Printer can't be used, says it "has no driver".
Doesn't appear in the list of printers when I try and print.
Device manager- update driver. "You can't update the driver as it is the correct one."
Is there a room full of geeks somewhere who deliberately do this for their collective amusement?
Do they look at normal folks a bit like how men smile and nod at each other when women talk all retarded about cars?
I mean how bloody hard is it? I plugged it into the last 3 PCs and 2 laptops and it just worked. Different computer now, NUP. ![]()

You are probably out of Cyan ink.
You need to buy all new ink cartridges/toners because, well because
What do you mean plug it in. Because all printers now are wireless except for power.
Your printer is old and you MUST buy a new one only $69.
It will print a guaranteed 15 pages before any issue arises
Also we have a monthly Ink/Toner subscription... Never run out of pages again just $15
It's not a joke.
Why are you printing things anyway in 2021
TikTok
Buy Buttcoin it is the future of pouring chemicals down the drain
It is probably just a driver issue, type in your Printer model number and install the specific drivers relevant to your operating system if that is the problem.
Make sure it is listed as your default printer or you select during printing, you will probably have a few.
In reality your printer is trash and you just need to buy another one.
Like you said some nerds put this into the firmware.
Wanna print black and white? Nope Cyan is low even though I've never printed in colour.
Their time is coming Mark, don't worry
I feel your pain. I just went through this. Took me about two months to solve.
Let me guess, your new operating system is Mac Big Sur?
Our printer decided that there were no cartridges in it, even when it was full of the bloody things. Spent a few hours trying all the tricks, complete waste of time. Gave up and bought a new one.
They're not in the printer selling business, they're in the ink selling business...
Just delete the drivers, download the latest (full package) and reinstall them.
It will be in the middle of the bloody front garden in a minute.
I admit defeat.
New printer is so cheap, So is ink
You can just inject new ink into the cartridge like a heroin user
**** we put put Circuit boards in place ahaha you can't do that
free ink
Yes we can
Printer can't be used, says it "has no driver".
yup, there you go.
West Australian drivers.
Can't keep left, can't use a roundabout correctly, can't even print.
for all the dummies complaining about Dry "ink"
You gotta use it NOW
****n dry inkers sound like heroin sea gulls
I gave up on inkjet printers year's ago.
The ink is way expensive and because I don't print a lot the nozzles clog up and the ink dries
Now I have the cheapest mono laser print and a seperate scanner. The cartridges last for ever and the scanner is much higher quality than the all in one units.
If I'm printing photos I go to a place where they have a really good printer
If I really need a colour document I get it printed at Officeworks's
What printer is it, and what computer did you plug it into? Let me know the Operating System (Windows 8, Windows 10 etc) also, what type of cable did you use

If you want tec help... $$
Ask your grand kids, they'll fix it in 2 seconds.![]()
Delete then download latest drivers, if that dosent work Id guess its a pretty old fashioned printer as you have had it working on your last few computers so a bit old. its prob not compatible with your new computering machine ![]()
If you give the model no./brand etc of printer people might b able to help. Bit like asking people why my car dosent work..... with no details.
Go laser these days.
Why do so many people still use inkjets when laser is so much cheaper?
Judging by IanR's post it is because they add too many random apostrophes to your text.

#edit, sorry I meant apostrophe's

To print surf decals on proper thin rice paper for a start
The heat of laser can screw stuff up.
In this case, because I don't think we should have to buy anew thing every 5mins. This is a high quality printer. Just that computers are fk stooopid.
You need a driver. No you don't, you have one. God's sake
Surprised you didn't take the opportunity to answer any questions. Anyhow the printer company has a responsibility to update drivers/release patches compatible with new operating systems. So the path that leads somewhere is to contact the printer company and tell them your operating system. Alternatively, spend $3 on a printer cable, some drivers work via cable but not Wi-fi
Why do so many people still use inkjets when laser is so much cheaper?
Why not both. I have Brother laserprinters and Brother Inkjets. Laser for most things and the inkjets for colour. The Brother printers seem to be fine with refilled cartridges and I have both refilled them myself or swapped them at the local inkjet cartridge store.
The cheaper printers are junk though. I have a HP which I think cost all of $49. Cheaper than the replacement ink cartridge and it needs one for all the colours, whereas the Brother inkjets use a separate tank for each colour and black.
To answer Mark's question, you can override the driver that is automatically detected and tell the PC to get one from elsewhere, and then you direct it to where the local driver is already stored, or the one you downloaded. By default it will try and use the latest one but this will avoid that.
These sorts of things are why some people still pay for PC support and/or buy business grade equipment where its more likely that drivers are better tested ;-)
Now resolved.
My point really is that the PC says there is no driver, then when you try to install one, or update it - it says you have the latest driver already.
That's infuriating crap - which really is incomprehensible to me. Its poor product design, really to get dialog boxes like that should not even be possible as they're contradictory.
Well.........dont leave us in suspense, we are all desperately hanging out to hear how you fixed this horrific dilemma????????
Did u get really technical and turn it off
and back on again ????????????????![]()
