Bit of a bummer that we can't debate the truth. The MSM coverage and the vile shootings in our country is so depressing and curtailed. I used to enjoy reading about the truth on Seabreeze.

What we can discuss is: what an effing hero that fruit/tobacco shop owner was who wrestled that piece of sh1t gunman down - Australian of the decade!

Also the couple who wrestled with one gunman at the start and were shot dead. Sad day.

I was reading up about Rabbi Eli Schlanger who was sadly killed in the shooting after some random told me about his background in passing on the beach.

Now I'm not quite sure if his murder was bad luck or Karma.

Are those photos of him holding a bomb and smiling with IDF soldiers real or AI.

Carantoc, you still here?

I guess it wouldn't be called 'shooting' the breeze if we couldn't talk about a shooting.

The terrorist sympathisers have been chanting incitements for over two years starting with a call to gas Jews on the steps of the opera house and a street party in Western Sydney celebrating a massacre, and on it went every weekend steadily escalating.

FFS there was a march over the Harbour bridge recently with ISIS flags and pictures of terrorists being held up like heros. WTF have the politicians been thinking to allow that.

Even in this forum people defending incitements to eradicate Jews. Are we surprised after years of chanting for violence against Jews someone has acted on it. Hang your head in shame if you've been part of that mob, those incitements have brought real racism motivated violence to our country. Be assured your not on the right side history.

Government has been seen to be going after right wing, neo nazi extremists in last few years, seems they've dropped the ball in weeding out some of the muslim extremists.

Not really sure what rules Government can make to stop it from happening here again. Whether its preventing people protesting, or tightening gun controls it will likely push the small groups of violent extremists underground.

All this naval gazing after such events is annoying.

Our resources were too stretched to deport Muslim extremists. Athletes at the peak of physical health were Australia's biggest security threat.

Oh god vaccines had to come in to it ffs give it up. Amazing to see the acts of courage from so many immigrants of different backgrounds. Keyboard warriors blaming this government is hilarious when the shooter came into the country so long ago. Extremism left, right or religious is never good. So hard to track every person in a country.
Just remember the worst mass shooters in Australia/NZ were white Anglo-Saxon males. If anyone should be deported it is them. Pretty sure the original owners would agree.
There will be lots of navel gazing on this one but I hope we do not lose site of the fact that we live in a pretty good country. Best in the world i believe.
I think the US leads mass shooting 5500 to 30.

My post isn't about vaccines. It's about the irony of dangerous people being allowed to operate in our country while others that are harmless are hounded out.

Seems he was tracked. We were too soft.

I was watching a few videos last night about Martin Bryant and it's amazing he was able to be a free member of society before the Port Arthur shootings. Apparently he had mentioned to colleagues in the years/months before the incident he fantasised about shooting people and was known to torture animals.

This is another case of someone with extreme views/actions not being taken seriously and isolated.

There is a genuine unease in Australia with what's been going on in Gaza for over two years. It's provocative to see a prominent rabbi holding a bomb and posing with IDF soldiers. I understand these images came from his FB page. It's not being reported in the MSM.

Of course It's wrong that he was murdered by some extremist nuts on Bondi Beach who went to military training in the Phillipines. I would like to think Australians leave their issues in their effedup country of origin there. Most do - like the heros of this attack. But how do we prevent the hatred in the minds of the miniscule minority?

There is lots of naval gazing left to play out. But in hindsight it's completely ridiculous Novac was sent home during COVID, when others, like these gunman, their clerics, have so far avoided prison time or deportation.

I was listening to Joshy blaming Albo, and I didn't buy it. He is either looking to win a logie, or he's seeing an opportunity to get back into politics.

Dezi Freeman, he and his sovereign citizens mates also pose a threat. I just don't think any government or policies can ever stop these nuts from acting out. It'll happen again, despite new gun, hatred or whatever laws they make.

Hey Bernie, great idea... let's eliminate antisemitism.

