34, been kiting for over 8 years now and like some of the other guys said, I am carrying a few injuries (7 broken ribs, snapped Achilles tendon, torn medial meniscus, although only the knee was from kiting). Makes me hesitant to try anything too crazy, I love to boost and do front and back rolls though.
D
Forgot to say the old bloke is 61 and still pole dancing, he started at 52.
Also got a couple of mates who have only just started kiting this season in their 40s.
40. 3 years in.
But this thread is damn encouraging. sample set is very interesting.
This question could also be read as, "What general age are kitesurfers who respond on forums?"
Going on 63 and out there every day it is kite able
I have to justify my board fetish 5 at the mo.and loving every minute.
started at 55 am now 62...havent be out that much in the last yr but i am enjoying downwinders on a 14ft sup with the boys most of who are 10 yrs younger ...keep ripping all you over 55,s...still surfing as well....use it or lose it...
Seems like Im just a pup at 52 in a few weeks - converted from 20 yrs of windsurfing around 4 1/2 yrs ago.
Ive given up snow skiing as I got bored with that so now kite through winter (ok its a bit cold in July in Vic!)- although would like to get into snowboarding with snow kiting on my radar. Funny thing is I can see the snow whilst kiting on the lakes here in Gippsland on a clear day - how cool is that!!
66. Just took it up and I?m learning body drags.
Still windsurfing and sadly, Smithy (page 2) was one of the guys who looked after me when I was learning windsurfing.
Hey, Teabags, would I still be welcome at Gnotuk if I turned up there with a kite?

Always welcome, but you've got me stuffed putting a name or face to the posting based on the username, profile and age.....![]()

Face: ugly (think hunchback of Notre Dame). Once seen, never forgotten.
Age: (posted) 66. Age: physical, pretty good (too bad the girls and windsurf groupies don?t think so).
Giveaway: how many others still use your windsurfing name?
Hint: Used to drive a Mercedes van full of windsurf gear. Currently drive: a no-name bigger van, with more windsurfing gear in it than the Merc, plus 2 x kites and 1 x TT.
C?mon Teabags, THINK !! (You should have it by now, but they say that Parkinson?s affects memory).
PM me if necessary.

Holy crap that was my first thought but then I thought nah, there are some windsurfers you never think will see the light.....
Glad to hear you are giving it a crack, if you thought windsurfing was addictive wait until you get up and going on the kite, you will be able to sell the van and buy a mini... Come on down, walk up the beach towards my place, plenty of room away from the crowds plus a great local crew to boot.
PS. Mick's son Glen has also just discovered the kite after an absence of 10 years and is learning with his 2 sons...
