Cheers m8, your right. I don't. I went from watching ABC news pretty much exclusively because they did not have advertising & had a bigger overall world perspective. But then that became progressively not the case, I would pinpoint about when Donald Trump was elected & all dummies were not only spitted but became the standard editorial...Up until then dinner at 7 involved watching the abc news. The last 12 months is even worse with endless covid sensationalism. So we just switch on netflix now & seek out any info that involves us plus a few non biased trustworthy non msm information sources.
The ABC costs a billion dollars a year, yet less and less people are watching TV. Their budget should be based on viewers and if so it'd be cut massively every year.

the foundation of public broadcasting is that it is not governed by viewer numbers or commercial viability. their journalists & programmers are not driven by what's likely to sell.
i think it's swung too far to the left of late but that's no reason to get rid of or further cripple what is a crucial service; especially to rural australians.
and fewer tv watchers means little - they produce plenty of online and radio content.
successive governments have already gutted the abc. just leave it alone ffs.

I occasionally watch SKY alongside many other sources including the others mentioned. I also consciously gather info from all over the globe and
read a lot of books, 2-3 a month. Its how I attempt avoiding becoming dogmatic on any particular topic.
As for my view about SKY, mostly an extension of the Murdoch gutter trash print empire keeping dull minds angry about their lot in life.

No doubt all of our opinions are subject to all sorts of unconscious bias, and that's why we have democracy isn't it?
There's a problem with CEOs of corporations now taking, or being expected to take, positions on political issues that are unrelated to their business, whether it's gay marriage, climate change policy, BLM...whatever. As if these vastly prvileged individuals haven't got enough power, we now have them proselytising on all manner of issues, and their employees are expected to follow suit.
I think this is an abuse of power. They'll say that they're "on the right side of history" or "only doing what's right", but that's not how democracy works. It is, in fact, how the CCP justifies the one-party state. Why consult the people when you already know what's right?

If I'm talking about a specific person I may use He or She. I may even use "they" if their gender is implied or irrelevant

Born in a generation before everyone had to take a side (which was really just one generation ago), when everyone was allowed to have an opinion on different issues without being labelled one way or the other, but take every opinion with a grain of salt.
Back (about ten yrs ago) when there were only two equally important genders, everyones lives mattered and the word "they" referred to a group of associated people. not someone confused about whether they wanted to have a penis or a vagina from day to day.
As i said, just normal here. But i guess the less corrupt among us would say i'm on the right of centre since we all need to be labelled now. not sure where. I'll leave it to their better judgement.
