Get real Chris, apparently the BOM are in on the conspiracy to destroy "western civilisation" and jack up energy prices through pollution cuts!

Damnit, you're right. And of course, Harry sitting in inner Melbourne is a complete expert on the drought situation across the country 'cause he's a wizard 'n all that, and since his latte is full to the brim it's obvious that dams inland must be full to the brim, too.

Some of people working there are climate alarmists and hate capitalism too.

Did you think you were on you own?

It was BOM that claimed no rain for 6 months... which, at the time, meant April or May.

Fortunately, BOM was wrong.

No, you're wrong, not the BoM. Their outlooks for last year can still be seen on the web, and they did NOT claim there would be no rain until April or May.

The 10 October outlook said "The drier outlook for southern and northeastern Australia continues into December with the remainder of the country having roughly equal chances of being wetter or drier than average."

17 October they said "the outlooks for drier than average conditions ease in the coming months" and gave NSW a 50% chance of having higher than average rain.

24 October they said "only parts of Queensland, SA and other small scattered areas likely to be drier". They said similar things in November. Through much of that time, their predictive maps showed about 50/50 chance of more than normal rain in SE Australia quite a bit through October and November, and more rain in other areas.

So don't pretend that the BoM got it wrong - they did not.

No, you're wrong.

Thank goodness for the rain, the solar panels have worked and we have successfully stopped climate change, brought the rain and stopped the oceans from rising any further, just like a fairytale ending in a movie

I'm a bit worried with this rain and cloudy weather. I've fenced in an area on my farm with a solar powered electric fence. If it stays cloudy for too long I think the battery in the energiser will run flat.

Got to make trip up to Maclean to empty my tender out. Hoping my oars haven't floated away!

Yep, it's raining up here on the fire ground and the fire is still burning in parts. Not too much work today as the tracks are too slippery Send me another 200mm over this month and I'll be stoked

Oh wow. Seriously, is that the best you can come up with? You can't even pretend to have a decent answer?

Didn't feel the need to try to pee any higher than that... apologies if the lack of fight wasn't what you were looking for... you could try your local late night lamb sandwich shop at give or take 3 am...

I don't want a fight - it's just that you lied, and lying to insult people is a ****ty thing to do.

I am quite sure if you use google, you will find exactly what I posted... from highly credible sources such as Murdoch owned newspapers.

The dams that are filling up and overflowing are actually only the small ones in the SE Qld catchment

www.seqwater.com.au/dam-levels

We'll agree that Tim Flannery jumped the gun when all the big almost empty dams that capture the water that flows on the western side of the Great Divide are full to overflowing. An east coast low won't do it.

It looks like weather patterns are changing. If so we can hopefully look forward to fairly regular rainfall that will reinvigorate the land and refill the waterways. This rain is exactly what is needed. It's a pity this rain did not happen three months ago.

Its great to see plants growing instead of dying. Creeks and rivers are flowing. Dams are filling. The rain is heavy and quite widespread. If the keeps falling regularly for a few months the country will be renewed.

First to spring to life is Lantana . Now is everywhere growing like crazy.
Nothing works. All of my 4 tested herbicides seems to be like vitamin shower for them. Can we have Corona for Lantana , please? The only hope is with our Universities Laboratories to develop viral infection to fight ever growing problem for Australia.

Lantana 600 was the best but they don't make it any more.

Grazon works well and doesn't kill the grass. 350ml pot does 100 litres. Use some surfactant with it and have 48 hours without rain after applying for best results.

Grazon or brush off, that works on black berry & lantana. mix nice & strong.
gloves & a mask if you are spraying it around, don't need that if pouring it around.

Thanks . I will try this Lantana 600.
Looks like my nearest shop still have some.
Choice tremendous, prices too.
So far I am just wasting my time walking , spraying , only to see that none of those nasties die out.

Seedlings? Or stems left on the ground that have put out roots since the rain?

In Perth they cultivate lantana in suburban gardens! I've seen ground asparagus in hanging baskets! Mother of millions clipped into nice neat low hedges! I'm tempted to attack the Madeira vine being cultivated on the tennis court fence.

I prefer using diesel and electricity to eradicate lantana. It's an ongoing effort but immensely satisfying.

Its going to keep raining. This is excellent though hopefully we will get more moderate and steady rainfall. Today we were out in NW outskirts of Sydney to look at a tractor. The fellow selling it showed us two dams. Both were empty last month. Today while not full, they are getting there.

^^ Hey whippy, pro-coal people will tell you that "we've suffered mega-fires like this years regularly....like every decade or so and the widespread smoke pollution is quite common."

"Nothing unprecedented here."

"Nothing new."

"Vote LNP or One Nation." *

* I understand pro-coal people require quotation marks to lend validity to their illogical statements.

Lantana bushes may greatly contribute to your field of bushfires.
I think i may need more attention.
Looks I am loosing a battle, Green stock is increasing exponentially reagardgess of my effort. Even If I have time to spray each clump, there are millions of them everywhere. Then only 1 in 100 is likely to die after soaking in my herbicides. There is also lack of machinery to deal with Lantana in AUstralia.
I found planty cheap attachment available in USA but none have dealers here and can't see smiliar products in Australia.

Really? You got some rain? Good stuff! I hope you were ready to catch it all with some tanks?

I think Moby was talking about this stuff months ago, and I guess it goes to show that if you are prepared you can capture as much as you have capacity for.

How would the nut trees fare in such a river of water?
