Yep me too, an ex girlfriend used to do it, I thought she was mad but tried them and now every time I chop up broccoli I slice and eat the stalk raw.

funny i used to work in fuit an veg and a few customers used to whinge about paying for the brocolli stalks. so youre not the first sandfoot. Caught a few snapping them off and then I'd make them pay for the whole lot. tightarses, good for a laugh

ahh haha sorry buddy i wouldn't be wasting my time defending mr coles and woolworths supermarket giants 15c per brocolli stalk. No, I used to work in a little fruit and veg stall in a market, if we didnt turn a profit I'd lose my job! which i did, after a year or two. So don't be a tightarse, pay for your fkn brocolli and eat it too 
cut the dry edges of the stalks off. dice em up into little sticks and fry them up in a stir fry like carrots, they're the best bit, you'll be looking for the brocolli bunch with the longest stalk in no time!
