You're right. His math is wrong. It's much more than twice the price for the other kites.

Zeeko Notus Air 12m from 3 Inlets, $1980
Switch Helium 3 12m, $952

Sorry to offend but the Storm by my calculations comes in just under $1300 with freight and bag, which is about same as Helium3 with bag and tracked freight after import duties and gst.
Clouds and Notus Air(which comes with bag and 8m extension lines) are about same but for cloud you have to get it from a US delivery point.

Feel free to show me how that math is wrong.

I just checked the Switch website,
Switch 12m H3 is $952.00 AU (free delivery) - no GST as it's under $1000 & it now comes in an all new design bag.

What was it that you are trying selling again Ral ?

Topple over I'm merely trying to point out that certain rash statements about pricing would carry more cred if backed by fact.
The Switch website clearly shows that you have to add the bag (+$71)as an option.
and yes there is free delivery, but if you want Tracking ( Which every sane Kiter paying out nearly a G would want) then that tracking number adds 175ish dollars, more for Air freight.
that sends it over the tax limit so duty of 5% has to be added then Gst on the total including the duty.

So $952 + 71= 1023
1023 + 185(Air freight) = 1208
+ 5% import duty = 1268
+ 10% GST = $1395
roughly
you can add your own bank or PayPal fees to this.

the same workings for Storm Voyager 12m
has it at your door around 1560aud
and it is a true one strut design.

No strut kites for Hydrofoiling is now a proven design and adding a single strut is to aid relaunch.
Their main benefit is in the 8-12m area, I believe, where with HF you are getting into winds that need light weight kites. Also fast turning kites to compensate for using longer lines.
winds above say 15kts then any kite will relaunch and stay in air so use your 3strut kites.
if you need to use a Single/No strut kite over 12m then you are well into the drop it swim in territory.

Ok, I see how you came to $1395 but I'd also like to point out that all Switch kites come with a bag. There is an option to buy a better bag with more features if you would like but the bag that is included is ok for me.

I just use the free delivery option & have not had any problems, you still get a tracking number from Switch & it's pretty quick.

So, $952 is what I would pay for a 12m H3 delivered - sure if you want other options, it's going to cost extra $

This is fact & clearly stated on the Switch website.

If you ask nicely some OS companies will raise a seperate invoice for the shipping, helps when the item is borderline on limit. BTW you still may have to pay the import duties if the goods were not manufactured in a country where we have a treaty. This includes USA, as many kites are made in China you may still get stung for the 5% duty. If this pushes you over the 1k limit GST may then apply. All this can depend on the individual at Customs.

All that said, personally I still try and buy locally and support our own shops.

I've never had a problem with the free shipping with Switch (usually takes less than a week) - if it doesn't come for some reason they'd send you a replacement I'm sure as the free shipping is tracked. You'd be silly to add the 71 dollar bag bringing you above the $1000 import threshold for the 12m. If you really wanted to have the bag (I could squeeze my 18m and 10m in the same bag) you'd be better off ordering one with a smaller less expensive kite to keep free shipping and be under $1000. Or if you really want the bag with one kite you could order the bag in a separate order that might take a bit longer and cost $26 so ~$100 on top of the $952 or $1050 so still price competitive at about half.

Personally I got an insane deal on my Cloud D_0 kites so I'm good but I think the Heliums look like they could be a solid budget option.

Not yet, my 12 metre arrived the other day but I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Hoping it does the job for some real light wind foiling and light wind wave riding (Indo etc)

I have been on a 10m for the last few months. I am up and foiling as long as I can get a 10+ knot gust. It starts to get too big in 20 knots. It's a nice wave kite too. I might get a 12m if it proves to be as stable in very light winds and not too draggy when on the foil.

I finally got the chance to spend a bit of time flying the H3 both in super light conditions on a foil board and in some decent waves on a surfboard recently.
Totally impressed, it stayed in the sky and was still fairly easy to fly one handed whilst getting going on a strapless foil board in some real lulls, relaunch was also great.

Then in waves, I was even more pleased, it drifted so well and responded like a much smaller kite to inputs on the bar.
I finally felt comfortable coming down the face of some overhead waves in the fairly light wind on a 12.
I should put some video together but for now here is a couple of frame grabs.

Had a chance to fly the Helium 3 12m in marginal 10-14kts .On a 155cm jshapes Board and Cruzer Foil 70cm mast.
Just enough Kite to get my100kgs up on the Foil.
For a 12m it turns like a smaller kite.
Being in a narrow channel of the river first run foiled to far into a lull near far bank, dropped the kite on toeside turn.
Ok not much wind but the Helium 12m rolled then gradually relaunched steadily . Great relaunch.
Nice steady speed through turns.Depowers well.Very comfortable lightwind Foil Kite.Stays in the air in bugger all wind.
Thats it will try a 10m next .
