No. It's sad to see dogs people have got just to deter burglars.

I met a Pom a few years ago at the beach. He was quite alarmed by my dog which is a Staffie Terrier. He was quickly put to ease when my dog went up and started licking his hand. They got on very well. I asked why was he so alarmed by my dog. He told me that back in his motherland, Staffies are regularly used for guarding drug houses. As a result, they can be a bloody danger if they got outside ! Then he said that after seeing how my dog behaved, being friendly and playful, he will get himself one back home. I suppose it is all up to what purpose a dog owner wants them to fulfill.

By the way, being a dog owner for a long time, I can tell what kind of people I am dealing with by the way they react to dogs. Dodgy, lacking in confidence, lacking in empathy, aggressive, ignorant, judgmental, etc.