We'll start by perusing through the Quran and removing all the pages that are unhelpful (unfortunately some diligent followers are taking the words literally). We can then submit the revised version to Allah and Gabriel will announce the updated message to humankind. Easy fix, let's go, yew!

Alright let's get going, here's a start - quran.com/al-maidah/51/tafsirs

Very funny posts by both Bernie and the Dutchman. I knew that is the truth, but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

Are there any stats on how many innocent lives were lost on Gaza beach?

How exactly would we in Australia go about eliminating antisemitism, while half of the Jewish population is in agreement with Israel's far right governments genocidal campaign?

The war in Gaza stopped when the surviving hostages were returned. Hamas kept it going for as long as they saw fit. I would expecr the Australian government to keep fighting terrorism in order.to free Australian hostages.
Your denial of facts is exactly the type of lying that has contributed to the increase the antisemitism that has seen incitements become actions.

For example you just claimed half the jewish population in Australia is far right and genocidal. What's wrong with you.

ignoring that dopey white girl leftie ****-stirrers have supported Palestine in uni settings since I was at UWA in 1991

ignoring that 10000 people - citizens and PRs!!- march in rallies in Australia to support a country run by a declared terrorist organisation

ignoring that you can make significant explosives with legal items on eBay.
Ignoring that terrorists have driven trucks thru crowds when nil else is available

Noooo, let's tighten up on guns as our first reaction so we are seen to be 'doing something' by the public. Bloody Labor asleep at the wheel

I agree Mark. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the two offenders were armed with assault rifles (from what I could hear from the video). Back before the Port Arthur massacre, only two states legalised those types of weapons: NSW, and Tas. As far as I know, that 1996 massacre put laws in place to ban automatic weapons outright. So, what are media and pollies talking about now ?. Seems to me, slamming law abiding firearm owners with more red tape, and not addressing how the **** these illegal weapons are getting into the country is only going to improve the working conditions of criminals.

I can't imagine how difficult this would be. You disarm a guy that has just proven that he would kill you, but you don't want to be seen with the gun as well in-case someone thinks you are the shooter and tries to shoot you.

Shooting another person is a hard thing for most people, so using the gun to shoot the original shooter is a hard ask, and then can you argue self-defence if he is walking away from you?

If you watch the footage, I think he is thinking of how to be under cover as well as not being a target for police. The shooter could have easily had a pistol or a knife, so chasing after him is something you would probably only do in movies.

I didn't hear assault weapons, as in semiautomatic, firing and reloading in response to a trigger action.
What I got from the news is that they were using slide action rifles and shotguns. Some of the video looks like a pump action weapon.
I thought they were banned way back in 1996, but gun manufacturing has changed since then. There are lever action weapons that do the same job and are legal and carry 10 rounds.

If we want to keep weapons out of the hands of deranged people, maybe claiming to believe in God should be enough to disqualify a licence applicant. After all, it's an unprovable proposition, so rational people would say they don't know, and arguments over which particular unprovable proposition is best have killed a hell of a lot of people over history, starting off with the Jews carrying out a genocide on the Canaanites in the second book of the collected works of Jehovah.

And finally, in response to some Rabbi's declaration that the best way to combat antisemitism is to be more Jewish, I'm conflicted. Yes, I could get another circumcision, but I'm afraid it will hurt

If you read the history of the establishment of the state of Israel, you would too. Most of the senior politicians in Israel from the 30s through the 80s were involved in massacres of Palestinian villages.
The muslim world has never persecuted Jews the way Catholics did for a thousand years. They were "people of the book" and had sizeable communities throughout the middle east

I think the governments know full well that gun laws are not the problem but they see an opportunity to further restrict ownership so they have wasted no time in moving to do that.

I am not a fan of religion in general (even though it does help to control the weak minded, but throughout history religion has also caused the weak minded to commit terrible atrocities in the name of their deity) but that does appear to be worse than the other ones. But maybe the Muslims are like the Christians and they just choose which parts of the quaran they are going to ignore and which parts they are willing to destroy a country over (judging by selective application in the USA).
