I thought a permit has been granted to Soul Kite only? Over the last few days there was at least 4 different schools including Elemental and KSS (without helmet or impact vest of course).

Are they allowed to teach there?

I spotted some knobhead teaching two poor souls in gusty crap SE conditions the other day 15m directly upwind of exposed rocks in ankle deep water. Don't know who it is but they teach there regularly. You sir are a dickhead.

River is to ocean as Sao crackers is to Pavlova.
Let the first year apprentices have it, it'll keep 'em from crowding the beaches.

Really? This is incredibly surprising? Are you sure? Can you ask those states specifically again? I'm not convinced. Surely they'd have at least a moderate interest, like maybe, "I wonder where point Walter is? Is it good there? What are the conditions like?
You know, that sort of thing?

Salt, perhaps some more fibrous dietary intake?
Or a decent seabreeze to help with your gastrointestinal problems.

I take it Tasmania is OK with us discussing pertinent subjects

I did work about 40 hours for them about 2 years ago when they were starting. Sad to see they haven't done anything to improve their teaching in 2 years.....

On the contrary David.
KSS has done more to improve the teaching standard of kiting than you have ever even known exists.
Who gives out free trainer kites & manuals so students can learn to fly a kite before they pay you to stand there watching them trying to follow instructions.
Who gives free 2.5 hrs of theory & thorough safety training before they get to be hands on with their instructor.
Who else teaches a thorough program explaining how & why kites work rather than just telling them 'push & pull'.
Who else has designed procedures to ensure the critically important things like QR are ingrained in students everyday kiting routine rather than just telling them "here it is & you push it out". Usually only once.
Who offers free loan of an oversize board for up to a month after their lessons to help newbys through that early awkward stage when a big board really pays off on productive time on water.
Who else gives every student a comprehensive manual covering every aspect of kiting - the lesson program & beyond - for them to work through before, during and after each session. (OK - still waiting on completion & publication on this move but soon)
Who offers a free follow up session a month or so after the lessons to help the progression.
Who else has looked at the pathetically inadequate program you teach then worked at building it into a valid teaching & learning exercise rather than just an "I'll tell you what to do then send you on your way session"
Who else organises regular downwinders for students to join in on where they can be confident that conditions are right and there will be someone there to watch after them.
Plus more....

< edit the return slander ..... mum taught me never to sink to their level .... but your post, David, is extremely poor form. Totally unAustralian. Would be even if was true >

Im extremely proud of what Im doing with the Kite Instruction Program at Kite Surf SUP.

Will some of the sponsors of this site and some of the more reasonably minded people who participate in discussions on here have the sense to speak up against the bull **** racist euro **** that gets posed on here. As a world class destination for the sport do you think people coming here want to read ****e like that!!! Imagine the same thing in Mauritius, Brazil or Egypt. It is very embarrassing.
Also If local gov found out there was a buck to be made from an influx of windblown tourists there might be a bit more support from them!!!

And who else teach in gusty 15-30kn without helmet?

Your school is not the only one but seriously, how long do you think it is going to last if none of you guys do it by the rules? Your theory may be good but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be applied during the lessons.

No slandering there Phil, only saying what I saw the other day and I wasn't the only one. Seriously, what do you expect if your own staff is not doing the right thing? I am not impressed.

What gets me is the fact that they rig up at the start of the sand spit then slowly body drag and water relaunch right through the prime flat water , taking up the space of about 10 normal people and putting any one down wind of them at risk. Why not rig up down wind so you do not affect the enjoyment of others?

There are 2 Kitesurf schools with Permits at Point Walter
Elemental and Kitesurf Warehouse
All the rest are not meant to be there, we are at the far end of the beach out of everyones way with a flag that we stay downwind of.

If you see someone teaching dangerously, approach them and ask them to move downwind past the flag, you will be surprised, if you ask nicely and explain the dangers they always do move further down, its in the delivery and most do not know about the rocks.

We all need to communicate more on the beach and look out for each other, like we use to. Its a dangerous sport.

^^ well said, I think perhaps a phone call to the shop owner to inform him one of his instructors is doing the wrong thing as he may not know, would be the right thing to do, win for everyone gives the shop owner a chance to deal with any problems in-house and doesn't make you look like a slimy weasel . I would of thought most other schools would appreciate this kind of courtesy ??

Ask nicely and explain the dangers......am I missing something here, are you talking about mates teaching mates or school instructors? If its the latter I'd suggest they should know better if they don't pull their heads in school owners should sack em, simple! If its a school teaching without permits and there is an accident insurance ain't gunna pay out so kiss your life goodbye.
