The Lighthouse to Leighton returns in 2013 with once again spaces for 110 competitors to vie for the title, the trophy, the $1500 first prize and the bragging rights to say they won!

Race Day is Saturday 14th December with a scheduled start: 14:30hrs from Phillip Point, Rottnest Island. A reserve day of Sunday 15th is also booked if * no to low wind * is forecast for the 14th.

This year's race will be part of the kite boarding festival that is the: 2013 Kiteracing Oceanic Championships. See: kiteoceanics.com/ so expect the competition to be even hotter than before!

As well, Alex Caizergues, the inaugural winner and record holder of 24m:34s has confirmed and booked his flights to be on the start line!

In memory of Marc Sprod, we are initiating and awarding a new perpetual trophy to the highest placed Western Australian.

For improved results in 2013 we will be using TracTrac (see: www.tractrac.com/) to enhance the race results and tracking - this is super exciting, genuine real time race analysis!

Invitations are out to kite boarders from around the world to enter during the nomination period, 01 October 2012 to 31 October. The ballot for places will take place at Kite Addiction at 6pm on Monday 4th November, 2012.

Register at www.lighthouse2leighton.com.au - with 31 days to enter, so no rush!

Can't wait. Australia's best kiting event, well run, great location, great people. Thanks Tim! Hope to see you all out on the water.

Hi Picker et al, After three super superb years Red Bull will not be naming rights sponsors this year. The Red Bull support in 2010, 2011 and 2012 was tremendous!

This year the L2L will be closely linked in with the 2013 Kiteracing Oceanic Championships - making for a no doubt even higher profile race. Roll on race day!

Yeah I had trouble to Dusta, that link took you to the 2012 page.

I found a way through the kiteoceanics.com link, try this it should be a direct link to registration page. (not sure if I should have done that, now there might be more entries in the hat).

Yes, foil boards are allowed, for sure.

! For some reason the event entry system is (still) pointing to the 2012 event. I'll have this fixed pronto.

In the meantime this url will take you there directly: www.cvent.com/events/the-2013-lighthouse-to-leighton/archived-c68094f393cc45e286d79e0b6a790674.aspx

105 entries received! Awesome support kiters of the world. And still 22 days until entry period closes...

Registrations are still open for 2013 Kiteracing Oceanic Championships too - what a combo, Oceanics and the L2L.

Roll on a steady 22 knots for Saturday 14th December 2013.

And a sneak preview of the 2013 race lycras, Mr J Keys winner of 2012 will seek to defend his title in the much sought, Yellow Lycra, everyone else will be in blue or purple. Fingers crossed for more breezes for training, ... so who is using a foil?!

I got my conformation email today but the process was still super confusing! Anyway this will be my first L2L and I am thinking my thruster surfboard might now be up for the task. Anyone like to talk kit?

Sci, what was confusing? We endeavour to make the process clean and easy to understand!

FYI, emails went out to everyone who has won a spot in the ballot late last night. !!! Check your JUNK mail too !!! a few reported cases of emails being delivered there...

Those that missed out, a few further spaces MAY be available, so official * rejection * emails are yet to go out...

Thanks to the ~ 30 crew who enjoyed the beer n BBQ last night.

I thought there was 24 places for girls?

I might be wrong,

But if thats the case, I say well done.

More girls the better.

The reason might be because some of the WACK girls already got free entry and sponsorship. Can't have a free ride and affirmative action at the same time!

Just because im female does not make me a part of WACK - I am not a part of WACK, and completely disagree with everything they represent - and if they got a free ride i think its complete crap.
