Hi everyone, total newb here, and I was wondering something.

Ive been getting my gear together to get started wing foiling. Ive never foiled before and i live in a spot with very light lake winds. Im at 75kg,
So far I have a 5.4 slingwing v2 ,and for the board I got a fanatic skywing 6'0" 130L.
For my foil im planning to get the slingshot hg fwing setup with the i99 front wing.

I was wondering if it would be any fun to take the board out and paddle around with my sup paddle. Im sure it will float me good.
Maybe if i use a combo of paddle and pumping (once I learn to) will i be able to get up on foil, or am I just having delusions of grandeur?

Anyways,, really glad I found this forum
Thanks!

One can always hope...
Lotsa drag on i84 or 99 for someone your weight.
Maybe a i76 would fit your 130 Fanatic better at 75 kg.
Hope you can make paddle and leg pumping work out.

right?
I have been worried about that, getting too large a wing, but the winds in my area are mostly very light. Like 5-10mph, rarely breaking 15, so Im hoping bigger is better?

Bigger should be better, but bigger goes waaay slower, so glide is way less, and always feels slightly draggy.
Now, a i99 with a 225 lbs rider can go quite fast.
But we are not that size.

You might mention where you intend to foil, since other people might be in the area and already foil there.
No need to keep it a secret.
Like, I mostly foil Berkeley Ca., hang out a bit with Sunset Sailboards, but no where near his skill level.

I'd do some more research then consider a different foil.

So much harder than it looks. And less fun. Pray for wind!

I've tried in vain to paddle onto foil on flatwater using my 125lt wingfoil board. Serious paddling power output needed. My regular 10' SUP is heaps more fun on flat water (and way easier to paddle (in a straight line). A DIY foil drive assist project for SUP foiling has me interested though.
