I don't know much about Russia and Ukraine.
But i do know not to trust the Media and government.
Here are some memes.![]()

There we go you can say it all in other people's memes without saying anything at all.
I guess its easier to just agree with memes.
It's all about land and the resources under it. Always has been always will. Don't get distracted by the political and social spin. It's as old as time itself.
and whose land and resources will these poor civilian Ukrainians lose their lives to "protect" the so called national sovereignty?
whatever elite oligarchs have the control now.
russia comes in and a new set take their place except for those that see the wood for the trees and cleverly manoeuvre themselves.
this to is as old as time itself.
and the needle returns to the start of the song whilst we light up Instagram.
It will be interesting to see how NATO plans on re-stocking Ukrainian forces with more weapons and supplies, this sounds like an ideal target for the Russians now it's been announced to the world!
There's that basic error. Just because a bunch of people said it online, does not make it true. Acting on mRNA is NOT gene therapy. RNA is not DNA.
And its not experimental, there was an assumption its new but it has been used in a number of (safely tested) vaccines since 1994.
Now be against it, no worries, but you're not dumb so don't repeat the bad science of others just as it prevalent on yoochoob.
It will be interesting to see how NATO plans on re-stocking Ukrainian forces with more weapons and supplies, this sounds like an ideal target for the Russians now it's been announced to the world!
Yes but whilst the supply routes will be obvious, an attack on NATO assets then gives them the excuse to shoot back at Russians.
Aussie pub version would be "c'mon mate, you wanna have a crack..?"
I think its a bit deliberate
They only took chernobyl as the contamination there leads itself to dirty bomb production by a citizen resistance or desperate (losing) military later on. Its a simple tactical move I dunno why the media are making so much of it.
I'm not seeing many of the hairy smelly types from the COVID protests, the whale protests, the forest protests etc ......? Whole bunch of Ukrainian ex-pats protested in australia, a nice mum n dad gathering.
I mean, the cops arrested a bloke in Perth for not wearing a mask at his business and there was 10,000 frothing comments on FB and protests and vitriolic comments abut nazi police etc etc - within hours.
Not seeing the same crew protesting this immense violent action? Oh thats right, communism is something to aim for, isn't it hairy lefties...?
I think your comments on communism WRT Russia are outdated by 30 years at least.
Is there anywhere in this world today that has communism?
Yeah, Russia is as far from communism as can be.
Russia is hyper capitalist. It is ruled by money and power. Namely the oligarchs.
Dead right on Chernobyl.

Yeah, if people think Russia is corrupt, wait until they understand Ukraine.

Same corridor used by escaping civilians. Can,t bomb them without hurting innocent people! Ingenioueus. And who is the smartest here. All needed is another video camera documenting atrocities.
I came across some translations of Chinese Media (plus social) on the Ukraine crisis.
It's interesting to see perhaps third point-of-view, what they are saying about the US, Europe, and of course Taiwan. ScoMo gets a mention in there, too.

I think in Australian media Stan Grant does an outstanding job of being a journalist, and being completely removed from any opinion; objective journalism.

He's been writing mostly about Ukraine recently, and goes into much more detail than you'll see in the usual rags.
@Tequila: first Ukraine jokes I've found funny. Bravo.

"Socialism is, broadly speaking, a political and economic system in which property and the means of production are owned in common, typically controlled by the state or government."
Fair to say, the Russian government and its mates control most of the countries assets.

