So is it really a problem for some folks to think they dont require the vaccine as Jesus is protecting them? If you think about it if everyone else has the vaccine other than the uncertain, the religious, anti science and the anti vaccs crew then its their problem if they catch the covid and they will also get some immunity, some will die, but their choice, gods will. Eventually the herd immunity will catch up? As for the hospital ICU's they may need to restrict access to covid patients so there is room for normal emergencies, tell covid patients to stay home but with hopes and prayers. Or set up special tents for the covid patients away from normal hospital areas.
Thats my reasoning for a non mandatory vaccination. But explain to everyone its a good idea to get the vaccine, it could save your life. Look at the US and UK, this pandemic has only just got started for them.

That's a worry isn't it. Leave it too long and you end up with variants that are not targetted by the current vaccines.
I wonder what the long term result is going to be. I was reading the other day that the influenze virus from the Spanish Flu is essential the origin of most or all of the current common flu strains. Are we okay with that flu because we have gotten some better genetic resistance to it or has that virus survived as a lower impact virus?

social media has a basic algorithm to show you info that it thinks you are interested in, ie more of the same. Everyone should widen their viewpoint.

Well that's the problem, its not just looking after yourself. Vaccination is a process to protect the community, including children, pregnant women, and others who suffer from immune compromising diseases and conditions which preclude them from vaccination (which hashbrown has taken the time to cut and paste in this thread already)
If you don't have a medical condition that precludes you getting the vaccine, then not getting it is an f.u. to those people who do and are relying on the people around them for their protection - not getting vaccinated just because you don't want to is fundamentally a selfish act and people should be absolutely shamed for it.
Much like mask wearing - it isn't to protect you, its to protect those around you. Refusing to wear one because you are a special little flower is a jerk move (as is wearing one with a valve).

The choice to have a vaccine I sort of agree with. I would prefer it if everyone does as it really is needed in order to stop the virus. It annoys me a little bit that those vocal about not getting it will effectively be protected by those of us that do, and they will probably then go on to say something like 'I didn't need to get it anyway it was all a hoax'.

Posting a meme about 'causes sterility' or 'increased risk of HIV' is just stupid. I guess its not stupid if you are a goat that just accepts whatever someone sends you in a meme, but stupid if you look at the underlying information and find that these facts are just lies.
Even the logic of the virus and the vaccine is an insult to my intelligence.

Maybe i should have thought out my post a bit better becuase when i read it back now it sounds one sided.
The problem is it would go against human rights to make the vaccine mandatory and we would end up with riots and looters.
On the other side it takes a majority of people to be immunised for it to work. If there was an easy solution the pollies would or used it by now so it is up to us to make the vaccine effective. So in short we need to get as many people vaccinated without making it legally mandatory ( i am sure you guys are all over this and i am stating the obvious i just dont want to send the wrong message here).
