Lets imagine what this hundreds of billions of dollar now flowing to Australia means for poorest African countries ! While they will capture all our iron ore business !!

Well, that's not a bad thing. China will get that ore in 10 years, which means that they are not expecting to start a war and will expect that the rest of the world will still want their stuff at the time. Good news! No war! more stuff!

Maybe good maybe bad news. Now we will be asked to send our troops, submarines and other warships, fighter planes to Africa to fight for African tribes freedom and human rights. In few years from now you will be fed everyday news about Africans forced to work and maybe even educate, since they have been enjoying trouble free life for centuries.

Ironically the fact that our most innovative ,expensive electric vehicles are running on free child Labour in Africa is not really our concern. But adults Ugurus send to schools forcibly are.

Yep, our best option to restore our future will be now bombing the infrastructure Chinese are going to build in Africa,. In the name of human rights we turn into pieces new rail lines, bridges , mines that may endangers our competitiveness.

You must be on a different planet if you think your under capacity chinese battery (tested with a equally dodgy chinese tester) is more relevant or important than "imagined" human rights violations. Where actual peoples are getting wrecked and thrown in hard labour camps.

If you had been less of a tight arse and bought batteries from your local shop, then you would have been able to just take it straight back, instead of whining on a forum. Yes, they would have still been chinese batteries of coarse, but better traceability back to the brand.

One day, one may compare favorably how Chinese treat their minorities to those that treat their indigenous people. You may not really want to go this path ...unless you seat on another planet and not be aware of injustice here and somewhere....
I am warning you. You don't want to go this path because one day Chinse may ask you why the right full owners of the richest in resources land on this planet could not afford their mobile phones and those that try face prison time ( as Telstra case recently illustrate)

LOL, thanks for the warning. I'm quite happy to follow your two-wrongs-make-a-right logic (apparently). Where if everyone does dodgy stuff, then everyone has to ignore the dodgy stuff.

So in your logic, one may only raise a concern if you have a perfect track record. So if I can find one crappy product that Aus has sold to China, then you won't be allowed to ask for the battery refund anymore? Is that how it works?

I am afraid that cheap Chinese fake batteries are sold here in Australia by unscrupulous Australians!
I almost could guarantee you the every listing on eBay of lithium battery to power tools consist of only fake batteries.
This is what worry me the most. We are so used to this fake that nobody bother anymore...

Same with most solar panels, specifically in semi flexible range. I bought onw 350W 12v that hardly produce 1/3 at full sun.

Maybe we need to wait for our Consumer Commerce Commissions to back from quarantine after Covid finishes ?

I am guilty of this as well, but MAYBE you need to read the sellers ratings BEFORE buying from them? To be fair I have bought from dodgy sellers in the past and only checked their poor ratings after the fact.

Macro that seller is based in china, they may (or probably don't) have stock in Australia, but are more than happy to lie about that as well as the battery capacity.

The problem is that negative feedback doesn't prevent sellers from selling the same fake items to new customers again and again.Problem was solved long time ago and shops and other retailers are strictly forbidden from selling 1kg sugar pack consisting of only 400g inside.Or Cola 1 liter bottle with only few sips at the bottom. If you take on another hand AMAZON>COM>AU there is hardly any fake battery for Ryobi.IBTW. I just received offer from my RYOBI battery seller on eBay - discount of $30 and keep the item? Should I accept this offer and shut up? Obviously fair discount for Ah supplied should be at least $42,20.
If we, Australians stands by moral standards - the fairness, honesty should be one of that on top priorities.Freedom of religious beliefs ( in third countries) could take steps below that.
BTW.Chinese make big mistake allowing few scumbacks to make bad name to whole nation of hard working people , producing constantly generally acceptable quality goods.Even worse is eBay standing that promote and accept everyday theft and scum on their pages. Not something you could expect from Switzerland based corporation.

