Hi Guys
I am really interested in moving forward and building a home from possibly 2 or 3 sea containers.
I live in Perth so would need a supplier from the local area.
I was recommended to this mob who do sea containers called [name and link removed by moderator]

Im a fan! Some great ideas.
An old sailing mate may be doing one down in Tassie!
(and yes I know it was a spam post!)
Like many 'green' ideas, it had advantages and disadvantages.
Ignoring the OP's lack of forum etiquette, I'm currently in the midst of a container design for a client using 15 (!!!) high cube containers - including 3 being used for the garage.
I've completed a few design briefs using containers and as a 'pre-fab' construction technique for a pre-concieved design that is designed specifically for using containers, or a dwelling in a remote area, they are great. Otherwise the design limitations can be economically void and aesthetically challenging.
Getting planning and engineering would be difficult, unless your blocks close to the docks
you might think you'd save money but as a builder carpenter I can see massive additional costs , especially in added labour compared to a normal construction process
^^^ its a perfect model for getting them outfitted in China first, including furniture before shipping. But it's still a bloody ugly sea container no matter what you do with it, as the saying goes you can't polish a turd.

Unfortunately, I've personally witnessed the big grins on peoples faces telling you how much money they saved, then when you tell them the electrical , water, and glass arnt up to regs their expression soon changes, seaspray caravan park in Dongara brought a heap of units in , only to have equipment taken out, with some of the new energy ratings, you'll have to provide a cavity to allow for it in a container, or just ignore the new regs like most project builders do

But you can roll it in sugar. ![]()

then sugar away.
there is a new one down the road from me, must be at least 15 containers. Looks absolutely terrible.
Here's a couple of sugar coated turds that look pretty good.
Good oven, or good greenhouse?
There was a pic of one with a green roof where I got those ones from, that might suit WA's heat. Add a verandah to shade the walls, no worries. I suppose you could also insulate somehow.
Those two pics look liveable to me. I like looking outside the box with housing. Earth-covered for example.
