What are the worst purchases you have ever made. 'Fess up. We may learn something. Some of mine

Hi-Fi VCR recorder g-code $1200 new. Sold in garage sale $10
First supposedly mini mobile phone (more like a brick) $2400. Sold for $45
Landrover Freelander.........absolute lemon
Had a mate sell his boat recently. He only used it 7 times and lost $35,000 when he sold it. he reckons about $7,000 per trip average with fuel, docking and servicing

Fisher and Paykel dishdrawer... Most useless unreliable piece of crap appliance ever invented. Went through 3 of them plus 2 motherboards before I remodelled the kitchen to fit a normal one in.

RACQ vehicle inspection. Convinced me I was wrong about suspension and clutch faults. Bought the otherwise fine vehicle. 2000 km from home clutch starts screaming on each take off and ABS activating each time brakes applied. Within a month $5000 spent on replacements RACQ inspector spent half an hour convincing me wernt needed.

By asking this I can deduce that you've never owned a Jeep.
If you had, you would know.

An Audi 100 GL 5E. It had a 2.2l 5 cyl non electronic fuel injected engine that chewed more juice than my V8 Fairmont GXL.

I dropped $6,000 cold when I sold it.

A huge bloody plasma TV about 10 years ago or so. The thing cost me $6500 and I had to put it on a payment plan that took forever to get rid of. Put it on the verge last year - noticed the power bill wind back a bit too, seemed to suck a bit of juice.
The TV I replaced it with cost $800, weighs about 500kg less, is bigger, has internet and you can talk to it. Lot changed in 10 years.

My worst buy.....by proxy

Last Tuesday I sent the Sandwichmaker [who I love dearly] to get rid of the crappy supercats that were on the front of her car.

Even though they had well over half their tread left they have proved hopeless in the wet, losing traction at the slightest hint of moisture.

Told the Sandwichmaker [who I love dearly] to get a pair of Sumitomo's to replace them as the pair of Sumi's on the car had proven to be waaaaaay better.

Came home to find my dearly beloved Sandwichmaker had gone to the wrong tyre shop in Balcatta - and had replaced the old dodgy supercraps with new dodgy supercraps

So, any seabreezers out there that want a pair of 185/60r14 supercats, that have a grand total of 18km of use on them - they are yours for a $50 donation to RFDS.

Alternatively - if you are a perpetually broke student [aren't they all?] show us your student ID and the tyres are all yours.

sn,

Off topic I know, but I can't help but feel a tad envious of your relationship.

Look after your Sandwichmaker, and hopefully she will be with you "till death do you part". Not all of us have the same good fortune.

Sorry, your heart was on your sleeve, and I noticed.

All the best to you both.

Good work kite boy

Yep that's my baby !!

Rang hotline spoke to some guy in the Philippines who said they'd get back to me

What could possibly go wrong?

Also advised that if I noticed smoke or fire coming from the machine to turn it off at the wall.[:)

Yup....me too!
Bought a Series 1 Discovery in 1992. Everything went wrong from day 1. Bits fell off, broke down or didn't work. Went through a stage when I couldn't even turn the engine off. Was about to trade it and found out that they had brought out the next Series $10k cheaper. Always good to know that you've lost $10k overnight!
Japanese for me!!!
