Shinnster - light wind machine.
It doesn't have to be a Shin, but I reckon true kite surfing is really a surfboard with wax, you and a kite. Thanks for sharing the vid
**** wax, it's ****ing ****. Deck pads are infinitely superior and if you think they're too heavy, then there's that textured film that's even better again.
How do you add rocker to plywood boards?
Use thinner sheets of ply epoxy them together in a press. Also use fibreglass or carbon on the outside aswell to help hold the shape. expect more springback for the thicker ply sheets that you use.
What thickness are you using per layer of ply? and how many layers? i like the set up simple and uncomplicated.

I'm not laminating ply layers together anymore. Used to do it years about making skateboards. Now its carbon, bamboo, foam, carbon/

I have a deck pad - much better than wax. Wouldn't be too hard to make a "Shinnster like" board. Flat bottom, laminates of ply glued together. Weight he nose until the glue sets and you have nose lift. 160cm long.
did you have a vac table plummet or was that someone else on xk?
not sure how accesible some of this stuff will be for moz kiter given his location but im sure he can find a low tech way around it that produces the same. createing a sculptured dug out in the driveway thats the right size and driving your scooter over it for example ive seen done to try get some pop into a board hehehehe

Because I like cunning stunts (or is that stunning cu......)I do both at the same time. Mechanical press and vac bag.
blimey plums i knew you were a bit strapped for kite $$$ this year due to ya bikes but judgeing by the half a dozen wash baskets and 50 odd shoes your stuck between an estrogen ocean and a footy team, thats the problem with all the cold weather down there to much cuddling.
anyways enough creeping whens the board going to pop? and any idea what to recommend for mozkiter for foot pads seeing as last i checked there was no clark rubber in mozambique. theres usually a market selling china stuff even in some more remote places maybe those sectioned join able foam mats?
anyone used them in a pinch? i know i can leave dumbells on them
for months at a time without them getting to compressed

That's what you get when you have a wife and 3 kids, 2 of them girls. You get lots of shoes, lots of washing and fark all money to spend on yourself!...
I am well past wtf!!!!
Just wanted to add a little report on my board. On Sunday the wind was a bit low but the kite was still flyable and responsive. I was on my DIY board and I was the first out and I was showing my brother the ropes a bit when a few other guys rocked up a bit upwind of me. I then comandeered my kite back from my brother and jumped on my board and started riding towards them. They were on surfboards. They could only head out and back then walk back upwind to where they started. And I was just riding past them and gaining upwind each tack. Was a lot of fun. When I had enough fun I headed back downwind with a few smooth moves on the way to my brother.
I am highly pleased by my creation. I managed to get some stainless steel nuts and bolts so gonna attach some straps today. Then the chop should be less of a challenge.
Kozzie.
When I was painting my last layer on my board an cold front suddenly blasted and it threw sand on the freshly laid paint. Bit of an accident but you can´t believe how good that grip is. Very evenly spread over the board. Even in chop without straps I can cruise upwind. But I was looking for something like that picture you posted. Would work pretty good I think.
Thought I'd post my first board. This is my beginner board, I've had one session on it so far, my first time out apart from a lesson. I did try to steam iron in some rocker, but it has pretty much returned to a flat shape now. It's 9mm ply. I don't have enough experience to actually appraise it's performance yet. I suppose it is a pretty big board for my 70-75kg weight.

That's pretty cool. Love the fins.
