When you see them coming you do one big tack and by the time you get back your up wind of most of them or they have smashed past, or just do a couple o tacks if there's heaps of crew, that's what I would do anyway, unless you can't go upwind then your better of standing on the beach waiting for them to go past lol.
Getting a bit sick of the herd coming down the line
Thinking they own it
hold your line.... HOLD IT......Wait... HOLD IT!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!
'Surf kiters' who can't go upwind 'tearing apart' the 2ft slop, need to understand that every time I'm tacking out to sea I hit a kicker and boost.
Safety in numbers just doesn't hold true when i'm 30ft above you completely out of control.
Seems to be a universal problem. If I was to take PRAWNDOG's advice I'd be forever tacking out to sea as most days it's and endless procession of short tackers mowing the lawn.

Plummet, as I see it boosting and drum lines and hooks don't go together. Not all boost in our waters.
Ignore the thumbs.
same problem up here bloody kooks from the city screwing up the beachies ![]()
I think they called it Kitestock ![]()

You're not the only one. Thanks to the f88kwit downwinder yesterday at Nth Scarborough
who bumped kites and almost tangled lines with me as I tried to retrieve my board in the white water.
Though I doubt you know how to read anyway. And to the others who were zipping through groups of people having a nice swim
near sunset. You guys are a freakin' bad joke. Eff you.

I get a bit bored of doing 10km downwinders on my own in perfect WA beachbreaks, not seeing another kite, swimmer, surfer, or anyone else for that matter, except my wife who drives me up the beach and to drop me off. It would be nice to have a few more crew, some people to hear my whooping, its all a matter of perspective, you don't know how lucky you are....
Haha twin tippers in the surf complaining about surfers in the surf something is wrong with the metro waters lol, could be all this drum line Proper-gander keeping the twin tips close to shore scared of a rouge white trawling the waters for some poor little tiger... Less boosts = less body dragging = less human lure action = less time being scared dodging surfers in the impact zone.....
I stayed at the rendezvous 2 weeks ago an I watched for a few minutes these "packs" charge through. I couldn't believe how blatantly arrogant you Perth kiters are to other beach users like families an surfers - kiting a couple meters away from them doing your little spray in 1ft slop then back stalling 5meters from the shore isn't impressing anyone.
twin tippers going hard into the wind all the way to the shore while kiters on surfboards going left and downwind through the waves. down winder crew on a pilgrimage with not a care about any one else, backpackers swimming, surfers surfing, yeeow, welcome to scarbs. I got some nice waves yesterday at scarbs, so i was happy. the twin tippers going hard into the wind sort of started to piss me off when they mow the lawn through the next peak your eyeing off.
I love doing down winders when visiting Perth. Really special. I just head out deep around the in and out spots to keep out of the way of people kiting or windsurfing from a fixed location.

That's funny - twin tippers in the surf. There is no surf in Perth, it's onshore slop!
I was always told if you twin tip you belong at Pins or on the river
Yes, Perth is flat no matter where you go
But the stretch from city to trigg is, and always will be, the down winder strip
If you don't like it, go somewhere else
Fark its not rocket science

No its not...its not rocket science.
How arrogant are you?
Shouldn't this be in the WA (whinging Australians) section.......
Bahahahahaha!!!!!
Hey twin tippers. When you get good enough you also will ride a surfboard. Just be patient and keep practising you will get there
It will end soon but it will start up again about October.
Get on board, it's the best value the Perth coast has on offer.
Could be argued down winding is the safest option for all as everyone is moving in the same direction. Bypassing the flagged beaches and busy swimming areas goes without saying.
All we need now is a Transperth service up and down the coast.

Isn't that the whole point of using a kite, if it wasn't onshore "SW" (seabreeze) slop there would be no kites out, silly twin tippers in the surf........

I love how new guys always think that cause they do it, that's the way it has always been.
Downwinders is a new thing in the numbers that now charge through.
I took 3 minutes break while the crowd came through on Monday only to see 4 guys go in the flag zone for swimmers, and one chick take one more wave , only to come off 5 meters from guys swimming and loose her board. Thankfully she didn't have to drag over them.
The clubbie was getting a sore throat from yelling on his bull horn at the DWinders going through the flags.
Down winders dont stop in the winter. Its best time to do them.No crowds!.There was a bus in the 2012/13 season.Scarborough to freo.

Downwinders in winter? Sure there are some opportunities but in winter you normally chase the storms and they are often coming more from the west. So I suppose we are talking a City Beach to Kalamunda downwinder?!?!?
