Some of the best weapons that they have are of U.S. origin, that was left behind and given over to the Iraqi army (such as it is/was), when the U.S. left, prematurely IMO.

Much of the violence in the middle east is tribal in nature and the tribes are aligned along religious sects. ISIS is sunni fundamentalist but not tribal as they are more of a melting pot of sunni loons brought together from the conflict in Syria. Unfortunately these Christians are in the way, they should be moved somewhere safe, I would rather have these people brought into the US as refugees instead of a bunch of muzzies. In the case of Syria they tried the colour revolution/false flag (Hariri) route, which failed worse than the Iranian "Green" revolution. Then they made a deal with the Saudi's to counter Iranian influence in Iraq and Syria and have over land supply route.
The Saudi's couldn't use the Saudi military, so they bankrolled the recruitment campaign around the entire world... using some BS story about Bashar being xyz, and they're defending Islam, blah blah.
The Zionist supported this recruitment and gave it favourable media attention.
Some in England got concerned bcos lots of Muslim brits were going there, but they were reassured that it was effectively exporting their "Internal extremist threat", so they gave it even more media attention.
Syria started getting flooded with idiots, who generally got wasted, but they also did a lot of damage.
Saudi's/Qatar's ($), and Zionist supported them... escalation after escalation, Assad started getting screwed, the Russians stepped in, the US stood up and then mercenaries massed on the Jordanian border when the US assured them they'd offer air support.
