I don't think all the great whites should be killed off.
Just reducing them to the numbers that were around in the 1950s will do.
So how many is an acceptable number
If people don't believe science please feel free to educate us to how many is a "Safe" acceptable population..![]()

Should we also limit the number if surfers to the same number as the 1950's..
It could be a lottery system, turn and hope your aloud to surf..
They might work for sharks but what about the other marine species .could be potentially harmful to Dolfins etc the list goes on. Great idea but...
The bait is a dolphin. Should attract only sharks.

Sounds good. Let's start with the shark-huggers.
Could make it a twofer deal by putting them on the drum lines as bait.
When Crocs attack they cull
Too many Kangaroos they cull
Rabbits and foxes we bait
Bloody and bone fertilizer is made from fish
Enjoy your steak or chicken tonight for dinner ,
BUT knock a few White sharks on the head and you clowns start sooking.![]()
It can't hurt to march on the big house. Keeps the problem in the public eye. Hopefully new ides come from the discussions and we find a resolution or two
The WA capes region is the most Western point of Australia
Since when? Has Australia moved lately and some of us arent aware of it?
It's funny you know, the real western most point of Australia is loaded with massive tiger sharks, there are thousands of them with plenty of water users and yet very few attacks?
The southern most point of WA (in West Cape Howe) also has plenty of 3 and 4m tigers that dont seem to cause too many problems either. Not sure why either...
Great whites as a rule dont swim that far north, let alone my point is they turn and hug the capes.. Tiger sharks and Great Whites are a little different when it comes to attacks. Not sure if your aware, but not so many tIgers attack in WA..
Maybe in your head they don't swim that far north jbs. But back in the real world I can personally vouch for them as far north as Shark Bay and know of reports in Rowley Shoals and Dampier. Plenty of sightings around Geraldton, the Abroholos Islands and Kalbarri. Don't forget the fatal attacks at Wedge Point and the Abrohlos.
Every time this issue comes up you're here making up your own "facts".
I think the import question is, How are the sharks going to get to Parliament house? Public transport sucks
I would love to be there but can't. Can somebody please take an effigy of me along in my stead? A life-sized Terminator cut-out from a video rental store will suffice.
BTW, any mungbean bludgers intent on showing up, by all means look respectable for the cameras. ie, leave the kaftans and scraggly goaties at home. All I need is to hear my colleagues decrying the safety, and bitching about footing the cost to protect a lifestyle that they can't understand.
And whats your life experience??? A bit of time windsurfing badly has given you all the insight you need.... Like a few loose nickels in a pocket.....chump
My point AGIAN stop taking information you read on line as an education. Go do some research, ring and talk to the people involved..
Not much point me explaining..
Lol sounds like your crackpot theory on why the sw can't have receivers is too embarrassing to air even on sb eh?
If you know something relevant why not tell us instead of playing games?
can anyone tell us if the whale carcass's have been removed from Hamelin bay and just south of cape naturaliste? someone told they are still there

^this.
you forgot over fishing. leaves the sharks hungry too.

Agrred
not a cull
a tag and release systematic approach to it
can anyone tell us if the whale carcass's have been removed from Hamelin bay and just south of cape naturaliste? someone told they are still there
All whales were removed inland and buried
NOT BURIED ON THE BEACH
TODAY 9 MAY
ITS A RALLY TO INTRODUCE A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO REDUCE A POTENTIAL SHARK ATTACK
SDLs TAG RELEASE MONITOR
"The New South Wales Government has spent $8.5 million for a small trial of SMART drumlines in NSW. The NSW Government has not committed to funds beyond the trial."The McGowan Government has always said it would watch the drumline trials in NSW and await a thorough scientific assessment of their effectiveness in making beaches safer."It is worth noting that despite the extensive use of drumlines and nets on the east coast, there have been about double the number of shark attacks in the last five years compared to shark attack numbers in WA."This includes an attack in February at Kiama Beach and a shark interaction just the other week at Lennox Point, both NSW beaches which are part of the NSW drumlines trial."Liberal members have previously called for the deployment of SMART drumlines off beaches where attacks have occurred, Surf Live Saving WA patrolled beaches and additional beaches following consultation with coastal councils."Using figures provided by the department, to install drumlines at these locations and surf breaks it would cost an estimated $50 to $75 million per year."Without a scientific assessment, it would not be appropriate for me as a Minister at this time to commit to these drumlines."As I have always said, as a State Government we will continue to look at any new measures backed by thorough scientific evidence."
Nonsense. Rarely is this the case for recreational activity. It's usually related to residential threats.
They're not a protected species nor are they apex predators.
Rabbits and foxes are introduced pests. Naturally.
Not sure what this has to do with the price of flake but sure, throw it in for good measure.
The real sooks are people who can't accept some personal responsibility when entering the ocean.
Using Maths as a solution over science could be a solution, Kull one shark = -1 shark, kull more is a multiplication of X more dead sharks.
Less sharks will have % reduction of dead people.
Scientifically it could be argued using a math based kull system would reduce birth rate and reduce population.

"Given our coastline and increasing shark issue make us especially suited to explore solutions in shark safety management, we're not interested in being proactive and doing anything for ourselves or our people.
In fact we straight out refuse to create any sort of environment to drive innovation which would benefit our residents and visitors with greater peace of mind and safety, boost our economy by the increase in tourist numbers that would flow on from the increase of safety and have financial flow on benefits to the economy by potentially having locally driven solutions that could be sold world wide.
Nope, we'll just sit back with a p*sspoor excuse and attitude and wait for others elsewhere to find solutions"
Hey, it's all good, this is WA, it'll all be solved, we just need to Wait Awhile.
2 things i learnt at the rally yesterday.
1. It's the ministry for fisheries AND innovation. They must have some bloody good Chinese walls going on then.
2. Dave Kelly fisheries minister is a totally underwhelming waste of oxygen. The gist of his plan it to blame the Barnett govt for "not doing enough" say what?
In a private meeting he actually couldn't understand why surfers werent taking up the shark shield designed for divers. Clearly all over the issues this one.
Well done to those that went but buckle up this govt needs to be booted for any real change.

how many sharks turned up at the rally ?
Are you talking about politicians, Or sea creatures?

No wonder he is out of his depth as Fisheries Minister (pun intended) ![]()
