I have an idea Laurie.
How about a Buyer's Price Guide?
Certainly a lot of kooks here need to be educated and considering the low Aussie dollar now, things can only get more expensive. But so what!?
Not to you Laurie, but to everyone else...
HOW MUCH ARE YOU PREPARED TO PAY!?
That is the question really.
If you really don't have $1000, but more like $300 then DO NOT hassle and start conversations with people that are selling gear well above what you can afford.
Simples.
Don't want to talk someone down on price just need a
reply
Seabreeze is an awesome space for buyers & sellers. BUT sellers have to understand that used kit is only chased by $ driven buyers. AND there's heaps of it because any Kiter wanting to get the best of every session knows that only new really delivers. (not so much for boards but certainly kites).
Tip: if you want a bargain that isn't "just cheap" limit your search to "hardly used" or shops clearing superseded new or demo items.
Kites are flogged out - in real quality flying terms - even after one season of enthusiastic use.
PS if I may? My apologies to many I've let down over winter. Been difficult my end but I've got lots of ex shop stock to clear at crazy prices thru Seabreeze and I'm back in Perth 24/7 now.

What my problem to a point is I need to see what I am buying that's why I am looking more local, and a two year old or shelf stock would be great but my beef is people don't reply, anyway hope the winds up tomorrow for my twelve
I'm new to the forums here, but have bought and inquired about a few items. I'm not sure if i overlooked it, but couldn't see any info on "Listing date" of an item. Its ok when searching through "recent" items, but when using a more detailed search i couldn't spot anyway to see how old the listing was. Also, if sellers could easily mark a listing as "sold" would save them lots of wasted time with people contacting about items no longer available, and save buyers time as well. I know old ads might get removed, but a quick "sold" indicator would work wonders in my opinion. I had quick replies when sms/phoning, and no replies when using the "contact seller" email system. I assumed the sellers didn't get my requests via the form, and chose to contact them again via sms, then got quick replies.
I recently sold my Kite on Seabreeze had no hassles. I sent the kite out ASAP from VIC to WA and the new owner seemed pretty happy.
Did have 2 guys offer me $1000 for a $1500 kite. I told one of them sorry mate too low he responded with a tyraid and some abuse.
I will never put kite gear on Gumtree people are allways low balling.
I had a couple of surfboards on there and the guy turned up with $100 bucks less than he agreed to.
He said that it looked different to what was in the photos. I said thats OK mate I will ring the next guy and let him take them. He quickly pulled out the extra cash.
My concern has been with some sellers taking their time to send advertised stuff to me ASAP. This is even when I have paid them quickly. I wont name anyone but people should not say its "ON THE TRUCK" when it aint.

not very obvious but you can find some info like when user was last online and how many views it has had in faint grey small text at the bottom of the ad
if you put the ad into your favourites then you can see the listing date and when it was last updated, and if it got sold /removed it is listed at the bottom of your favourites for two weeks.
that answer your query?

then they wonder why you don't respond to their texts emails

With you on this one highzakite!!!!!
Seems the way of the world that tightarses feel free to roam the market making stupid; disrespectful; scabby offers.
I usually - as politely as I can - say "no thanks". But sometimes I just hang up. One time I did that I got a call back "with a tyraid and some abuse" based on "how dare I hang up on him". ????? Reminded him that he was wasting his credit contacting me.
Can foreigners use the platform too? I managed to sell one last year, and posted it from Malaysia with no issue. Also bought a couple, and sellers were OK with posting them to Malaysia. Postage to Malaysia was abit high tho..![]()
bought many more when I was in aus ![]()

Yes and No. Some countries are banned as all they do is spam. I guess with our dollar being so low, there may be more OS interest.
All foreign listings are checked as best we can. For example, Indo is famous for ordering lots of stuff from the shop using false credit cards ,and yet there are often Aussies in Indo with nothing to do, and put stuff up for sale in readiness for when they return to Aus! These we let through.
When dealing with some sellers you may get a warning they are overseas, and again, this may be because they're travelling or using a work internet thing which goes through another country (go figure).
As usual, when buying online, there is an element of risk, and you need to assess that before sending your funds. People are afraid of talking on the phone these days, but it still works as a pretty good way to assess a seller. ![]()
You can do Cash on delivery, that helps people send things faster as well as reducing your chance of getting burnt
Laurie do yourself a favour Have a look at twin tips for sale for example three year old boards for say $500 good buy why are adds still up and have over 1000 views and persons not contactable to me it sounds like no longer available but ads still up not saying seabreeze buy and sell no good I think it's a great site but sick of wasting time, Internet ,looking for something that should have been removed maybe all ads should be dumped automatically after 2 months so only people with something to sell will bother to put it back up just a thought, bet the pages will be fewer, apart from that love the forum cheers
Hmm, after some thought I think a 2 month life for each ad would be good. It would:
Encourage sellers to put a realistic price on gear,
Reduce the ads with titles like WAM NUGGET WHIP that sellers intend to use for several items into the future or put up to get more search hits,
And, ensure ads are up-to-date.
If you can't sell it in two months, your price is too high. I pay for ads now and then (more often a seller than a buyer on here) and I'd be happy to work to a 2 month time limit.
