Just wondering of waksa,s plans for 2017
New venue
New fresh vibe
New dates
Maybe put your local spot forward for the gig
Maybe hit them up as to what you'd like to see at the gig

I've always wondered how far would be too far to travel to an event like this is the location was perfect?

With The current employment situation in WA I am hoping it is close and cheap!

If there is anybody out there that would be willing to tackle a logistical and red tape nightmare.

Rottnest would be awesome.

Kite in any wind direction , family friendly , Pub with a great beer garden and only 30 mins from Perth.

Wouldn't be cheap but would be worth it.

Exactly
Cost of return to rottnest ?
Cost of accommodation ?
Cost to Perth if interstate?
Food?
Alcohol?
Waksa charge?
All at the upper end
Here's my view to making it an affordable
Kite stocks a wa event, and most attendants are within an hour or 2 from Perth,
So although the are some spectacular spots, this must be a primary
Dates, these must be brought forward,
Firstly as a wind option and also for manufacturers , and retailers/ shops ,
They'll be uninterested in attendance long after the release of equipment
Brand attendance, retailers distributors and brands want us to buy their equipment, it's be great to see the likes of hadlow, langree, etc attend,
Accomadation, you need a good choice, I'm happy to camp but you need other options
Conditions, you need quality wind, flat water, waves and open ocean inc beach access,
Entertainment, good tunes, or band, on the beach,
I'm a Dongara resident the home of kitestock, I've seen it fizzle out over the years, this has been IMHO to dates, cost, regulated criteria, repetitive and this includes Dongara as a location, you have to mix things up
If we have to include other watersports to make it a better gig then so be it,
North of Perth options
Coronation beach, horrocks, would make a good affordable option
South of Perth?

Absolutely no question would be a fantastic spot tom, everything ticks the boxes,
Flat water, waves open ocean, I'd be up for it but it'd be a gig from Perth or south inc accomadation on route + fuel and things already are starting to add up

Lancelin has the infrastructure, a great pub and would probably offer the greatest exposure to retailers.

Was Exmouth Expo before your time????

Scotty, Em and a few of the local crew + the Exmouth Yacht Club put it on back in 08,09.

I think you'll find WAKSA are working hard on the next one, apparently.

One of my 1st thoughts Eppo ,
But looks like kiting is now in on the ocean classic event,
Good spot though, great dwinder options, accomadation range, pub, shops, conditions and beach access

Yeah Lano would be good.

Back beach would give us enough space.

The 2 caravan parks plus other accommodation options should be enough.

2 x Great Pubs + a couple of good bakeries.

I think the local shire would support it.

Cauncy, totally agree with you.

It's all about the Stoke, wind, surf and socialize, don't need all the fan fair to have fun.

I would be keen for Lano, do a Lano to Wedge downwinder would be epic and much better than the normal KS DW.

Cheers
Rich

Unfortunately it was before my time up here, from what I hear from all an allround great event. I'd be more than happy to donate my time to help arrange any event in Exmouth for the future if WAKSA were interested.

Hi Tom,
We've met a couple of times,
Exy is to far and too isolated, I love it and return every year BUT, as Scott tried in 2009 then, 2010, for several reasons, it just doesn't work. WAKSA try hard every year and I hope will continue, the most important thing that needs to continue is everyone's opinion and then hopefully the powers that be and volunteers will continue. keep the ideas coming and enjoy the ride

IMHO: Lano is the spot for most people. Augusta is good I have kited so much down there this season, but I don't know if there is a wave near by Decent for the surf heads? It's defo family friendly and the secluded side of the river would make for a monster pill session /rave / chill out sun rise set :-) just putting in my 2cents but I will also throw in accomodation for that underoath dweeb if he decides to come over ??

The point at lano could afford some (not ideal but...) some spider monkey work as well.

I cant really think of a better location really to afford the best potential numbers (so retailers can see a potential ROI) and hopefully keep costs affordable for everyone.

Dongora would be my second.

But maybe the name should change and have it near the start of the season, before people have set their quivers up.

in the name of forward expectation of a great season, rather than right at the end, where wind can be unpredictable and everyone is winding down...to begin the two months of hellish purgatory, before the winter fronts really hit...

Family friendly and monster pill session in the same sentence?

Kitestock is like giving mouth to mouth with an already dead person...

If I was WAKSA I would try and rebrand themselves in order to move forwards.. With their declining membership numbers and lack of action at local spots Kitestock would be the least of their things to concentrate on.

12 or more years ago you would have been banned from Seabreeze for uttering such blasphemy. ^^^

They were very scary and conservative times back then.

lol.

Of course, this is before you took up kitesurfing hey.

I mean Dude could be Waksa, Man could be you...

Both as useful as a chocolate teapot and also make little sense.
