Same IMAX
kiss Sydney Showgrounds.
I was probably 13 at the time also .
It was unforgettable with most of the crowd having there faces painted .
Ted Murray Gang, South Hedland oval about 1979, as I recall the stage was a couple of 40' trailersMurray Mulry ![]()
crowded trousers at Festival Hall.
Then Violent Femmes most time they came out.
Envious to have seen Dire Straights, Bob Marley or now even the Stones.
I think Mick down his best work already.
I'm waiting for someone to admit Tina Arena or John Farnham...
Would have been Kiss at 13 but oldies put a stop to that so it ended up Midnight Oil at 14. Apollo stadium Adelaide.
Led Zeppelin at Sydney Showground 1972
then couple months later Rolling Stones at Randwick Racecourse ![]()
Icehouse with Sharon Oneill opening. That was the day I found out she was a solo artist, not Sharon and Eel as my 8 year old mind had always imagined. Truly gutted. Icehouse was good though.
Singer Iva Davies was a windsurfer I believe.
Kiss , 1980 , I was 13
Ditto
I saw them them in Melbourne, same tour.
I was also 13
Funny thing is, My Father had dragged me along to a Kamahl concert in our home town just a week prior.
My memory is getting a bit vague now, but I'm pretty sure Kiss put on a better stage show.![]()
This thread is making me feel so young, and I'm a grandpa. Most of you were attending concerts before I was born. My first taste of live music was the electric hippies at the silver sands, not really a concert. Then it was Jebediah, hoodoo gurus and screaming jets at new years circa '96.
Front row 1974 Status Quo , my ears are still ringing
Saw them in 69, Northeast UK. Loud and fast.
London Philharmonic Orchestra - Colston Hall, Bristol
Seems I am the only one here with any culture ?
Not quite from the age of six I been to the Perth Philharmonic Orchestra, Not to mention numerous Churchlands Orchestra recilties
Or shows like Cats, Starlight Express, Phantom and Miss Saigon in the West End through out the 80's
I just didn't see that they where relevant to this Thread
Jimmy and the Boys with Sharon O'Neil at the Florida Hotel, Terrgal. 1980 ( Now a Peppers resort ) Otherwise then known as the 'Filthy Flo'
I just didn't see that they where relevant to this Thread
They probably aren't. Thread was about first concert.
A show like Cats or Starlight Express isn't a concert. It's a show.
A recital isn't a concert either. A recital is generally considered to be a single performer. A concert is more than one performer performing in 'concert' with other performers.
Just sayin'.
so what was the LAST concert you saw live???/
I cant even remember.
Would have liked to see Rockwiz at the Espy.

WASO playing Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major is still a concert.
Still a group of musicians performing.
Thread doesn't say "First rock concert I ever went to was..."

Lots of solo artists have concerts. So when Bob Dylan performs, solo, on stage, is it wrong for the event to be advertised as "Bob Dylan Live in Concert"?
Where is your proof that it's not a concert?
Just askin.
Suzi Quatro, 1974 Showgrounds in Adelaide, security provided for free by local chapter of the Hells Angels apparently, or was that just media hype of the day.
Not the first concert, but in hindsight, the best. Adelaide University Orientation Ball, 1981. Midnight Oil, INXS, Hunters and Collectors, there were others but not able to recall, maybe Cold Chisel.
Most surprising experience Tina Turner in dozy Adelaide just in from playing 80K audiences in Brazil - maybe 800-1200 v.judicious audience (got free tickets = 30%+ of the audience) - Incredibly professional - by the end of a g8 evening To a person dancing encore shouts - she just performed... Think just post Mad Max era
The rankest ear ringer was Judas Priest - skeleton shakers better description - the ears - meeh no-chance..
Quo would have been way better experience..
elbows said..
Front row 1974 Status Quo , my ears are still ringing

Wow
You with think that after the 1969 Altamont Music Festival, no one would hire the Hells Angels for security at a concert.
Metallica, Mot?rhead, iron maiden, anthrax and megadeth all in one day.
not a bad way to start seeing live music
