Yes, this is science. Learning what works and what doesn't work. I thought you had seen this before as you had mentioned fasting.
Its been ages since I have seen this, and he seems to have a few programs on the same topic, but does he really say 500 to 600 calories every second day? I thought the idea was once or twice a week had the same effect?
Yeah hes morphed it to 800 calories 2 days a week. Look up the fast 800. Principles still same but less restrictive. Works well
I have seen a couple of his vids and I think the idea is good. I guess it works along the lines of giving your body a chance to have a spell and do a bit of self cleaning. I know that when I don't eat for a day my farts get pretty rank. ![]()
Been doing 16/8 for 18 months works for me. Very sustainable change in diet with positive outcomes. Less fat on the belly and I feel really good.
Been doing it since it first came out, so years and years. I was healthy weight but high cholesterol, so strict fats management BUT on the fasting I can eat whatever within reason I'm still the same weight but much lower cholesterol . Visiting family now and getting tired of explaining it! Same explanation every year year after year. The other reason I'm happy on it is the cancer fighting and cell repair that takes place. The only "diet" I've ever done. Common sense really.

It is common sense.
Surprising how few people realise though that they're eating themselves into an early grave.
That link Japie has too many big words to understand and is way beyond my comprehension anyway.
Not sure what the 16/8 means but I suspect you cut your calories in half every second day.
For the last week I've not started to eat till four hours after I wake up and no eating three hours before bed.
So seven hours added to time in bed say 16 hours a day I fast.
Ive lost perhaps one and a half kilos but my waist measurement at its thickest just above the waist has only dropped half an inch to 35.5 inches. Average male American is 40.2 inches and the women are around 38 inches.
Need to do lots of sit-ups to stretch the roll of blubber. Losing weight only helps it a bit.
Goin to try the 500-600 calorie thing every second day starting tomorrow for around a fortnight.
I am concerned a lack of calories in the long run will see my body eat into muscle if it's energy reserves run dry?

Been doing fasting for years. Its Easy skip lunch or breakfast.
Peeps freak that you skip meals as if you will go into diabetic shock while they talk about smoothies

Takes a lot of work to build muscle...the body doesnt eat muscle if it gets a little peckish
It's brilliant. Been doing it for 15 years. You get to eat whatever you want (most of the time) and maintain your weight. I save the fasting days for when I have a lot of work to do in the yard or the office. It's amazing how productive you can be when you don't stop for meals, and when your real busy on getting something done it's less effort and will power to avoid eating. Win-win.
Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference if I eat fast or slow. I still put on weight.
Sorry to hear about your health problems. Maybe consult a doctor

sorry to burst your bubble, but you can't lose weight from a specific area, however where your body decides to store fat is quite individual. That's why the waist circumference is used as a guide. if you are dropping circumference from your waist, it will indicate that you are dropping fat. Fat doesn't turn into muscle, and muscle doesn't turn into fat. Muscle can get stronger and weaker through exercise loading, but not change it's physiology.
Awesome information but we do live in a foodie culture which is pushed on us 24/7 by the tv.
Every third show is connected to food.
Stop eating 3 hours before bedtime and don't eat till at least 4 hours after awaking.
And every alternate day restrict calories by half to say 1000.
5:2 wrked 4 me helped repair process on knee meniscus .. no more knee brace.. read hs book if interested in the science
trouble in the longer term was unwanted weight loss.
Since have learnt alot more about balance of fats/protiens/carbs Use of MCTs (lipids) Bdy energy circuits at cellular level.. avidingi insulin spikes ketogensis etc.. facinating...
just starting another round 5 :2 with 16:8 routine to help speed up tendon tear have bust collar bone..
A leading question of cancer research in well budgtted institutions ..so O/S
are the majority of cancers using fermentation as their primary energy source = damaged mitochondria.??
. can we exploit this to turn the tables??? keto diet and a pulse based therapy.. the goal better survival rates with a higher quality of life.. current system ... radiation theraphy yukkk especially on the brain...not going 2 be my choice should that fate get me...
cheers AP![]()
This fasting thing has been a bit of an epiphany for me.
When I read a few weeks ago it can help to cure injuries and disease it spiked my interest more.
As I understand it - when you fast before bedtime and after awakening your body has gone without food for say 16 hours. Your body has used up its glucose levels and is now burning fat for fuel. It makes sense.
Fasting is not a diet more when to eat.
Breakfast is breaking the fast and is probably the meal you want to avoid the most followed by super.
If you can't manage four hours of not eating after getting up and before bedtime try three hours. It's actually not that hard.
Ive noticed in the month or so I've been on it my appetite has diminished a lot especially for eating large meals!

could do that but faarrrk still need my coffee, would that be allowed?
Yeh the morning latte Fcks me. Gotta learn to drink black coffee. I do the 16 hour fast most nights but wreck it with the damn coffee.
We've done the the 5/2 before, it works. The blood work Mosley did whilst investigating this fasting idea was fairly comprehensive and enlightening. The weight loss is just a by product really. His risk factor for the big three big killers reduced markedly after his fasting effort. He's settled on a 800 on the fasting days. Gotta be easier than the 600.
but yeh the science and the evidence on this new way of eating Makes sense really.
The 600 or 800 calorie alternate day fasting is harder than fasting for 16 to 18 hours each day for me anyway.
The documentary from Russia I posted earlier in this thread many of the patients were on a long fast of a week or more.
I guess this results in a deeper cleanse.
It will be interesting to read the results in the future for those who have started these various fasting plans.
It's a mystery to me. A TV doctor comes along with a new way to lose a bit of weight and backs it up with some cholesterol tests and PM33 goes overboard with enthusiasm for it.
Meantime, we've had vaccinations starting off with smallpox back in the early 1800s, moving on to TB, mumps measles rubella etc. Even a new flu shot every year. All of them backed up by mountains of evidence, but PM33 hates them.![]()
On a side note, ain't it kind of puzzling that the biggest concentrations of anti vaxxers are in the NSW northern rivers area? I'll bet pounds to peanuts that the same people are fully signed up to anthropogenic climate change science.

You've done it now! Up until now PM33 thought it was a special documentary that the iluminati stopped from being shown on TV and it was only leaked onto Youtube.

Funny. THis is beyond your comprehension but accepting the dodgy logic behind a flat earth is easy. Man what a mind. ![]()
peter
the 5:2 operates on 2fronts.. mosely followed r&d then tested on himself. core interet 2 avoid premture death hs father suffered. the rest is history he became its champion.
the key benefit biochemically is stimulating the bodies natural and effective rpair mechanism.
the repair processis largely heavily dialled down in a hi protein environment.
so in evolution terms when foo d readily vailble build new. 2dy this is always..= supermarket
life expectancy hugely different once human started farming & has kept growing ..
by 30 need alot more repair than build new.
5:2 drops protein levels when followed over 4+ week period this allws the repair mechanism to kick in .. which is g8 really fantastic not to be ignored..
to triggr repair faster u could do 1 or 2 weeks keto then a 7 day water only fast. realistically that does not resonate with many people.. it is spcialist territory..
weight loss imo is in largely dueto shrinking stomach.. so 2 days fast = shrink 5 dys go for your life. a few weeks in it takes effort to want to finish a maccers burger and chips..
hopefully iit goes without saying sugar soda driks are out..
get well ![]()
