Such drastic measures being taken around the world for something that most people think is nothing.
'The flu is worse'
'We were all gonna die from Sars, Ebola, Swine flu, terrorism, Nuclear war, yadda yadda yadda...this is just the same FFS'

The question is, if this is a big nothing burger, why are we seeing unprecedented action being taken around the world to try and contain this Pandemic?
The truth is, this is nothing like we've seen before in modern history, the spread is global and still expanding.
China has locked down millions of people, and started the drastic measures when supposedly only 60 people had died in China.
Italy has shut down schools and Universities country wide.

Why is all this drastic action being taken by governments globally if this is all just media hype with no substance? None of these actions were taken for SARS or Swine Flu etc

spanish flu had the same death rate and is estimated to have killed up to 100 million when the population was only 1.9billion. i think coronovirus is more contageous?

Hey MUN, Spanish Flu ended up killing 2-3% of total cases with the health care available being nowhere near as good as the modern world. Currently the COVID-19 outbreak is killing 6% of the cases with an outcome (ie live or die outcome; and not total cases; as not all cases have an outcome yet) and modern health care is very good. Whilst it's not a certain death sentence, the numbers don't lie (except maybe if they come from a closed country), it's a not a nice virus. All numbers from unverified internet sources

And it turned out not to be true. Same as this one is not going to kill us all either.

This also isn't true. The ship was allowed to continue on.

Mate, I am not down playing the virus and I have been re-evaluating my Bali trip (although anything is still possible in the next 6 weeks). But I am curious to what your sources are other than MSM and Social Media that has got you so worked up over this (genuine question and not a crack).

The only thing I'm worked up about is the nonchalance and ignorance I see people display over this virus and what it's potential is; potential that it seems to be fulfilling.

As I said in my first post here, if it wasn't really serious, China (especially) wouldn't have shut everything down the way they have.
They know it's bad, most probably cause their terrible quality control let it escape the lab it was made in.

There's plenty of information on studies into this virus available online which seem to be confirming the worst fears about this virus.
The studies that;
- showed the live food market wasn't the source of the virus (the first 14 or so infected had no link to the markets)
- the analysis of the virus' make up that showed mutations that were impossible to have happened in such a short time of it being around, we're talking thousands of years evolution in a short time - if they weren't already in the virus to begin with leading researches to lean twards this being a manufactured virus
- the fact that the level 4 biolab was involved in working on research combining human coronaviruses, horseshoe bat viruses and HIV components

The fact that China had the SARS virus escape the Beijing lab multiple times back when they were studying it there.
Then there's the fact that the virus causes permanent lung damage and most likely to other organs as well.
The fact that recovered people are reinfected after being cleared and declared recovered.

There's so much info out there that is being ignored by the MSM, they choose instead to focus on people buying out toilet paper.
And all the 'just a flu' people who generally admit they don't know anything about it, but scoff at it anyway even brushing off the fact that it is way worse than the flu in confirmed kill rate and contagiousness.

So yeah, I don't have my knickers in a twist, I'm just aware of the threat and amazed at, with the global response, how many people are not even bothered to even keep themselves aware of the potential impact it can have on them. Living with Normalcy Bias.

Actually the death rate is 3 percent and mostly older people. No children have died. You know 240,000 people died of the flu last year in the US alone, why no panic then?

Yep, the flu kills a lot of people. It has a death rate of 0.1%.

The Wuhan Flu has a death rate of 3.4%, but is most likely higher than this given the WHO's propensity to play down things from the start of this. At the least, it is 34 time more deadly than the flu.
It also can be spread for up to a month by people with no symptoms.
It also has been shown to have secondary and tertiary reinfections after you get over the first one, each subsequent reinfection has the potential to be more severe than the last.
It also leaves you with permanent lung damage if you get a more serious infection but still 'recover'.

You tell us why you think China and other countries are taking the measure they are.

If your 3% is of total diagnosed cases then it does not reflect the final reality of the percentage of deaths because a large proportion of the diagnosed cases have not had an outcome (death or survival) yet

It's not my 3%, it's the WHO's 3.4%.
Why leave off the 0.4%? Not significant? Then I guess the 0.1% the flu kills is insignificant as well.
Actually, that IS what a lot of you are saying.

