I reckon half the people in the buy and sell section are high when they price their second hand gear , a guy is selling a firewire 2014 baked potato asking $900 with 2 poxy low quality straps installed. You can buy them new for $850 online , probally rip $100 off that price if you negotiate well at a shop .
Agreed. There was a discussion on here some 6 months ago about the increase in retail $ for 2016 gear. Since then everyone selling gear has increased $ as well. I remember buying 2013 RPM kites last year for 700-800, this year a 2013 is $900 wtf!!!!!![]()
I disagree, I think used gear is still very cheap in comparison to what a new kite costs now in AUS and also relative to the 2nd hand market world wide.
* yawn *
new kite prices have gone up 30% in the last 2-3 years so S/H gear follows
its also very seasonal and plenty of noobs start around this time so S/H gear moves fast meaning sellers can have ambitious prices, probably no-one sells their gear for their asking price, buyers will always haggle.

I was.

Seriously?
I get a 2015 kite with little use is still great but plenty of blokes expecting far too much for 2nd hand kites from 5 or 6 years ago. There are currently 92 pages of kites for sale on seabreeze. Supply is far greater than demand and when the product has a limited shelf life, it will significantly hurt resale. A 2016 kite going up 30% is irrelevant for a 2011 kite.
Not to mention those kites with "professional repairs". Just like a car or a boat, it means SFA.
FWIW, i advertised a 12m core GT. Kite was fine, just old. I thought a fair value was $300. I got 1 offer in 8 weeks. $100 so i took it. If not it would have just ended up in bulk rubbush in 2 or 3 years time..
Second hand prices are stupid. The 2014-2015 stuff is very similar to retail, other old gear is way too expensive, I've seen 2008 Cabrinha kites selling for $900, WTF. A lot of kites selling are repaired/damaged and selling in my opinion at the price of undamaged gear. I reckon if you wreck your gear, you got to take $200-$300 off.
i have never sold anything online without someone trying to offer $100 less then the price. so now i just add $100 to everything i want to sell, then they think theyre getting a bargain and im getting what i originally wanted.
S/h pricing is self policing. The item is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. So if its listed for higher than that it wont sell. The seller will reduce the price over time until it sells.
Then when it sells that's what its worth!
If I'm selling to anyone in NZ I advertise my gear with an added 45%. I like to call it the "sweet as" tax.
It's only fair.
If they don't want to pay it I don't enforce it, however I usually throw some broken glass in the rolled up kite as a secondary measure.
Keep in mind that whatever price you list, some **** is going to offer you a quarter of that and think that's reasonable...

I like to call that the "worth a shot" offer technique.. Do I really need another kite/board? No. Would I buy one for the right price any way? Yes.

Now why do you get green thumbs, when I've asked the same thing time and time again here?
Funny how the buyers are the one's whinging in here and the sellers are happy protecting their for-sale prices. But Plums is right. It's what YOU are prepared to pay. Stiff chedda otherwise.
I just gave a mate a 2014 10m kite in great condition because I upgraded and couldnt be fragged selling it.
He has a family and never spends money on himself he was still using a 2007 kite.
Paying it forward is a nice feeling

The seller's are protecting **** though. The majority of people just over estimate the value of their goods. You'll hear nothing from them but deep down they know. Dreams ARE free though so good luck to them.
5 year old kites are no different to 5 year old car tyres. Well used and worth SFA. You want to make money? Buy gold, F40's or watches .
I agree a lot of the second hand gear on here is way overpriced but there are still some amazing deals to be had-
2015 Naish Fly, very little use, literally as new condition, kite only $1000 (less than half new price)
2013 BWS Noise Pro 10m $450 with bar (above the bar de-power)
absolute bargains !!
PM me if your keen!!

Exactly! This thread is laugh worthy, probably started by the same goose who was having a cry on Aussie Boarders Swap Shop last week
.

Wasn't that lofty having a cry?
What a quack thread
I think OP you need to find all the overpriced stuff then call the sellers and tell them they are asking too much. You will then make the world a much better place for all of us. Thanks for volunteering.

Ring em up and tell em their dreamin.
It's cheaper to purchase a second hand compstick bar complete than it is to purchase 2 depower rope/flag lines.
Don't even get me started on dump valves.

Don't forget plums that you get time wasting gits that make sellers go to their local post office , pack and weigh their kites get quotes for shipping to sheep shaggers land, deduct that cost as a favour and still get furked over, sound familiar
I have found amazing deals on ebay and gumtree for kites and boards where i have found a learner trying to exit the sport , but on seabreeze there seems to be a really high number of dreamers who think there gear appriciates over time ....
. Btw i just saw a naish AR 3.5 offered for$400 the seller says it is still crispy lol
These threads are silly........
If you think something is overpriced....... dont buy it
If it is overpriced.... it wont sell
Simple economics
People are entitled to advertise at what ever price they like.......offer a price you think is realistic. If they dont take it.... move on
Spend less time in buy and sell
PS. the rant on the FB selling page was hilarious........hey lofter

Well i did feel bad about that. I was tee'd up ready to go then backed my ute into the concrete wall... $1000 excess. Then I cracked to tooth and $1200.......
Now my dh bike has lunched its front fork so that needs replacing..... Kite purchases are on hold for a while.
2011 Best Waroo - 13 metre
only 850...been in storage since 2011...
fckn bargain fellas...
Lets say you start to lean to kite, buy a $2500 kite from the local kite shop. Then its just too hard and you mothball the kite in the corner of your garage always intending to give it another go. 5 years go past and you think I better sell this thing. Its hardly ever been used. Some dude will get a freaken deal $2500 for $850.
Simply you have no idea of the high depreciation of kites.
