Hey guys I'm an intermediate kiteboarder, bit of wake style unhooked stuff, freestyle, free ride and a little bit of waves

I am coming from a 2013 10m North Vegas, really liked it but I want to go something more all round, better wind range etc

I think North Evo is the best option from my research, as it seems to be able to do everything! Does anyone know when the 2016 model is released?

Also what other kites in all brands compete with this model?

Can't beat the best ts. I'm going from best gp to the ts, for more range and a little more forgiving when hitting rails and kickers. I'm have the 15m ts at the moment and I was completely blown away at how good it was for freestyle. Was super easy to pass the bar.
Declan came second at nationals this year on the ts.

Give the Slingshot RPM a try. Extremely well built kite. Simple bar and lines design that's proven.
Slingshot crew are getting around Victoria ATM if you are lucky enough to get some wind.

Pivot! Although most brands seem pretty sick these days.

I can't image unhooking with a pivot.

Seems like you are after a bridled C kite.
So you should get a true 5 line C kite

Cal,

If you want something that unhooks well too then the Evo isn't the best option. One of our customers took one on one of our overseas trips and it had way too much unhooked pull. It was an absolute nightmare for doing freestyle on. I think that's more the Dice's forte but I'm not sure. The best unhooked all around kites I've tried are the RPM, Envy, FX, and GTS3. The first two are better if you're into wakestyle a bit more than waves and the second two are much faster so will excel for wave riding and kite looping. These kites all will unhook very very well and still offer you enough freeride and wave performance.

Cheers

Awesome guys thanks for all the replies! I was also trying to go a kite that had quite good wind range as I want to try and just go one 10m! My 2013 north Vegas 10m got me out in 17-pretty much 30 sort of thing so I would definitely not want to go backwards in wind range, and a bigger wind range would be a bonus

but if you wanna stick with North than the Dice is probably your best bet...try both and pick what you like more.

Wainman Smoke (9m) is a good all round kite - fast turning, good wind range, good hang time, good drift, good anything (don't know about unhooked though - not there yet)

+1 for the lf envy, I switched up my quiver of 2014 north evo's for 2015 Lf envy's at the end of last year and there is no comparison the envy is better in every way. If you want a great all rounder envy or rpm I reckon.

So good that slingshot have the option to go the above bar depower. That's what annoyed me most about my fuel.

All you fellow kiters who look for your perfect kite, don't be influenced by those who claim to know the best, discount the kite because they don’t like the brand, or graphics, or the person who recommended it. All I am saying is that I tried several kites and I am impressed with Wainman Smoke – it really suits me at my level. If you have a chance to try one, I think it is worth to try it – you might like it as much as I liked it. Now, all you ‘red thumb people’ go for it, ‘Express Yourself’

North Dice

Okay then, if he is coming from the 2013 Vegas, then he should try the north dice 2015/2016. Red thumb away.... But that makes perfect sense to me.

rpm would also be on my list and the FX. Oh and the core gst.

hi sorry bit confused about the red thumbs for the dice was looking on the north site and when you enter freestyle, wake and wave comes up with evo no 1 choice and dice second is it because the dice doesnt have a better range than the vegas? Seems to be marketed at all rounder

Calshave did you end up getting a new kite if so what was it and how did it go?

Kemp, ive tried the new bar with above the bar depower... its not terrible but id still rather below the bar.
The swivel at the chicken loop makes it hard to hook back in straight sometimes.

I like simplicity.

The only dice I have used were 2014, and they were terrible. They did this thing where the wing tips would fold in when you pop. And there was no pop. But this was 2 models ago now, I'm sure they have changed since then.

New Ozone Enduro, or even C4 V6 which will have 5 line freestyle setup and bridles for freeride and allround, C4 will come with both when you buy it.
Enduro takes up where the current 2015 Cat finished, probably the best all rounder 3 strut kite Ozone ever made and I'm expecting the Enduro to continue the legacy. Both will be in shops within 6-7 weeks, C4 first, then Enduro....