Not being on social media, its interesting to see how many people show me memes that are obliquely or directly pro-Russian. Looking from outside it seems a similar arc to the US election. Things like Cobra's post above (complete with grammatical errors) are not just funny comments produced by non-partisan players, they are part of a sophisticated strategy that uses offensive cyber very effectively to spread their message both internally and externally. Saw a similar message to the one above comparing US army to Russian army, complete with Russian subtitles.
Have a look at what is running through your feeds. How much of it is either sending a message of 'its ok', or 'dont **** with Russia'. For what is a flat-out invasion of a sovereign country, does your social media reflect that narrative?
A good semi-related article:
www.technologyreview.com/2022/02/25/1046495/how-to-share-information-russia-ukraine-invasion/
"The Ukrainian crisis has nothing to do with Ukraine. It's about Germany and, in particular, a pipeline that connects Germany to Russia called Nord Stream 2. Washington (USA) sees the pipeline as a threat to its primacy in Europe and has tried to sabotage the project at every turn. Even so, Nord Stream has pushed ahead and is now fully-operational and ready-to-go. Once German regulators provide the final certification, the gas deliveries will begin. German homeowners and businesses will have a reliable source of clean and inexpensive energy while Russia will see a significant boost to their gas revenues. It's a win-win situation for both parties. The US Foreign Policy establishment is not happy about these developments. They don't want Germany to become more dependent on Russian gas because commerce builds trust and trust leads to the expansion of trade. As relations grow warmer, more trade barriers are lifted, regulations are eased, travel and tourism increase, and a new security architecture evolves. In a world where Germany and Russia are friends and trading partners, there is no need for US military bases, no need for expensive US-made weapons and missile systems, and no need for NATO. There's also no need to transact energy deals in US Dollars or to stockpile US Treasuries to balance accounts. Transactions between business partners can be conducted in their own currencies which is bound to precipitate a sharp decline in the value of the dollar and a dramatic shift in economic power. This is why the Biden administration opposes Nord Stream. It's not just a pipeline, it's a window into the future; a future in which Europe and Asia are drawn closer together into a massive free trade zone that increases their mutual power and prosperity while leaving the US on the outside looking in. Warmer relations between Germany and Russia signal an end to the "unipolar" world order the US has overseen for the last 75 years. A German-Russo alliance threatens to hasten the decline of the Superpower that is presently inching closer to the abyss. This is why Washington is determined to do everything it can to sabotage Nord Stream and keep Germany within its orbit. It's a matter of survival. That's where Ukraine comes into the picture. Ukraine is Washington's 'weapon of choice' for torpedoing Nord Stream and putting a wedge between Germany and Russia. The strategy is taken from page one of the US Foreign Policy Handbook under the rubric: Divide and Rule. Washington needs to create the perception that Russia poses a security threat to Europe. That's the goal. They need to show that Putin is a bloodthirsty aggressor with a hair-trigger temper who cannot be trusted. To that end, the media has been given the assignment of reiterating over and over again, "Russia is planning to invade Ukraine." What's left unsaid is that Russia has not invaded any country since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and that the US has invaded or toppled regimes in more than 50 countries in the same period of time, and that the US maintains over 800 military bases in countries around the world. None of this is reported by the media, instead the focus is on "evil Putin" who has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border threatening to plunge all of Europe into another bloody war. All of the hysterical war propaganda is created with the intention of manufacturing a crisis that can be used to isolate, demonize and, ultimately, splinter Russia into smaller units. The real target, however, is not Russia, but Germany. Check out this excerpt from an article by Michael Hudson at The Unz Review: "The only way left for U.S. diplomats to block European purchases is to goad Russia into a military response and then claim that avenging this response outweighs any purely national economic interest. As hawkish Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, explained in a State Department press briefing on January 27: "If Russia invades Ukraine one way or another Nord Stream 2 will not move forward."
There it is in black and white. The Biden team wants to "goad Russia into a military response" in order to sabotage NordStream. That implies there will be some kind of provocation designed to induce Putin to send his troops across the border to defend the ethnic Russians in the eastern part of the country. If Putin takes the bait, the response would be swift and harsh. The media will excoriate the action as a threat to all of Europe while leaders around the world will denounce Putin as the "new Hitler". This is Washington's strategy in a nutshell, and the whole production is being orchestrated with one goal in mind; to make it politically impossible for the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to wave NordStream through the final approval process. www.unz DOT com/mwhitney/the-crisis-in-ukraine-is-not-about-ukraine-its-about-germany/

Nope, not Germany , China. After freezing all Russian assets , consuming 800 bln saved by starving for years Russian times comes to 4 trillions that USA owe to China on 20 years long running deficit. Easy like that. Freeze now Chinese bank, disconnect from SWIFT, block Chinese sea and wait to see those two crumbling. Bear and Tiger. Or panda bear?
Smart Biden kill two ducks with one stone.
Actually 3 ducks because Europe will suffocate equally cut of energy and resources. Europe the only real counterweight to imperial ambitions.
Ukrainian people ? Collateral damage. Cost of doing business, as usual.
As to Germany , I wish Merkel could delay her retirements plans and all those problems could be avoided in first place. By now gas could flowing by NS2, Europe kept warm and happy, Ukraine making tractors ready for grain harvest. Russian preparing their football team to crush Poles on green field.
I wonder whose coast the Russian subs are sitting off?
I was wondering how many US subs are sat at the bottom of the Black Sea.
Wonder if they can get in there. Presumably Turkey wouldn't be too happy about letting them through the Istanbul canal, but maybe they can hide under container ships and sneak in or something ?
Maybe they don't need to and can sit in the Aegean or eastern Med and do whatever they need to do ?
I wonder whose coast the Russian subs are sitting off?
Nuclear armed Russian subs?
if all those sanctions and Javelins doesn't work
those definitely crush Russians souls and hearts

We should join boycott and forbid our cricket and La crose team to play against Russians..
