Just reading this forum now for the first time. I am also looking for a spot(s) where you can anchor a yacht and kitesurf waves nearby. Spent months looking but not found anything yet. I have been to some islands in Polynesia and the set up there might be ideal, with waves breaking on reefs that protect a calm lagoon between the reef and the islands. My research continues. Anyone found the answer yet?
If you?re considering Greece, the Cyclades islands is a great spot for cruising and kiting. There?s a 99% chance of sunshine during summer and epic wind (But no waves). There are good kite beaches on Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, plus a few other spots around the islands too. (I would suggest trying to get a charter out of one of those islands) Because the wind is pretty heavy, the sailing is not exactly for beginners.
If you do end up heading that way, PM me and I'll give you some details on the spots, where to anchor, etc.
Thanks Burls. I have sailed in the Cyclades and agree that it's not for beginners, even though I was one at the time, sailing single handed. Ha. Definitely chasing the waves these days and I haven't see any in a total of 7 months sailing the Med in Summer time. Be grateful for any pointers there. I did find a bunch of answers on the Cabrinha Quest web site - cabrinhaquest.com/ - captain's log under "Latest".
