so what youre saying is not to do this? whoops

yeh thats stupid. what if you kook it and fall out of the sky on him? wouldnt look so cool wrapped up in lines apologising.

I think it is ignorance like this that has increased the frustration and anger at the simple lack of respect for others in the ocean.
Kiting has opened the door to many people that have not experienced playing on the ocean, especially in waves. Now dont get me wrong i think this is amazing, and lets all have fun out there, but time and time again i see those that come out with a little bit of kite skill and a lot of ego and start slashing on down winder 1 footers then suddenly they are boss hog and want more and more and more.
Next minute they are going thru' line ups at the busier sections of perth, prob carried away with their stoke level and just dropping in on others, kiters, surfers, scaring the crap outta surfers and swimmers in the water that cannot get out the way so quick...
Then i see euro's and un-surf-educated riding places like boat ramps in head and a half not giving 2 sh!ts about the line up, the circle you work on kiting or sailing out, waiting your turn, getting a swell from out the back and then riding it in, thats right the swell you choose from out back, dont matter if it phases out or you run out of wind power and decide to drop off the back and take the next one that the next person has spent time working on only to be dropped in by these clowns that rightfully think it is now their wave because they are deeper. no mate you cant do that, you cant short tack a line up without getting a talking to.

Its simple really, have respect for everyone and expect it back.
dont kite on top of each other
dont kite on top of surfers or swimmers
if you are close make sure they know you can see them
learn the rules of surfing waves
if you are twin tipping and boosting, cool but generally someone riding the waves dont really care too much about your stale fish on top of them, go down a bit and hit the kickers by urself saving everyone the worry of getting tangled.
chill, take depp breaths and sometimes reset brain as we get testosterone flowing and rage building, we are out there to have fun. lets try.

ok rant over.

I mostly agree with your rant. With the exception of TT riders boosting should not boost where other kiters a riding waves.

Sure if there's better places to boost ramps them yes. Boost at the better boosting spot. But often the best spot for boosting is the best spot for wave riding. You want the steepest section of wave and get the biggest piece if flat for a run up. That typically is at the best wave riding spot on the best.

Taking your first piece of advice. Give respect and expect it back, You need to respect the TT boosters desire to boost the best portion of the beach as much as he should respect your enjoyment of riding the waves. Why should the booster give up the prime location so you can ride waves? also you should not give you your wave riding for his boosting,

Both booster and wave rider can co-exist on the same break. You can find a rhythm that means the wave rider gets the juicy wave you the boost gets a sweet ramp.

Amusingly the roles are reversed at my local. The best wave riders go and ride them premium waves which is expected. The boosters stick close in to the launch sight where there are usually smaller waves but are real nice to boost off, they can be pretty average to wave ride. The less experience wave riders cluster the smaller worse wave ridding/better boosting spot making it difficult for the boosters to get a clean boost.

Fair call mate. i shall keep that in mind.
i generally move to another bank (loose word for perth) as you can never predict if a booster will land it, crash it, loop it, how long they are gonna float and if they are going to be out of your way whilst you are coming in on a swell line. Just no point risking potential collision. done my time undooing knots back 2 line days.

Lets just put signs up everywhere, cant do this, nuh that's not allowed. only every second Tuesday. How come every tosser who currently surfs thinks nobody else has or does even can. get over yourselves

I can use my own judgement just fine and don't need rulz Nazi's taking over. Surfing used to be good until you came along, just want to over govern everything and write for ten years don't do that or accident will happen, yeah no **** then you can say told you so. what about all the people getting smashed in cars why don't you go and warn them as well.

Fricken hell might go and buy a surf ski they seem to be socially acceptable now.

The booster shouldn't be boosting in your way while your wave riding. This is the key, The line up of wave riders hunts the biggest sets rides down the line then fangs back out to sea to work back upwind again. If they get it right they time their next wave ride with the next big set.
The booster doesn't need the biggest waves of the set, He can be fanging upwind in the shallows when the big sets roll in. Then he can boost to his hearts content on the smaller sets when the wave riders are tacking out to sea.

If the location supports it. the booster can boost off 20-30m downwind of a wave the same wave a wave rider is just about to start riding and boost out of the way of the wave rider. It takes some timing and understanding of the boost and the DTL riding.,,,

I do both, boost and wave ride at the same time. For me only wave riding is wasting half the waves potential!... . .. . . . . . . . So I respect the wave rider and the booster equally....

I would be so thrilled if someone said I was dangerous, they normally just ask if it hurts crashing so much.

So after the downinder at South Trigg last night a big burly dude squared up to me and announced "me and my crew were dangerous"...

I'd never seen him before, and it was just my mate & I anyways, so i asked him to explain and he stated a kiter clipped his mate whilst buzzing their take off section in the lineup. Why he was trying to surf in 25 knots i'll never know, but i thought i'd just mention it out of courtesy to our fellow watermen & women. Can we please not treat the surfers like ramps (or speed bumps ) ? Its getting busy down there but there is plenty of space if we ride either side of the surfing spot.

...and they never found his mate, who was sliced in half by James's razor sharp foil doing Mach 10...!
