That sounds like a real adventure. Below is my GS (red one)

The only issue with it, is both India and China don't allow people to transport vehicles... so one needs to go through Nepal>Tibet with a company and return the bikes.
So in reality it's an organized tour with Royal Enfields.

Fly Aus > Delhi > (Fly or Ride) Kathmandu > Everest base camp > Lhasa

Still fun... want to come? Aug/Sep 2015.

First up, I badly wanted a GPZ900 in the late 80's. A very nice piece of machinery in the day

Like you, I could write a book on defensive riding. I put it down to 1/3rd reading the surroundings, a 1/3rd rider training, a 1/3 personal aptitude, and the remainder ****teenth % having no control over. Humans in vehicles - completely predictable in my opinion. I feel safer riding a bike in town than a car. Roos, deers & spooked horses (all of these I have missed, or hit - and kept it upright) and are far less predictable... but this risk is exactly the same as a car. I heard a story from NSW about a roo going though a driver's windscreen and then disembowelling him
