It will come to u. Dont give up. One day itll just click and itll all be history after that. Only been kiting since January 2014. Live near sunshine coast and as with most kiters around here devo about the current conditions. Looking forward to some wind and warmer weather. Spent what felt like an iternity going no where other then doing my best to fill my pants with sand. Literally felt like someone was shoveling it in there. (Learned at weyba) (shallow/gusty)
Where abouts are u currently kiting? I agree with the guys more power is easier. just dive the kite progressively harder till u find what feels right. I found pointing the board towards the kite was the easiest way to get out.
Talk to other kiters when ur having a breather on the bank. Helped me out allot. And surprisingly everyone is helpful and generally just a great group of people. I had the advantage of kiting with my mate for quite a few of my first sessions and he would give me pointers/laugh at me out on the water. Because sometimes even when u think u know what your trying to do... it just doesnt go the way u planned. And u face plant and the man starts shoveling sand in there again hahaha. Be interested to know how u find your new kite. Looking to expand the quiver this season with a 9 and 14 to go with the 12. If I can convice the mrs to stop spending all our money on horses. Im 87kg and 134x41 board. Bigger board is easier when learning. Borrowed my mates 142x42 while learning... helps

I appreciate the effort of typing my tag in backwards - and spelling it right. Many can't do it forwards ![]()
Jackpot , yeah nothing like a good face plant and drag to make you glad you took up kiting
I definitely intend to keep at it, I have taken advice from the folks on forum , and already I am starting to improve , still not there yet but the tweaks in technique I have learned is certainly helping , the 14 metre draft is an awesome kite , ( for me at least ) with lots of bar pressure it helps me feel what the kite is doing plus there are no pulleys on the bridles so the steering is very direct . It's a little scary in gusty conditions though as it wants to zip all over the window if you don't keep an eye on it when getting your board on your feet . I had it out in 10 to 15 at yorkeys knob , the other day and I hardly even had to bar in at all to water start , it lifts you just by diving the kite . Can't wait to actually ride it . The 145 hero is good for me too as I find it a lot more stable than the 8 year old second hand naish I was practicing with.![]()

You are well on your way there. Give us an update after this season. Most likely you will be hooting and screaming with excitement!! ![]()
The correct amount of power eg kite size vs wind strength plays a big part. Tie a piece of rope to something at 45degees attach rope to your harness Lean back at 45 degrees with a kitesurfing stance to get the feel. Remember you are not balancing as in surfing you have to edge and lean back otherwise you will be pulled over the board downwind.

It all takes time and the best way to learn is ask people ,so many people are willing to help.
i too am a nubee start of this summer diving kite then takeoff going15mt or so then sinking down, fellow kiter yelled out as he went by said get the kite back up and let the bar out a little then dive kite again, he said think a little bit ahead before you slow to much,I am having so much fun now ![]()
Hey Efil.., As dolphin said, get your self used to balancing at 45 Deg to some thing. I was at your stage for a season, then had a 1hr lesson being shown what I should have been shown in my 600 dollar up and ride package. Bar in down, bar out up. Don't give up man - I'm 43 going on 14- pure stoke !!!
It will click !!!
I've never been called a noob before! Not sure if it's a good or a bad thing!
As one of the young ppl out here (
) I would like to let you know that 'noob' is a term of endearment which kiters have coined to enable us all to pretend that we are all stoked that you newcomers come along to crowd out our beaches and totally FK up any/every launch site for all of us 'real cool' kiters out there
But hey - we love you Dan. Hope you graduate soon & get the FK out of everyones way asap !!!!![]()
