I don't quite get the thinking. Isn't it just a matter of time before delta rips through the rest of Australia like it has everywhere else in the world?

He's obviously done a great job in 2020 and 2021...... that's unlikely to last. We have a decade at least, to go.

Victorians said the same of Dan Andrew at the end of lockdown 2 last year.

4 lockdowns later, Victorians are not so sympathetic.

I don't envy any leader, but some are doing it better than others.

I wouldn't want to. Odds are good that there'll be a surge in the NE of the US during winter...

Well theres a couple of reasons why i don't think that'll ever be the case.

1. Marky Mark is the lockdown king.

2. we have distance and a limited number of roads into WA on our side. Border closures are much easier to manage for us than for the eastern states. We also have a couple of other states managing things well between us and the Gladys covid nightmare.

I do feel for the banana benders, victorians and Danny boy. He messed up a bit first time round, but he came to his senses. This time round i think its got more to do with proximity to covid town and how many roads in there are between the three states.

edit: i also feel for the people in NSW who are doing their best. No sympathy at all for Gladys and her merry band of muppets though.

Because if McClown has his way the border will still be closed even with 80% vaccinated so if you leave, you won't get back in. Going to be a locals only NYE.

The People's Republic of WA is failing in the vaccination race. This will bite them in their Augusta.

Sadly you can see that people start to think about getting vaccination once there is an outbreak. Just like NSW and Vic, although having a supply of the vaccines is a good starting point... yay Scott Morrison.

These power hungry premiers are going to have a decision to make once we hit 80% vax rate - do they abandon their Covid elimination strategy delusions or do they accept we have to live with this.
I believe the people will ultimately decide, similar to what has happened in the UK and other countries that wanted/needed to get on with their lives. Peoples livelihoods can't continue to be held to ransom by these overpaid pollies.

Hey Robbo, man I feel for you guys over there. I was saying to a mate the other day who was critical of people's behavior and I reminded him that people must be at their limits now.
I'm lucky that my job will always get paid but originally i was a tradie, which would have meant no work, no pay,... I would have been lucky to last three weeks.
If I was looking at loosing everything I'm not sure I would have been so we'll behaved, seriously, hats off. But everything has a breaking pont and it appears they will keep you locked until something bdoes break. A real rock and a hard place right now for many. I was originally all for the lockdown from a medical perspective but coming up to a couple of months with no end in sight,.. man I don't know what to say.

We can send you a couple of covid positive cases to walk around Perth for a few days if you like,
then watch the mass increase of people wanting the jab once covid is in your area.

Well f*** me. Seems I was wrong all along. Sydney isn't in lockdown at all. One of my kids was telling me that her friend's family is in isolation because someone came into her father's nursery last week and later tested positive for COVID. Why is a nursery open and why are people going there? How can it possibly be essential to be buying plants for your garden? If this is what is going on, then there's much less than zero chance of stopping the spread. Why are we even bothering to try?

Nah, don't get too cocky. When lockdowns are on 'hardware stores' of the Big Green Shed kind are still open. Clearly as they are needed for tradespeople and emergency supplies.

The first lockdown here I remember seeing people in Bunnings chatting with each other in the aisles, looking like they engineered it to meetup when we weren't supposed to.

I am sure there will be people going to hardware store nurseries when there is a lockdown... "I urgently needed a new bottlebrush plant"...

Last lockdown here I was coming back from my vaccination and stopped at the Bunnings on the way for work materials I needed. It had quite a few people browsing in it.

NSW needs to restrict what becomes 'essential' as I doubt some people see it correctly.

Why are you talking to your kids ? Supposed to be in lockdown. People like you got us into this mess.

I sent mine to their rooms boxes and told them not to come out until they hear the jingling of Christmas bells. If they want to communicate they can push handwritten notes out through the air gap hole.

It amazing everyone is complaining about the lockdown not being strict enough, because Bunnings is open, but do you know how many people contracted it at a Bunnings or a nursery? I don't, but Health NSW would, and they make the decisions. It's fair to expect there is a full time team working on this will marginally more experience than a couple of grumpy kiters and windsurfers. I reckon they'd be just a tad better at making the decisions better than you guys.

I wonder how many of the ones complaining that Bunnings is open, only know its open cause they have been there 3 times this week,
with their dog in their trolley, drinking a latte whilst buying their essential fly swatter.

Never ceases to amaze me that supermarkets are not and have never been super-spreader sites. Neither are the couriers who deliver Amazon and Uber Eats. Miraculous even.
