Assuming we had a vaccine approved by Aust Regulatory Authorities, would you get the jab?
I would ! Acknowledging the increased risks due to development of a vaccine in much shorter timeframe than would normally be expected.
I Also respect people who choose not to for the very same reason.

The risks are so low its not even a question. To be honest though, COVID is a heavily targeted virus. It is very easy to work out who is at risk from complications from it and who isn't. Those are the ones who should be taking it.
That said the likelyhood of any sort of even marginally effective vaccine is not very high. We need to get used to living with this thing, and stop cowering behind draconian measures in name of "keeping people safe".
No vaccine will be magic bullet.
If you choose NOT to take the vaccine....
then someone catches it from you and their mother or child (with an existing condition) dies from it, make sure you feel responsible.

Selfish attitude.
If everyone takes it the virus becomes elimated.
If only some take it, the virus still circulates killing those who don't realise they have an existing issue until they catch it. Perhaps you.

I'm currently in iso in the NT for work
I'll have the shot if means I can get back to work as normal. I have had so many other vacations one more is not going to bother me
Antivirals are not usually recommended for prophylactic treatment but this looks promising.

There is not going to be enough vaccines to go around for a few years anyway, so I will volunteer to miss out.
Stop it, I am not a hero, that's your words not mine. I am just being a good citizen and putting others before myself.
I will probably be forced to get the vaccine for work. Not that i really care, i doubt it will be anything to sing and dance about.
Someone on here mentioned a few months ago that the infected area has very little flesh so will be difficult to get a vaccine to work. I find it interesting that they have overcome that issue so quickly, hopefully it is effective for everyones sake. The virus is so wide-spread that i think a vaccine is the only way to take it down.
I dont think the vaccine will be mandatory, instead companys will force there workers to get it. I reckon the next thing the government will do is restrict access to things like the dole, schools and other government run programs unless you have all the vaccinations. In an effort to get everyone to have them without it becoming "Compulsary" and "taking away peoples freedom".

Hang on!!! What are you talking??
If I choose not to be vaccecuted I am theoretically not a danger to someone else who is vaccecuted.
Don't try to put that moral clap trap on those of who choose not to be vaccecuted.
The vaccine will contain a micro chip so you can be tracked for life, all your details will be available to the highest bidder, it will lodge itself behind you eye and have an inbuilt camera and mic.
Surely you have heard of governments running "covid" operations before????? are you all so naive?![]()

Surely it is their fault for not getting vaccinated?

Also recognise that somewhere north of 50% of the population has immunity to the virus.

Some people may not be able to vaccinated due to preexisting condition, or may have mental illness, homeless etc. Others will just be stupid or lazy.

In the words of a somewhat dopey, red haired politician, "Please Explain" on just what you base this statement on?

Careful there Facebook doctor.
T cell immunity is credited with saving juveniles but that in no way implies acute thymus atrophy has not occurred.

Manufacture in a lab of the disease commenced in 2019
Got to love google ![]()
People with covid-01 to covid-07 had wings on their backs, from covid-08 to covid-12 had horns on their heads, and from covid-13 to covid-18 had third eye, so they all were easily recognizable among other, healthy people. People who become ill with covid-19 have no visible signs to distinguish them from healthy people. Therefore, the only way to protect against covid-19 is to to minimize contacts .

Deleted all the contacts from my phone, I should be immune now.
well thankyou for that wealth of amazing knowledge
Covid 08 - 12 did get away from lab, theres a few people around here that fit that description .

As long as you noted that it was called Covid19 because it was found in 2019.
I will pass that onto my great grandchildren, with all the crap they add to our food I will live to a very ripe
age

I totally acknowledge your positive intention to save lives and minimise risks in the community, however this is not as simple though.
First, you could apply this analogy for every flu to date, and say everyone must always take every possible vaccine, as any kind of flu could potentially cause death to a vulnerable person with an existing condition.
Then you could go further and say, spending money on anything unnecessary (alcohol, cigarettes, unnecessary gadgets etc etc) is causing children in 3rd world countries to die because that money and resources could have been spent to buy them food. That should make pretty much everyone feel responsible!!??
Then you could go further and say, illnesses and vulnerabilities are passed down from parents/ancestors... hence anyone not living a healthy lifestyle is responsible for passing down corrupted genetic code to their offspring. Anyone living unhealthy lifestyle should feel responsible??
The only way you can really make anyone feel guilty about not taking a vaccine is if it can be proven with 100% certainty that the vaccine is not going to cause any short/long term negative side-effects/harm to anyone who takes it. And on top of that make companies producing these responsible/liable for their product (as you would expect for just about anything you buy these days). For instance, I've tried a flu shot little while ago, and had the worst year of health (with respect to viruses and flus) in my life. Since then I've never taken a vaccine, and been 10 years now, and not one single flu (whilst being exposed to public transport and office environment full of people every day). Should I feel guilty about not taking a vaccine now? I'm not arguing that all vaccines are bad. I'm just saying, it's not for everyone... hence you can't make a blanket rule with it... or make everyone feel guilty about not taking it.
However, there are ways of protecting each other... i.e. stay home if you are sick.. wear mask... live healthy lifestyle.
Yes I had my first ever flu shot last year and caught a bad one. Worst in 30 years. That didn't stop me having my second ever flu shot this year. It's statistical The flu shots are only about 50% (?) effective for an individual. But it's not about the individual it's about herd immunity.
If they need say 70% immunity for herd immunity and the Covid vaccine, when/if it comes, is 75% efficient then unless about 95% take it the virus won't be knocked on the head.
Take the shot

2018 and 2019 i got the flu shot as well and got a pretty bad flu both times. This year i didnt bother because i thought i was going to disappear in the boat when WhuFlu got to QLD. I ended up having heaps of work to do so never ended up leaving (i would have got bent over if the water coppers pulled me up as well). This year i didnt get the flu but that was probably due to covid restrictions at work. Needless to say i wont be getting the flu shot next year.
My very limited understanding of vaccines are that they inject you with a small amount of the virus ( in this case the flu) and your antibodies build up immunity to it. Is it possible for them to inject to much virus in and the vaccines ends up giving you the virus? (as in the flu) Sorry if this is a bit of a dumbass question.
^ AFAIK the flu vaccine is an inactivated virus. There are all sorts of vaccines. Doubt the plan is to inject people with stuff to make them ill, but people are free to believe whatever.
