I'm considering getting an electric kite pump as my back is a bit dodgy and I'm feeling it with pumping up my kites especially my 17 and 14
Really want a good long lasting one so prepared to spend some coin
Would need to meet the following criteria
Fast
Rechargeable / portable
Reasonably sand resistant
Has any one got one they can reccomend
I've seen boat ones on eBay that meet all of the above but not sure if they take the attacrnt to insert to a cabrinah kite
Any helpful advice and jokes about being lazy / a light weight are welcome , cheers

www.kitepower.com.au/

Free shipping, in stock. The importer and partner in the brand is based here in Sydney, he has been nothing short of brilliant with warranty on these pumps. The early ones had some issues, but he replaced everyone, everytime, some even well beyond 12 months. They are extremely reliable now, as he took back every failed pump and improved and strengthened everything that failed. My own personal pump is over 2 seasons old, and would have pumped 3-400 kites now and still on the original battery. All I do is keep it charged between uses.

Hmmm if your backs that dodgy kiting might not be the best, otherwise like weight lifting there's a right way and wrong way to use the hand pump. Try the right way?
Also I island pump is quiet heavy to be lugging with the rest of your gear.

I'm getting one for sure , back isn't too bad but why chance it , I pumped up a 14 m on Sunday expecting wind to come then pumped up a 17 m , probably using bad technique but I'm 6 ft and they are quite low

I've had an Island pump for about 3 years. They are probably the best around, but don't waste your money.
They are nice for a season and then they start to develop problems. After a year or so of continually tweaking the pressure changeover switch to get it to work reliably and then finally converting it to manual switch over, it then developed problems in the flapper valves not closing. After three years of frustration I gave up. Ultimately a waste of money. Easier to just hand pump and not have all the maintenance work at home.

Ooookay, I'm sorry it's just if you had google'd electric pump or island pump seabreeze you would of seen more than half dozen forums come up over the last couple years.
I'm sooo tired of the same s... Over and over.
God it must be that time of the month again lol, hmmmm the wind better be nice this Wkend or somebody's gonna cop it.
P.s. AndyHansen I too have a dodgy back, neck and early emphysema, and have 2012 coreXR19m a 2014 epic infinity 16m a 12m fuse a 12m bandit and an 8m bandit.
I just don't see the point on wasting 250-300 on an island pump when your back would thank you more with a nice top of the range harness
Pps just make yourself one of these lol, would be cheaper

Haha, i must admit there's no getting round the fact that its just being lazy using the island. But there's no going back now!
There been days i have even pump up the 11m or 9m... after a long SH!t day at the office, rush down to the water.... and all you want to do is get kiting ASAP, not a minute longer if by any means possible... set kiter over pump and it inflate while you roll out lines and get ready.
One charge does heaps of kiters so leave out while you kite for others to pump their kites, you only really need one per group... just take turns taking it home to charge.

Gonna have to give that idea a crack man.

Well I got this older 2011 dyno 16m now and all 7 struts need pumping individually. But don't take long. Then you hit this enormous leading edge!!
To save time I bang on this simple electric cheap air mattress pumo thingy, set up my lines, then it only takes another 5o hits...that's right still 50 to go hahahaha.

Love to have something like an island pump, crank it on, set up lines, all ready eddy.

Reckon if all you fly is big kites all the time I'd go an island pump for sure. wtf not.

Or when you've been out, wind starts dropping off and you just not ready to pack it up for the day yet, theirs nothing enjoyable about the prospect of inflating a 17m or 19m after a few hours kiting... but now its as simple as shoot in quick, and by the time you packed up your last kite, the bigger one is ready

Yeh was gonna make that point. How many times have you either set up and gone damn should have put the big girl up, but are either short on time and just can't be farqed pumping up the big kite so ya make do, even in the situation you said. Then again maybe I get way too much water time and just down right spoilt... those funny winter days or weird easterlies when it's hard to pick it.

Yeh I am yet to justify buying one, but sure as hell keep thinking about it every season and don't knock anyone who has one, that's for sure.

Pumping kites sucks big wang almost enough to go and fly foils again....

...nah. Hahahahahaha

I have one of these www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-air-inflator-and-deflator-skin-only_p6210400

TBH I haven't used it to inflate a kite yet but have thought about it. $79 for the pump and extra for a battery if you don't have a one+ battery already. I use it every other day for bike tyres/car tyres/inflatable mattresses/footies/basketballs etc.

Had it a couple of years and can't fault it. Pretty sure the provided attachments would suit various kite valves. Cheaper option anyway than the Island that can be useful for other things.

Taking some interest on this subject, re launching from a vessel, 12V power, not the easiest place to manually pump a kite or 3..
On the beach manual is a good warm up. quick with the LF system...and time is not a factor.. on the water, powered i see the best option..

Off topic but have not seen any response to catching " from a vessel" on that thread, sure there has to be a WA guru with all the answers...
Any yacht people that have some idea let it flow, the vessel is a farrier 8.2M, i'm the skipper in charge of a mobile beach not the kiter..

When coming in I pull up next to the boat, land the kite on the water, detach my chicken loop and slip that over a deck cleat, then detach my leash. I either haul the kite in on its front lines or hop in the tender, go pick the kite up and deflate, once back at the boat wind in lines, very simple, quick and safe single person operation, and yes I use an electric pump, super bravo, 5 years old, 3 new batteries.

Saw this at bunnings on Sunday. There are a few issues, the side that fits on the Kite valve only uses the fan while the other side works on piston but it has a very small diameter tube... Unless you change the small diameter tube or use some sort of adaptor, it is useless.

Happy to be proven wrong, it is cheaper the the Island Pump

The price on the Islandinflatables website ($199) is for the standard model. If you click on the deluxe model it's $299 - same as Kitepower.