If you want to get into ifs and buts, realise that the WHO has downplayed the thing from the start, most likely from pressure from China who is one of their biggest financiers. They are only starting to confirm the severity now.
Given that and the pretty much certainty that the official figures released from China are BS, not to mention the secondary reinfections of 'recovered' people, then the 3.4% is certain to be higher.

Looks like existing president or even candidates in US have the greatest chance of all ( to die)
odds are 1 to 5
But there is a catch- transfusion of young blood from convalescent may save you, so next biggest scary will be "vampires" agents hunting for young blood. looks like we may have now all the worst Sci-fi scenarios coming true.

They have been making viruses pretty much the same as what has come out of China.
One of the authors in the study is (was?) from the Wuhan Institute of Virology...

Have a look at this nice report: www.nature.com/articles/nm.3985

Ahem...Construction of SARS-like chimeric viruses.

And this one... archive.is/F04r7

"Whereas the SL-CoV spike protein was unable to use any of the three ACE2 molecules as its receptor, and the SARS-CoV spike protein failed to center cells expressing the bat ACE2, the chimeric spike protein the study created did gain its ability to center cells via human ACE..."

apparently the toilet rolls are being sent to china instead of the supermarket, and china's prepared to pay more for it than we are. that was the cause of the initial shortage and then word got out that there will be a shortage

this is first hand insider-info from someone who uses toilet paper

Sars, Mers are just other forms of the Corona virus. We have been living with those for years. I remember the media beat up over Sars, the Y2k scare, catching aids of dinner plates and cutlery, etc, etc.
Yes the old and the weak may unfortunately die, but the same people catching a whole multitude of diseases stand a higher chance of passing.

Good news.... In a few weeks when the fook-tards are slowly wading through their mountainous stockpile of dunny paper and the paper is still being produced 24/7, there will be an oversupply. DISCOUNTED DUNNY PAPER at the super market just to get rid of it......
We will see who is laughing then

It's actually three. Derrr, stay awake.
And that's only the 'official numbers'.
Next week it'll be 15.
Check in and let us know, if you're awake.

Edit: and that's not incuding the miner at Christmas Creek and the undefined numbers at Sino Iron Ore.

SARS and MERS killed around 800 each. COVID-19 has killed 3500 and the infection outside of China is doubling every 4 days. It doesn't take a maths genius to realise this is not the same as SARS or MERS.

Share market at all time high. Not much to be made there. Virus breaks out in China from eating bat soup. Rich dude sells his shares. uses his connections in the media and government to panic the sheep. Share market crashes, buy up big. Double your money.

If the WHO states CFR is now 3.4 % after telling all news corps it was around 1% last months , then they must have seen some gnarly stuff china or suspect gnarly under-reporting CFR in china by CCP - as they would be opting on the cautious end of scare mongering (ie seen more like 6%+ , then report optimistic 3.4%) - I think early days HUbei prov death rate was maybe up in the 8-10% range .... It seems now covid19 has mutated into 2 strains - the more prevalent one circulating is less severe maybe , and the china lockdown has curtailed the nasty strain more (ie way less prevalent worldwide ) ... Here's the problem - the lesser strain / mild cases is lulling alot of people into a false sense of security ... (oh its just the flu type crap attitude - even tho a 3.4% death rate is upto 40x higher than flu ) .... if you get the bad strain - or god forbid - you get BOTH , like a US male or a patient male in OZ - YES OZ - at mo - then that is going to be 'not mild' .... these medcrams are great sources ...

That new cruise ship - grand princess - where they had a case , unloaded 2500 people - and now just loaded on 2500 people for a new cruise (someone in that new loaded 2500 will have it ) - this is the sort of stupid frkn unbelievable **** that is going to spread it beyond belief .. mind you - maybe people safer taking a cruise than being US mainland where it will EXPLODE next weeks through no testing and no containment strategies (see case same genome detected in 1st case to 6 weeks later case - and circulating the whole time undetected !)

Question:
Has anyone else wondered why we haven't heard from any of the thousands of people who have recovered?

I haven't seen any media interviews, or heard any personal accounts from people online that have recovered from the Wuhan Flu.
You would think that hearing a first hand account of how 'mild' the virus can be would go a long way towards easing public uncertainty and concern.

Yet nothing out of all the thousands that have supposedly recovered.

Does anyone have any sources?