Yep,
we have three sorts of bastards here
1.Those Chinese selling directly fake from China
2. Chinese living here scumbacks selling fakes deposited already in AU
3.The worst kind of all !! AU selling the rest of AU, Chinese fakes
PS. I still believe that remaining 99.9999% of Chinese population are trustworthy, hard working people.
Cockroaches could grow everywhere and need to be treated accordingly !

ebay is a marketplace. If you don't understand how the feedback system is meant to work, don't use it. If you are too lazy to check the feedback, don't use it or don't buy anything, or don't be bothered when you buy fakes.

If you want genuine Ryobi, buy from Bunnings.

Ebay does protect purchases through paypal. Use it or not, but don't blame ebay for letting you buy cheaper stuff that you probably know is fake anyway. If you are genuinely surprised it is fake, get your complete refund and be more vigilant in future.

Somehow I feel that a china/usa war will be started by you and a poor choice when using ebay.

On the second , serious thought, I come to this dilemma
How would you allocate you limited resources in given circumstances ??
1. everyday of the week 1 of wife and 3 day rest after ?
2.random choice _ lottery like draw, everyday?
3.1 big night once a week with all 4 and the rest of the week to recover?

Not so surprising that poor guy have this heavy dilemma on his head to consider and not to be accused of negligence or preferential treatment.

The problem is that Bunning rip you off on battery for tools in day light already !!! More the Chinese ever can !!!
you pay 18v x 5ah = 90Wh
1000/90=11.11
11.11 x $149 = $1,639 per 1 Kwh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i
battery storage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I build my lithium battery storage for my electric ATV it cost me less the $200 per 1 kwh !!
Tesla claim their cost below $100 per kwh and aim for $50/kwh for storage facilities.

Bunnings charge you in first place 10X more that battery is worth in first place !!!!

that possibly apply to all brands all around from Milwaukee to Ozito.

Bunnings needs to fix their price in first place before we go there to buy their batteries !!!!!!!!

I am not going to pay them $1,639 per kwh if I could DIY for less then $200. But I can not simply do everything mysellt.
I want to go and buy stuff at fair price.
BTW. For those interested in topic Lithium battery cell , at quality 2170 format 4000mAh .3.7V cost only $0.70 bulk price so you need six of those to build decent RYOBI 16V bank.BTW . If Bunnings is not in Chinese hands by any chance ??

I agree completely. The price for iron ore is say $220 USD per tonne. There can't be more than 2 tonnes in my car, so why did I need to pay significantly more than $440 for my car?

It's highway robbery!

You possibly never look what is inside your drill battery box. There is not a rocket science.
Plastic box, 6 cylindrical battery cells $1 each, BMS circuit - $7, total maybe $20 to make it.....sold $140 !!I am consistently surprised how much value for money you may have while build power tools. Those complicated devices become now really cheap and affordable.Battery for those tools are on the other hand exaggerated rip off. But in market driven economy correction is unavoidable.
Same did happen already to solar panel reaching 10c per Watt already. Western world can not longer compete with their production lines, so now we see attempt to discard and smear those Chinese manufactures with all sort of fictional accusation - human rights obviously, forced Labour etc Obviously truth is that Chinese just perfected giant scale manufacturing , streamlined organization, minimizing wasteBy the same means Australian manage to perfect mining operation that yeild the lowest production cost in the world.

six of those battery cells will be good enough to make perfect Ryobi battery 18v 4Ah.

Lets see how much cost 1kwh of those cells:

3.7 v x 4 Ah = 14.8 wh
1000 / 14.8 = 68 cells
68 cell * $0.70 = $ 47.6
$47 per kwh ! seems a bit too good to be true ( but close to $2 cost the best quality cells on the market )

Happy ending I did received my full refund on fake batteries for Ryobi today.
This is how we should fight against , don't need fighter planes or warships.
Just a bit of common sense
They will learn a lesson and we could live in peace.

If anybody that bought fake solar panel or battery do similar claim and eBay happily comply we could clean the mess of fakes
from our lovely online store in no time at all.
Most of the Chinese also breath a relief when don't need to compete against false sellers.
Everybody then could sell fair product at fair price

Fair... interesting word when price is underpinned by manipulated currency and slave labour.
