You are that insignificant that even the error in just counting votes would be a lot more than 1 vote
I always thought that it was good that in Australia you had to vote.
But you don't.
I realised that when my son just had to enrol.
You only have to vote if you have enrolled.
The enrolment should be automatic when you turn 18 if they want to force people to give their vote.
And maybe you could ask to be out for personal reason.
Just like organ donation, should be automatic (when you are dead!).
dont we have that here already?
the dead are pretty quick to vote in our elections ![]()

And I love asking at the polling place if they want to see my id.
They look at me blank and don't know why.
I love asking the person how do they know who I am ?
Australia is so trusting for some things.
You only have to vote if you have enrolled.
It is compulsory by law for all eligible Australian citizens to enrol and vote in federal elections....Is just difficult to find you to send you the fine if you don't enrol.
No raindrop sees themselves as responsible for the flood but they all are.
Will the flood still come with one less raindrop?
Clive Palmer won his seat of Fairfax at the last election by .03% or 53 votes
Just a few more people voting could have stopped the fat Bas....d!

i met some of his staff from his resort. he pulled out about 5 front house/kitchen staff to sit in the vote counting room and made them all say some **** like "i contest that vote" once this is said the vote is put in a seperate pile and must be recounted.
the idea of this is if theres 2 ticks in one box or a smudged line or some **** that would mean the vote shouldnt count. instead its just used as a trick so that every one of his votes is counted and everyone of his opponents has to be recounted again and again and again and after ahwhile the votes themselves can become damaged or smudged etc so that they actually dont get counted
they werent paid any extra for doing this just there standard wage theyd get for mowing grass/serveing drinks/changeing sheets
and here i was thinking i knew some secret white collared **** cause one the places i happened to be staying in at the time had a cleaner who had to do this.
honestly what a joke. no wonder i have such a disdain for organisations and committees
It is not compulsory to vote ,
It is only compulsory to go and get your name crossed off the roll .
Nobody makes you fill in the ballot paper
If you choose not to vote
Just walk out .
Ozzies really ones ,'now define that ? Gotta get more religious when voting and filling out senses / the sloppies the burkers the indian head thing the fken crew in the orange gear etc / cast a religious vote and push there fked up religious agenda which oz government and councils use to give approvals to building justify there planing and the outting of a neutral free religious /society and australia is left with crew with crazy beliefs views and built up power base to push there way of living buuurzzzirk
I'm surprised that as an educated person in a western country that anyone wouldn't value the opportunity enough to want to vote.
If the choice is between candidates you hate and it comes to putting the candidate you dislike the least first, does it matter how educated you are? As people become more educated on representative democracy they learn how it isn't very democratic, they are less inclined to vote, unless of course they have a particular barrow to push that coincides with what the Libs or Lab say they will do but tend not to do once the election is over. We always hear about how the ancient Greeks invented democracy and we proudly carry on their legacy. If an ancient Greek saw what passes for democracy in Australia they would at best call it mob rule where the leader of the biggest mob tells everyone else what to do.
Actually the Greeks never voted for their representatives ...2 of the 3 levels of government were drawn by lottery, this was to remove power and wealth from the equation.
The other form of government was available to all Athenians (male, and mainly those who did not have work for a living) was a majority vote of those who attended.

No they did not vote for a representative, this is a British idea from a time when the fastest form of communication was a man on horseback. An ancient Athenian citizen was expected to participate in the decision making process. Contrast this to the Australian system where we outsource decision making to party apararchtiks, lawyers, union bosses and so forth who tell us how amazing they are and what incredible work they do with our money. All the time telling us we have this incredible power with our vote to decide what will happen, when at best we have the choice between tweetle dumb or tweetle dumber.
