/gliding meaningless. that being said i probably catch a few more international flights but hay if my numbers come up in the lotto maybe ill get a sailboat to sort that out. when you are windsurfing the elements mean just that little bit less to you, and so does hanggliding. the thrill of a collapse is something else. rigid wings and sails certaintly have there benefits but i quite enjoy the almost tangible aspect of it all. i hope the windsurfers help the kiters out against any sort of regulations or liscenceing when the time comes. were about to loose a flying site on the sunshine coast because they think paragliders have gopros on there helmets to spy on there children thru the windows completely glossing over the fact they dont own the air or that most pilots are firmly busy makeing sure they dont have a life changeing experience anytime soon. the cameras are seen as a safety device in our circle they help us with collisions accidents etc etc so we can see exactly what happened and why and correct for future. but chuck in a few "think of the children" and "as a mother/lawyer"s and its all over. getting a bit jack of this country and all the bull****. makes me wonder why i invest so much time here.
