If you are not needing to crack the ball over the boundary line surely a female cricketer with exquisite skill and timing could play this role?
Bowling...nah, too many physical differences there (unless they were one in a million - out of this world skill wise), but batting...why not?

Why would any of them need to come out of the closet?
The sport is defined by guys tackling other guys to the ground and rolling around with them. They're already out.
The only thing gayer than the sport are the men spectators who use it as an excuse to voyeur dudes tackling other dudes to the ground and rolling around together.
That and UFC.
Not that there is anything wrong with that if that's what you're into.
