After having a great session with mates On Sunday arvo near Iluka Nsw nth coast. My wife may have disturbed the low life's, so they only broke into Two cars by smashing a side windows and grabbing what they could Quickly.
Wallets bags bank cards spare kites in mates van.Brings you down quickly.
Mates kites 2012 BWS noise 8m and
2012 Cab Switchblade 11m only oldish kites but they worked. If anyone out there gets an offer to buy either kites by non kiters let me know.
The police were called also cancelled my bank cards to find they had already used my Visa card easy pay withdrawals $200 odd dollars.

That sucks Leigh. Keep an eye on gumtree, cash converters, etc but it's only a small chance.

Yamba has had a pretty bad youth crime wave over the past few years. Sorry to say this too late, but never ever leave valuables in a car, or park anywhere out of sight in the area.

And don't give up Leigh. A friend of mine found all his gear on gumtree 6/7 months after it was stolen.

Really sorry to hear that too. I know it's not a good idea to leave valuables in the car, but leaving them lying at the beach doesn't strike me as a much better one...

Not sure why Kami got the red thumbs, if you're going to leave valuables in sight in a car parked at the beach you might as well just leave the car unlocked so you don't have to pay for the smashed window as well.

Not quite, unfortunately.

Three side windows in Broome over the Easter. It's a sport out there, played with a brick on the main town beach. Not covered by extra rental insurance.

Could be as well as 8 windows on the Wicked van we've seen there...Tragic.

It sucks. Will pass the word around Byron. I had some grubs in vans watching me and my gear last Saturday at belongil. They didn't realise friend was in car watching them. Didn't get anything. Hopefully you can get some ID from the security cams where they used your cards. Which car park (frazers and back beach have been bad) They are all remote there, and there is no other feasible option other than someone on the beach. Ive put a tracker in my vehicle. They're cheap now about the size of a matchbox. Can hide it in your kite bag or whatever you may think they will knock off. $56 for tracker batteries and chargers. You can get a 365 day day sim from Aldi for $5. 12 cent sms after you call number pinpoints location on map.

Guys, these devises are fantastic to trace your gear if they are moved by un-authorised beings Surprised many people don't have these already.
There is a catch however. The network these run on the 2G network, is switching off at end of the year. So I will need to come up with an alternative.

One other smalllllllll point that may deter users. The SIMS cards, you have to purchase pre-paid, and this is the catch. $30 minimum charge for 6 months. You cant in your wildest dream use $30 on these. If you fail to add the next 6 months $30 worth before the times up, you loose what you had still on the card. Frustrating, but can be daunting when it adds up. Apparently in the end, if I get a new devise, I can transfer what's on current SIM card to the new card for the new devise. Can move the SIM to an actual mobile and burn it up before the shut down the network in the end. Just cant transfer to another SIM.

Bloody thieving little ...ts doing this crap to your vehicle.

Hey guys,It's a risk I know kiting places such as Frasers. Not main stream 50 mtrs to car park from beach.Local Police reckon they were into it same time last year. They set up hidden cameras which proved unsuccessful.
More success with catching them on CCT cameras at shopping centres.
Was told today same low life's are back out on the rampage after serving a short stint in jail or detention.Puts a sick feeling inside wondering whether we should continue to kite or surf our local spot. Will definitely trim down on valuables inside the car.Probs take them with us is an option and just try to keep one eye on the gear on the beach.Sometimes a bit hard when your really having a great time kiting.
It has been an issue over the years round these parts but for us fairly islolated. But mainly disappointing to know that some low life's just prey on people like us,enjoying the pristine quality of our local beaches. Will still be using our beaches but with an eerie feeling about being smashed and ripped off.Hopefully my mates kites turn up.He didn't have insurance cover.

I hope you manage to find your stuff and even the low life scum who did it. If you do, put a brick through their head for me would you. Not sure if you've already thought of or done this but a couple of crew in Vic got some stuff nicked and let all the local kite shops know. Some brain dead kcuf showed up trying to sell it.

