Tiresome topic and probably not to be solved.

Nevertheless, I wanted to ask what your experiences with seaweed are with different foils.

My own impression is that the thinner the foil profile (and the higher AR), the more sensitive the foil reacts to the seaweed.

At Axis I was able to go with the ART, HPS and BSC lines.
ART (max chord 130 mm / AR 10.6 / volume: 905 qcm) was really not possible with seaweed. HPS (max chord 170 mm / AR 7.55 / volume: 1665 qcm) was already much better. The most relaxed (but of course still extremely annoying) was the BSC line (max chord 190 mm / AR 6.27 / volume: 2313 sqm).

What experiences did you make?

Setting up a foil is all about getting the stabiliser downforce to compensate for the drag on the wing, mast, fuse, etc.

Small, thin profile wings need less stabiliser downforce due to their lower drag. However, the extra drag from a piece of sea weed has a bigger percentage impact and makes them more sensitive.

My SABFoil w800 (840 cm2) becomes rear footed and almost usable even with a small piece of sea grass somewhere on the foil. If I can keep up enough speed I'll try a small jump as that often clears the weed.
