What wing leashes do people like?
I need to replace my OR leashes, which are an overlooked aspect of an otherwise phenomenal wing. Personally, I like the NSI leashes - they hold their stretch, the webbing is very solid and they last for years. Cabrinha leashes are fine too. I feel like the F-One leashes stretch too much and don't feel solid, but they are nice and light. The Core leash is very nice, but it can't be disconnected from the wrist cuff, which doesn't work for me.
Note: Im grading the leash itself, NOT the wrist cuff. I clip the leash to my waistbelt / harness with a mini sailing carabiner.
Not interested in a static leash or a coil leash for the wing.
Not a fan of the coil leashes either.
I like the leash that came with my F-one enough that I swap it between my Unit v2 and my F-one Strike. I have two Ozone leashes that I don't care for but keep them as backups.
What I like about the F-one is that it is simple (shock cord buried inside of some Dyneema), strong, lightweight and quiet if and when it comes in contact with the wing or board.
favourite is Ensis (great wrist cuff), Cabrina is also good, both good stretch fabric type. Naish is pants, crap coil leash.
My favorite is my homemade 1/4" Dyneema rope with an eye splice at both ends. Could definitely use thinner since this stuff can handle 30+kN of load but its what I had laying around. I use a snap-shackle on my belt which I could release if I ever needed to. Its really nice not to have anything strapped to my wrist and if a gust or wave grabs the wing it doesn't yank my arm, which used to happen with my wrist leash.
Duotone coil for me, short ones are the go but don't use the little loop that they come with or make sure it's tight and load tested before the first session.
I was dead set on straight leashes a year ago, and didn't go near the coiled type. Once I started tacking and riding bumps, I started using coil type because they didn't get tangled around my arm.
Connected to my wrist too, as I'm not sold on the waist belt set ups - tried one a few weeks ago and it was a pain in the arse.
The Airush nitro wing leash is almost perfect as it has a built-in swivel. But it lacks the additional Velcro lock on the cuff that Ensis uses

The good thing with ocean rodeo is that they really do listen. Their original leash sucked in comparison
to various solutions I tried. That said, I would not overlook their new leash. I'd dare say it's the best on the market
right now and their new quick release mechanism has to be the most innovative leash feature in sometime.
It's weird in an away as I can't remember a thing about the leash after demoing their prototype wings. I think it's
only possible when the experience is seamless. I can't say that about any other leash I tried/owned, there's always something.

I use to be averse to coiled wrist leashes, especially with the molded plastic swivel arm sticking out of my wrist. Made it very bulky and awkward.
Duotone comes to mind as it was my first coiled leash. Good thing I managed to return it, bought the Naish coiled leash for half the price.
The wrist cuff was still awkward but better than the Duotone.
Took the cuff from my F-one which is one of the best on the market and connected the swivel part to the cuff with Dyneema cord thus
removing the bulkiness from the wrist. This solution became my go to for wrist leashes. I'm using this leash for wings ranging from 3M to 6M with no issues. For waist leash I still use the F-one.

Xm surf more have been doing a quick release surf leash for years. Ocean rodeo just copied that but made the connection better so pin doesn't pull all the way out

Yes, I've been using the XM surf quick release for years myself but OR implementation is better and more suitable for wrist leash.
I asked XM a while ago if they are going to come up with a wing leash with quick release and they sent me a boilerplate email saying the have wing specific leash offering. The XM wing leash has similar design to the Naish coiled leash, same bulky connection to the cuff no QR.
Interesting post, I love the Starboard / Airush leash because of the double-back clip so even when released it doesn't come right off your hand, good for if for some reason you want to move it around on the water, I don't like the simple one strip velcro types at all, I actually let one blow out of my hand once and spent 15 mins paddling to get it back (but hey that's my error)
now I use the Starboard cuff attached to shot cord attached to a coil leash with no swivels attached to cord, so the coil is in the middle and I can easily adjust the length of the cord to suit my wing. I found the coil makes stink bugging way less hassle, than trying to dance around a dangling leash cord![]()
^ this is what i'm after. would you know where to find the covered elastic leash itself (don't need the pigatails)? It appears to be similar to a windsurfing uphaul just a mini version
I've currently using the coil leashes but they're a pain when pumping hard and when twisting around in the air.
You can get those leashes from Kitepower sydney. Ozone uses similar leashes for their chest harness, you can buy just the leashes alone, long or short.

Similar for me. I get a piece of 5mm single-braid dyneema and pull some 3mm bungee cord down the inside. Make the bungee as short as possible but not so short it takes peaks load. The result is super light, and thin, and unbreakable. I also clip this leash to the front of my body. Bowline knots work fine. I tie some half-hitch knots down the leash to make it easy to hand grab part way along to pull the wing in. The extended length of the leash is long enough for me to move around a wing tip.