FWIW you could try to put other non-valuable things into your kite bag and store kites separately in non-kite bags.

Extra hassle but nothing worse than being out and worrying your gear is getting pinched.

I think the only reasonable thing to do is add this stuff to your contents insurance and make sure it covers you outside of the home as well.

Unfortunately you'll never stop the low life's from trying no matter what you do.

I was told by a local on the South Coast of NSW in one particularly bad spot, to leave all the car doors unlocked, otherwise the local Aboriginals will just smash a window to have a look inside.

It's OK if you are only driving a short way and can leave all your valuable stuff at home, bit hard if you are road tripping.

Maybe get him to check his Home contents or car insurance.
Sometimes sporting goods not in use are covered. And sitting in car is "not in use"

an example I was once given was about Golf clubs.
in garage they are covered by Contents insurance. put them in Boot they are covered by Car insurance, get to Golf course and take them out of boot, they are covered by Contents insurance. pull club out to start playing Not covered at all.

Everyone should try security tinting on your cars windows. At least with this, they would need extra effort and time to break into your car.

Leigh, so sorry to read this and hear what happened to you. I am not sure of the area, but would this spot be near the famous Aussie Pipe surf spot near Ulladullah? I had my car broken into there once when I went for a surf there for the first time. I know, the cops know who did it, but no one could do anything about it. The cops said, "...The local Aboriginal tribe that lives a few hundred metres down the road were to blame, but you cannot seriously think cops will care when it's a few personal items. Had they'd stolen the car even, it would not bat an eye lid. Sad but true." Cops words, not mine.

I wasn't the only one. Three other cars were broken into as well. It's so stupid. If they want us to respect them, they should not allow their delinquents from running around like feral crims doing what ever the effen they want. Respect has to be earnt. Sorry still venting.

Hey guys,My tinted windows didn't deter them.
My bag was jammed under the front seat with my boardies covering it.Which they also grabbed, must have been the right size.
My car insurance covered my drivers extra tinted window for replacement plus retinting. They didn't have time to grab my other two drifters and other two boards in the back because my doors won't open without the electronic key which was in a secure lock on tow bar.Frasers is on the Nth coast nsw near Iluka but this sort of low life crap will keep the numbers down.As said earlier my mate didn't have insurance and had his two kites
Stolen.Plus side window smashed.
He was pissed off to say the least.

And where else would you leave your stuff? Not in the car, not on the beach, are you kiting with a backpack and kites in your armpits?

Oh, this really sucks big time! We have same problem st out local and for some reason I thought it's unique to our country...
Sorry it has happened to you and that it happens at all.
I suppose we will have to be double careful traveling in a rented van with all our possessions inside, not feeling too good about it...

I think it's all about your location.. I've never had a problem in Adelaide kiting n windsurfing. I've been in Brisbane for 11 years
and never had a problem here and on the sunnycoast! You're
more likely to have problems with car breakins here in town
where the grubs live n hang out for they're next hit...And I don't bother locking my car!

If youve hidden your stuff under seats then here's not more you can do, without patrolling the car park. Really frustrating eh! I know how you feel...

Thanks Kami and crew,
Two Road authority guys dropped by yesterday with my Wallet Thanks fellas, found on the side of road near Shark Bay Area.Less money and Visa card still had licence,Medicare and a few others they didn't want.Still haven't got any sign of mates two used kites 2012 BWS 8m
2012 switchblade mainly yellow black green.
Police said yesterday got better CCT video of the two low life's going into Coles at the same time my visa pay swip was used.
Should nail them soon with any luck.
Police said will Question them but unlikely to get much out of them being previous offenders.
They must have thought the kites were backpacks with valuables not just kites.Anyway the police are onto them it's only a matter of time.Just got to track em down.

Some good news there Leigh.

If I had valuables in car a lot I'd strongly consider a good dash cam system. $800 installed will get you almost 360 degrees recording with automatic parking mode Inc bump and motion sensors. Also good for hit & runs or other accidents..
